  1. That is exactly why I said "as of right now", doesn't mean it can't or won't happen. However I would like to note there is no second design for the M9 for Metro North, LIRR is getting M9/M9A's. M9's are funded by the MTA, while M9A's are the exact same car but add an A to note they are federally funded cars. These cars wont have any differences.
  2. Actually, as of right now, MNRR is getting 0 M9's. That's a fact, go look at the latest procurement documents.
  3. Most LIRR journeys are 30+ miles. and most people don't carry bikes. I've never once seen a person go from Ronkonkoma to Penn during rush hour with a bike. Why would they design something into the car that takes so much space when they could fill it with seats instead.
  4. You stating "change order time!" would insinuate that you are stating it is a current problem. Just saying.
  5. Again, that article is TWO YEARS OLD. This problem was fixed after this problem was found by the FRA, thats what I was stating in my post. ^ This person is stating how the car had to be redesigned past 2015.
  6. Unless you have proof of any of this, its probably not true. We like to see hard facts, not word that gets scrambled through a game of telephone. Considering the FRA would have inspected the designs for the Nebraska plant before it started production in America, AND the fact that the FRA rejected the original design because it didn't meet safety standards, I would imagine they spotted that error, and that the trains come with PTC pre installed. Considering these trains are built in the 21st century, with modern microprocessors, a PTC unit shouldn't take up that much space, which I doubt it does.
  7. I think that's quite obvious just by their infrastructure alone around transportation.
  8. That's because thats US government regulations, in Japan regulations are less secure.
  9. M9's shipped today! 9001-9008 have now "officially" departed Japan for Pueblo, CA.
  10. 9001-9008 are basically MIA at the Kawasaki facility, were they shipped? If they were how long till they arrive?
  11. The M9 has a base order of 92 cars, that isnt an option. The option is for 320 new M9's for LIRR. The option for MNRR has not been discussed but then again neither has the option for LIRR.
  12. You have to remember, MNRR has a more amount of cars then the LIRR(including diesels), but with less riders. I don't think they're having a problem. The LIRR had almost 20 million more riders in 2016 than MNRR. MNRR has 885 EMUs, while LIRR has in the range of 870 or so(833 M7s')
  13. That makes absolutely no sense because first of all, the Third Rail shoe is on the trucks/bogies of the train(same trucks that are on the 142 so if it was happening on the 179 it would happen to the 142) and second of all it wouldnt be C line testing if it was happening.
  14. In other words, the M9 and the M9A's are the same exact rolling stock, but the ones with the A's at the end are federally funded, according to an inside source MNRR will not recieve any type M9's at all.
  15. The M7A was planned however at the same time and the railroad knew and had announced MNR would get the M7A at that time, there has been no announcement or plan of an M9A at this point, and Mistubishi (who is making the traction motors) did not publish M9A in their document, only M9. We also forget the Thrid Rail Type lines on MNRR have less older equipment to worry about unlike the LIRR, which still has a substantial fleet of M3's.
  16. The M7's operate 10 car on the LIRR, I dont know what you mean. The M7A's could be a different story, but as far as I'm aware there is no limit to how many cars they can operate in EMU, but as of now the M9's may be exclusive to the LIRR as there is no word of the M9A going into existence.
  17. I cant help but notice that in the testing videos, the M9 has a different horn, will the LIRR change them to the Leslie RS2M when they arrive? Just curious. https://youtu.be/Tp8NQ8qGFAk?t=6m33s
  18. So in evaluation, CBTC is a form of PTC installed, which R211's will most likely have.
  19. But the units have yet to be tested at Pueblo
  20. No, the post states the first 8 cars will be tested in pueblo, then the first 14 will be tested on LIRR property after the initial 8.
  21. Thanks! is that when the units will arrive in Pueblo, CO?
  22. 9009-9012 are nearing completion, which means 9001-9007 should be shipped soon if the schedule is correct https://youtu.be/0Kq1d6d_NNQ
  23. The window sizes on the M7, M8, and M9, are all exactly the same because its cheaper that way.
  24. Looks like 9007-9008 have been track tested as well. They've been sent to the shipment area where they will be wrapped and transported by barge to the shipping port if they're there for that reason.. https://youtu.be/fMMdT3Z4Jek?t=2m18s
