I'm curious to where the remaining R32s will be placed. Unless the TA decides to say screw it an replace all of them.

Are they supposed to have a different propulsion? I find the propulsion on the 160s quite annoying.Casual observations from last night:
-Interior sign looks wider than on the 160s. Still has the black trim around it.
-The FIND map is still the same
-Looped interior standee poles. Same ones 9798-9802 have.
-Door fault lights are a lot more noticeable as Subway Guy pointed out. They're placed lower on the walls compared to the 160, with a metal oval surrounding it.
Other than that, nothing else really special about it.

TBH not really that hype for these cars they are exactly like the 160s except a different propulsion. I will be looking forward to riding them. Hopefully they will go into service on Thursday.

To bad it won't be for long I've had a hard time tracking 9071 since my bustime is currently acting up.9071 has still got it. 20 years old (build date June of 1996) and hauling today on the Queensboro.

Can't wait to ride on them they are going to look nice with the color scheme.They actually have about about 24-26 out of service at the moment.
In other news, the first 2 of the new XN40's are here!! With 8 more on the way.

The R38s had to be desperately retired because of thier conditions(I've been in public toilets cleaner than thier interiors) so they were out. The R40s should of been kept I'd rather them here than the R42s but what's done is done we have to play what the hand we have.And why the should have not been so quick to scrap the R38s/40s. Had they done that, maybe they were not in the best shape, but could have at least handled some of the load lost when the R44s had to be retired unexpectedly.

They just use the M2s for rush hour they are just used for extra trains pretty much.I thought all the M2/M4/M6s were retired? I saw one at a platform in GCT the other day. Wasn't during rush hours either, it was something like 8:30.

That's pretty cool maybe it can help with the traffic problem in Flushing.Long term, Flushing needs both a residential parking program and some sort of medium capacity transit for its feeder buses. Here in Seattle they have a tunnel to separate buses and light rail from the horrific congestion above.

Nope, The is out because of the Montague st tube situation. If the R32s go to the are they going to be full length trains?Maybe the is a possibility.

The subway cars look great looking forward to riding them. It's especially nice that that are bringing back the signs on the front gives them color.

Have every Member of the NYCT Transit forums sue Bombardier so they know that they messed up big time (and we can split the money we earned evenly, $150 for each member here , everyone except Bombardier wins as that company goes bankrupt)

Barely find any R142as on the nowadays 473 R188 cars are assigned to Corona. Does anybody like the new R188 sign update? I think it's pretty cool.

(Not to sound condescending).Not necessarily, at this point, they should look pretty much the same if they were maintained with the same standards, but they're not. 93-9800's at Jamaica look worse than some of the older 160's. And exterior wise, yes R142s on the look better than the ones on the because 239th does not clean their cars well, but on the interior, the cars look pretty much the same. It really depends on how the yard treats them. A three year difference between the R142A's at Westchester and the R142A/Supplementals at Jerome, had they both been maintained equally with the same standards, would look the same regardless of the age. A new train that's a few years old and a new train that's brand new are obviously going to look different (For example, let's just say R188 7899 and R188 7935), but after a couple of years, the trains are going to gather the same rust and grime, regardless if they were built at the beginning of the order or the end of the order. However, the main issue I have with Westchester maintenance is the interiors of the cars. Let's take two sets, one from Westchester and one from Jerome, both built around the same time, and compare.
For the sake of comparison, we'll just have 7651-7655 from Westchester and 7666-7670 from Jerome. The only sets in between these are 7656-7660 and 7661-7665 (the reason I am skipping around those is because they have been switched around from Westchester to Jerome so it's hard to evaluate their state based on one yard). 7651-7655 (based at Westchester) is in terrible condition. When I rode 7651, it's lights were super dim, the light covers had grime in them, the LED interior displays were faded and worn, the strip map LED lights were barely visible they were so dim, and on the outside the train was just terrible looking. Not to mention, there are several videos on YouTube of 7652 with propulsion issues.
Now when I rode 7666-7670 (just two sets away), it was much different. The lights were brighter (not crazy bright, but they were in ok condition), the exterior was clean, as well as the interior. Everything seemed to be in acceptable and working order, and it was a smooth ride, unlike 7651 which buckled constantly. There is a very big difference in maintenance between the two yards. For some sets, yes the newer Supplemental order of R142A's do look newer than the older R142A's, and yes, most newer R160's look better than the older 8700's (although, that fleet two can be used as an example of poor yard maintenance). The maintenance of a fleet depends on the yard it's at. If the yard has terrible maintenance (like Westchester, 207th or Jamaica), then the cars will look worse than cars of the same fleet that are maintained at other yards.

Only been there for a couple of days and the days and the XD60s are already getting dirtied up a little bit. A sandwich left on 5394 on the Q113 today.

I don't think that would be necessary It would be locked before anyone gets to post.I assume that the moderator who yelled at someone for such an action was mistaken. If that moderator was right in their actions, then you should definitely create your new thread.
