  1. Has anyone ever been on a Nova RTS where the bus is moving, then the driver stops, the bus shuts off, and the driver tells everyone inside to move to one side because the other one lost pressure and it has to be restarted? Happened to me.
  2. If NICE has any brains at all left and they still need more money later this year (which will likely happen), they shouldn't remove the express/limited runs of the major Nassau-Queens routes that get them a good chunk of overall ridership. Then again, NICE is somewhat dumb. The January 17th set of cuts were done to close a $7.5 million deficit. Should the person who runs NICE's social media including their Facebook page (who deletes a lot of comments made on the page and censors a lot of public complaints; could be Latoya Pippins but I don't know) be correct and there is a $3 million dollar deficit, these should cover it. The next routes that I see most likely up for elimination (smart elimination) that I see happening are the n45 (There goes PinePowerLI's fun trips to Bellmore), the possible elimination of the n88 because they can't seem to get the damn scheduling right or run concert service correctly, elimination of the n57 (I can't tell you how many times I've been at that bus stop in Great Neck and people opt for a cab instead of the bus), and possibly more reductions on the n19. You gotta remember ridership is down systemwide. I don't see the n21 being eliminated or touched, one of the many misconceptions NICE believes in.
  3. The problem with the complaints to NICE is the only people who have bothered NICE on a consistent basis is LIBRU and their ideas certainly do not speak for the majority of ridership on any of the routes they've touched, only for those that attend their meetings or listen to their constant babbling. We know that most of the people that ride NICE (those that PinePowerLI and many have protested about) don't say anything to NICE. NICE really is trying to discretely discintigrate the bus system to eventually nothing. I see overall ridership today definitely at less than 95,000, probably somewhere between 80,000 to 90,000 (big range, but after the cuts happen, that should tell us something).
  4. With that logic, those bus trips you take and post about here are considered "a need or demand by an individual." NICE only changed it back after LIBRU complained, and the n23/27 lost a lot of ridership that still hasn't come back thanks to that period. If you've ever read tweets or FB posts sent to NICE (which are frequently deleted by them), you'll see there are connection issues all over the system. I don't know what world you're living in, but hound has the right idea. I also won't quote the rest of your post, but will say that there will be connection issues with the n70/71/72 to any route into Suffolk simply because of the length of the routes on Hempstead Tpke, the traffic on that road, and the amount of lights the bus will/will not hit because of a county without a bus-priority lighting system. You're right that you're not able to connect to every bus. NICE's problem is that it has trouble connecting to any bus, even between it's own. The schedule may try to do it, but go out and take note of how many actually do it. I don't know why you felt the need to put that in a big font size. I can read it just fine at normal. I never said "aggressive" nor that you curse. It's the fact that I've seen you promoting LIBRU propaganda at places like Roosevelt Field and Hempstead Transit Center to people who do not want to be bothered while they're waiting for a bus, and all LIBRU has done is be a plague among this transit system by bitching about the most nonsense things. It's a waste of paper and people's time to be quite honest. I'm pretty sure PinePower and the NYCTF members here have good reason to not agree with LIBRU. But that still didn't answer my original question:
  5. Does nobody get it? The country doesn't want to find the money to fund bus service because most people in the county don't use the bus service and could care less whether the cuts happen or not. Let's say, hypothetically, the money is given by the county. The same thing will happen next year and the year after, or the state will step in and then it's dependent on the money of everyone in the state to provide bus service to a county that doesn't really even want it. Whether it happens now or it happens later this year or next year, the routes are going to be cut given what's happened in the last 3. Let it go now and let what money NICE has left be put to a better cause.
  6. Boo hoo. There were many more riders affected in half the other changes NICE made in the last 3 years than this one and those changes still happened. Goodbye n2/8. I have a question, and this is serious because I've seen you harassing bus riders at Roosevelt Field, bothering people for questions or whatnot, promoting LIBRU, etc. Why don't you just get a job with NICE since you clearly have somewhat of an obsession with the service? I'm sure NICE could put your time to good use and you could update the site, put up the flyers around the system, etc.
  7. I like how this thread has turned into a discussion about PinePowerLI. I mean, who cares really? Just another unemployed guy leeching off society riding the bus every day. Not much different from others who have been on this forum or City-data or YouTube except maybe a little more vocal on the racism.
  8. - This is the reason n20/21 ridership will decrease with this month's changes. - This is the reason n23/27 ridership decreased when they made the connection changes at Roslyn. That ridership still hasn't returned. - Ridership increases when the connections are easy AND riders have faith in the system that the bus will actually show up. This is NOT the case with NICE.
  9. Where was he a month ago when the cuts were announced? Another clown in the Nassau Legislature. At this point, the n2/8 are a goner anyways.
  10. That was really during the last year when the MTA stopped caring. Even before 2011, Nassau was on bad terms with the MTA for paying with it's bus system but it just wasn't as bad as 2011 onward. As for the mechanics, depends on who's left. Many of NICE's mechanics quit and from what I've heard/read, went to the MTA. That picture is right in front of the Newsday building. Properties are definitely a little bit more spread out over there.
  11. Speaking of the n70 in the other thread, I happened to see this (the n70 on layover): https://goo.gl/maps/h5t2V5pEnKD2
  12. lol: http://www.city-data.com/forum/long-island/2504622-they-should-increase-daily-fares-lirr-6.html
  13. You must be very easy to please then. We all know the true state of this system, and yet so many continue to tip toe around it. Good thing I don't rely on it. No, nothing like that has been developed (or been released publicly) yet.
  14. I'm still waiting for some to realize that this is happening and that none of the changes NICE is making or have made recently are for the betterment of the system.
  15. Some of you seem surprised at this mess that NICE has become... you shouldn't be. V
  16. You know what's funny. It's old news, but I laughed. If you look on almost every PinePowerLI news or rant video, you see "chargerdodge9" aka "jgood6195" aka "1995 Orion V CNG" commenting on almost every video as 2004OrionVIICNG and 2004 Orion V CNG Complains about so much and then does nothing about it except get banned here 3 times. That gave me a kick reading through all that stuff.
  17. Happy New Years everyone! Great time for a throwback to 4 years ago when this was posted regarding the [then new] NICE Bus re-branding: R.I.P. Joe Saitta
  18. Charlton D'souza just asked about that on NICE's Facebook page. This was NICE's response: "There will not be n20L service because it is too difficult to manage traffic delays over such a long distance in Flushing and Northern Blvd. All buses will instead pulse out of Great Neck which will improve on time performance." Hope that helps!
  19. Here's a random thought, lmao: No seriously, search "NICE Bus" and sort by Upload Date and this stuff comes up.
  20. In Nassau County? Probably never going to happen given the ratio of actual bus riders to population. In Queens (like for the Q12/N20/21), probably not going to happen either since the right most lane is pretty much used for parking 24/7 and that only leaves 2 other lanes with no other room to spread out. I don't think management at NICE is doing a real great job at informing anyone clearly, and that includes the drivers. Their webpage was different from their powerpoint at the time of the pubic hearing. The operation is simply a mess.
  21. That's exactly what I originally said about the traffic in that area: In a year (or even a couple of months) after the changes take place, the truth of how justified it really is will come to the light.
  22. Shhh, mac5689 doesn't like us saying that unless we have concrete proof! I like the plans suggested on here before of having the n73/74 and n80/81 running bi-hourly. Has anyone here actually suggested this or proposed it to NICE with petitions or backup support of sorts? I mean, LIBRU gets through with such stupid ideas and the better ones on here seem to never happen. It's good to see someone agrees with me that this change is dumb, and I definitely agree that this is a sneaky way to shift resources somewhere else or dump them for good. There's close to no relief drivers anymore and buses are missing left and right. Hound was right to say NICE sucks. I'm also curious as to the answers to your questions.
  23. I know, we all know about the finance situation already. Nassau County is a problem, but if any of this has meant anything, NICE is ALSO a part of the problem. My point in my original post was that NICE could have been spreading around their money better/smarter from the start than reviving the n17 and instead reducing the n14, n62, n80/81 earlier than when their budget deficit happened and in turn, the routes had to be eliminated for good. Those routes never got significant ridership increases although NICE likes to think so, but has yet to release any route ridership statistics. Doesn't anyone else here think NICE is corrupt? No, it won't. The n20 is going to be destroyed and ridership will continue to decrease. I will say that I expect the n20G (Flushing - Great Neck) to either stay the same or decrease slightly in ridership since there is a ton of ridership on that portion. I do expect the n20H to decrease in ridership because the connection to Flushing or Queens isn't there anymore. The lines at Great Neck during rush hours will be absurd, and I predict it will just get worse and worse. And yet, with all the problems that NICE is facing and the failure that the service has become, this guy complains that you still have to pay by quarters: ----------------------------------------- LINK: https://www.newsday.com/opinion/letters/letter-nassau-buses-should-take-bills-1.11208805 The Nassau Inter-County Express bus system is a failure on many levels [“$500 million in NY, LI bus subsidies restored,” News, Dec. 2]. The fares must be paid in quarters, which are hard to obtain because none of the stores in Hempstead will give you change. I have traveled to many cities, and most municipal buses will take a dollar bill. I’m interested in civil rights history, and I’ve traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, and stood in the pulpit from which Martin Luther King Jr. preached and visited the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee. I think Rosa Parks’ memory deserves a cleaner bus station than the one that bears her name in Hempstead, and it should have a way to provide riders with change. A quarter machine would improve services for those of us who can’t afford MetroCards and need to get to work on time. Stephen W. Abadie, South Hempstead -----------------------------------------
