  1. What exactly is it that you keep going on and on about?  NYCT buses are supposed to serve Manhattan and the outer boroughs, period.  Long Island, New Jersey and Westchester can provide their own transportation with THEIR TAX dollars.  I don't want my tax dollars supporting Westchester's transportation or Long Island or New Jersey. It's already annoying enough to have those damn people from South Yonkers coming down to Riverdale using our express buses.

People seriously do that? That negates the whole purpose of the rail road and the fact it adds way too much time to their commutes

  2. True but like I said there are already. 3 lines that operate in Nassau from NYCT and another 4 from MTAB so it's possible for more NYCT lines to go to Nassau especially when there is no NICE bus running parallel to those lines and if you want to talk about how those lines "skim the border" check the Q111

  3. On the X1 line there is a stop code 404823 @ CENTRE ST/BROOME ST  and I never seen buses go that way, however on the transit app the buses that do go there depart the transit center at 8:12, 8:18, 8:30, 1:35, 2:35. Would someone care to explain if they do it, and why they do it, thank you.

  4. Is corona yard not comfortable putting ad wraps on the R188s?

I think the reason they are wrapping the 62a over the 188 are because 62a warps generate more money, because they do they inside as well, The NTT's have never done interior ad wrapping yet, but I like the fact they are ad wrapping the 62a trains, cause for some reason I always notice there are less ppl on 62a trains every time I ride. Now w/ the ad wrap train they get about the same amount of people compared to a 188

  5. Didn't really want to start a new thread on this, but since there are continuing discussions regarding pedestrians vs. buses, thought it appropraite to "test" this here:

Moseying around online, happened to see this over on SEPTA, with their testing of the "Safe Turn Alert" program on buses:

    http://www.septa.org/safety/bus-turn-alert.html

Noticed they already use this on LA Metro, PACE, GCRTA and Maryland, so a couple quick questions:

--Anyone encountered this system in their travels or anyone from SEPTA-region seen/used this in action?

--On its face, it seems something the MTA could consider using, due to the problems on the streets.  Anyone think so as well?  Naturally, this wouldn't be a cure-all, since stupidity never takes a day off.  Or would it turn into something that's just tuned-out?

NICE buses do it and it's annoying tbh

  6. How can make statements about ridership on the QM4 when you've never used it? Looking at how full an express bus is at one stop can be quite deceiving.  I know because a lot of them can empty out quickly at various stops.  For what's worth, the QM4's weekend ridership went up, not by much, but it still increased.

I always ride the QM4 whenever I can especially during midday or mornings cause the bus just ends up becoming a taxi, I get them to drop me off where the X51 used to go. But I can tell the B/O's get pissed off cause they were hoping for an empty run and I get on at the last stop.

The QM3 would have to have A LOT more buses to see droves of folks using it.  I imagine many just drive over to Union Turnpike where they have the QM5 and QM6 running frequently, along with the QM1 further up.  For what it's worth I use the QM2 on weekends, and overall ridership isn't that heavy, as was the case yesterday when I used it, but it's improving.

Why does the QM3 have such horrible service all the other rush hour buses have like more than 5 departures. The QM3 should be running it from like 6:00 to like 9ish

  7. The QM21 at this point is another lost cause because it also competes with local/limited routes and generally not many demand an express route in its area.

If any one has noticed the qm21 either on the same X63 route or very close proximity to it. Honestly I don't think it's horrible because it give some riders a shorter wait time and has longer operating hours especially in the PM hours. Furthermore it takes the highway on its PM trip which is more appealing to the average customer. When I see the QM21 and X63 I thing of the QM7/QM8 or the QM1/QM5, sure the QM1, QM7 and, QM21 get less people than their counterparts, but they also cover less surface. The main reason I think we still have the QM21 is the same reason we have QM7 and QM1

  8. 8005 is on the X68. I was pissed when I saw it at 42 and Madison, thinking it was a Q32 loan, and given how close I was to it, but didn't make it. I was thinking to go to Jamaica and see if I could potentially catch it, but by the time I got to Grand central, the bus was already at 57 street, and LIRR fare is a rip off. Rather decided to not to.

It's the summer. Buses are prone have problems. Express bus runs I believe are mandated to have any bus run, even if there's a shortage. Still remember the multiple times Hybrids have been on the QM15/QM16/QM17, and the RTS on the X68.

I still remember seeing a hybrid on the QM21 one morning

I was talking about these Were you all serious?

  9. SI is too far away and the bronx is all MTA Bus for express buses. Furthermore SI isshort on express buses, I don't know where these extra buses are coming from.

I thought with all the extra prevost they were getting they would have enough to fill for queens I mean they just past 2600"s I've seen 2600 2602 and 2605 on the X1 today

  10. Going back to what I said a while ago an Express route to the East Bronx from downtown is very possible considering that plenty of queens express bus route exceed 1 hour in travel time and this is also a downtown route meaning its going further. My BXM5 idea saves people time from not having to transfer to the BXM18 which is already slow, and transferring adds to a person's trip than my proposed route.

So here are some of my other ideas:

    Okay some notes:

X51 and X52 are the same in Queens one servies Midtown the other Downtown

X51 Follows a route similar to it old route however its extended to Bayside  I feel the original reason it got was because it did serve enough neighborhoods, it was too short which meant it wasn't reaching all potential customers.)

X53 Okay I know near Douglaston the roads are very tight, but the X17, X21, and X22/X22A also travel on some very narrow roads with drivers speeding through them, so it's not impossible.

X53 Where the bus turns around that area would need to be readjusted to handle buses making U turns.

X53 Not all buses have to start there, maybe like two in the morning and two in the afternoon the rest could  coming back. The rest can start and end at Northern blvd.

  11. I don't really see what he's smoking, since we have BM2 and BxM4 routes which run through low income areas, and X22-length routes. Granted, the route shouldn't go north of Co-Op City, but it is not a bad idea overall. I had a similar idea, except it served more of throggs neck

Also don't forget the QM17, I remember i got on it trying to get to the LIRR station in the rockaways, and at the last stop the driver told me to GTFO and run because of how bad the neighborhood is.

Speaking about the BXM4, how the heck is it even an express bus seriously it doesn't really even have an express portion it just a long ass LTD route.

  12. Yeah that could work too but let's say x22 ran midday every hour cause let's face it if they gave midday service it wouldn't be 30 min and 1 hour head ways are common in other boro's then wouldn't that be the first and only line the run through jersey off peak which could cause other concerns cause it's something the MTA jade t done and the x17 already has 3 branches which is already a lot so this would be interesting to see a solution that can fit everyone's needs but your right about how it's faster to take the local bus so that already implies that the x17 isn't really popular past Arden heights especially since it looks like it goes all over the island in the map

  13. I disagree with the X1 and X17 weekday ideas. While the X1 would make trips faster for midtown residents, you're still screwing riders over who need points in between. The X17 service would be.more frequent, but I don't think that's yet needed. Buses should run every 30 minutes along the entire X17 route as it is. 40 minute frequencies aren't gonna cut it.

I know 40 is annoying but it's only before the transit center starting at the transit center onwards it's 20min from additional buses starting there and the reason why I gave that idea was because whenever I take the x17 to Manhattan which would be from SI mall there very little people usually around 3-5 ppl then after the mall the bus becomes almost full so that why I think service after the center need to be increased but before the center could survive a decrease of service
