  1. why is there such a huge fail rate other then people failing there signal test and finding out this isnt the job they wanted? i just have a feeling people just took this exam for the hell of it and when they see what the job involves they just quit and go back to there office jobs?

  2. thank you very much running on rails appreciate it trust me bro....just nervous because im leaving my job after 10 years knowing i had great benifets but the pay sucked..im just over thinking this challenge due to hearing horror stories of people failing signal test or over running a station and they get canned and left without a job..

signal test seems to be a lot more of the stress, when the TSS give practice exams do they keep the exams? or you get to take it back home and study it? everything on the practice exams should be covered for the final exams?

  3. @tprashad, keep positive thinking, its a new career, fresh start. Always think of rewards when you are done with school. I revert to one thing all the time and that is. I took the test from the get go for a reason because either i wasnt happy where i was or it was time to move on to other things and better longevity. Otherwise non of us would take a test for a new job/career if we didnt need the change!

Best of luck, there is bunch of us who will do it as well. Hopefully down the line we can all look back and have no regrets!

your letter should be in the mail soon bro, your absolutely right bro..got to keep a positive mind and just give it all you got..

  4. I hear that ,my starting day is coming soon and I've been really stressed out knowing there a chance something like this would happen but I will give it all I have ..it's been in my head knowing I'm leaving a job to do this and myself is married with a 3 year old and everyday it crosses my mind what if...

  5. Yes, I'm still training as of right now in the YX portion of the schedule. And the job is great. I tend to stay away from giving school car advice to those that aren't on the job yet because every individual experience is different. I will say enjoy this time you have with your family now and when school car starts, immerse yourself 100% into learning all your equipment and studying your signals. If you do that everything else will fall in place most times. Stay well.

appreciate it thanks for your advice and honesty..yea that will be my only problem is spending time with my family after school car but they understand im doing this for them to have a better life and stop renting and buying my own house..

  6. thats subwayguy, hopefully they do this  lol

hope we dont have a terrible winter as well during training etc

@tprachad0719 hey man, do you know if there is more class coming after the Oct 26 one?

i heard there supposed to be 2 more classes in Nov and Dec

  7. thats a tough choice, i would take the advice of mikeen and see if you can start another date, maybe the last class dec?? i wouldnt chance the sanitation because they can call you way later down the line where you can already have some senority within the MTA and maybe you can transfer to sanitation ? but have city time already in your side?
