  1. I wouldn't restructure too much in Queens because most of the express buses run during peak periods, and those running off-peak are in areas that are away from the LIRR.  Service that runs out there off-peak is usually for network coverage, so you don't just cut that because there's only a few people riding. I've been on Metro-North trains and LIRR trains where there were only a few people riding.  Do we cut that too?

When did I say to cut it?   I agree with you that service shouldn't be cut, instead these buses should be restructured so that they can get as many passengers as possible, also I want it expanded in some other areas where the bus already travels through but does not stop at. Well looks like its time to throw in my ideas. Why not have the QM1/4 do pick ups and drop offs along Queens blvd, up until Woodhaven blvd. Since these buses are going shorter distance, have space for more people, and there are already taking this route. To my knowledge there are a decent amount of senior citizen in that area where the service could be utilized. Furthermore if it only attracts one ride per bus, it wouldn't affect too much because it technically still takes the same route. please don't give me that service road vs main road BS, with traffic the difference is really little.

  2. Although I'm not going to really interpret whether or not BM5 idea is a good one or not. Queens has a lot of room for restructuring, especially considering the roads these buses travel on making, travel inefficient for many current and potential riders. With the exception to Woodhaven blvd because I don't have enough ridership knowledge on that portion of the route. A lot of these lines have a lot more potential then they are showing. Even with buses that are doing "well," there are still a lot of seats that could be filled but aren't being filled. pretty much a lot of change need to happen on most MTAB Express routes cause a lot of them a struggling off peak. NYCTS on the other hand their off peak expressus routes are actually doing good even with the X17 BS and they need more service. Why? cause they are structure pretty well for their environment. The MTA should not be running a bus for two people especially if there is a lot of room to increase ridership. I'm not going to post my ideas today but BM5's proposal did make me think a little about what I would want to do.

  3. honestly since there is a lot of redevelopment in the phase two are an elevated line might not be too bad as long is it done correctly. Meaning they do everything they can to reduce noise. If the MTA even gets lucky, they could have a station inside a building that built over second ave or something and the people building that build the building would pay for the station.

  4. Things I have noticed, seen, or have questions about recently:

    • XD40's on CS routes suck
    • any time I get on an CS XD40 its always crowded and feels like it has less standing space
    • I have never seen air assist work on any of the city's XD40 untill I rode a CS XD40
    • I miss those tapes to request stops, by the roof on the OV's
    • Why are there so many shorties on the Q44 recently, like more than normal?
    • CS won the 2015 bus roadeo as stated by the huge banner in front of the depot when i pass by on the <7>
    • Bus drivers have gotten a lot ruder recently ever since school started this year (excluding express buses)

    • Someone on the Transit photos and videos in FB group caught another VII on the QM15
    • There is no bus bullets for Queens, Manhattan, and Staten Island routes on the forums

    That is all

  5. Caught 6073 on the Q20. I have not seen one XD40 on the Q20 yet and I know they have ran on it before. I couldn't believe that it is still easy to catch a Orion V on the Q20.

I've been on one once and I usually see one in the morning going the opp direction from me

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! How could you do this to me?2015-09-24-01-19-08_zpsbz29nhyt.png

Its was bound to happen there always shorties on that route when it sSBS i bet you'll see LFSA and XD40 because they can display blue text

  6. Looking I was wrong and I made a mistake. I don't believe a College Point express route could sustain itself, but if College Point did want its own route, it would have to act a supplement to an existing route such as the QM20. That's why I originally put them together. However at the same time those supplement buses could be useful for having some 3rd ave QM20 service having the College Point bus filling in the 6th ave gap. Although it's not 100% solid it has potential. Hopefully that clarified what I was thinking at the time.

  7. I don't ever see the (7) going to New Jersey. I rather see an 10th Ave Station and a possible extension south in Chelsea.

Extending the (7) to new jersey is money that could be use to building the 10th ave station or rehashing the ARC Project. IMO moving the (7) further to jersey is funding for more CBTC components & infrastructure etc... I quiet frankly dont ever see it happening in my lifetime and think theres other resources that would make more sense to fund like second ave subway or better yet maintaining the current subways infrastructure.

If we want the (7)<7> to go NJ it should be NJ paying for it not NY they get the benefit not us. Also the (7) to NJ is an alternative to the gateway tunnel. They need to desperately make repairs to the current tunnels from NY to NJ so it's not impossible, but unlikely.

I saw. Whens the last train to Times Square tomorrow?

Go to Main st around 12:15, when they announce the first train to 34th ST get on the train that leaves before that

  8. Is that bus actually used down there? I get the QM16 as Neponsit is very affluent, but an express bus in an urban area with subway service... Doesn't seem like it would do too well..

So do people use it down there? Last I saw ridership dropped considerably on the QM17. Far Rockaway is affordable so I would think that most people move down there for that reason and just take the (A) to save money.

Last time I rode the Qm17 Like I said a while ago at the last stop the driver told me to run. As for passengers most people get off earlier in the rockaways. I was the only one who went to the last stop.

  9. I dont usually ride express buses so I was just wondering how transfers from the subway / local bus to express bus work...

when transferring to an express bus from subway/local bus you pay $3.25 I I prefer to just transfer from one express bus to another which is free
