  1. Every day.

Everything is done (refuel, farebox probing, sweeping/mopping of floor, oils & fluids refilled) in one spot, then the bus gets washed and parked.

That's funny I just rode an Orion VII Hybrid on the Q112 today with ink all over the seats and a broken back door which the B/O got up out of her seat and tried to fix (It was a little funny actually)

  2. Have to agree on the uncomfortable ride of the Xcelsiors. All of SMART's fleet is Gilligs (mostly 2002-3 models) and rode some DDOT (Detroit) buses this week, which are majority New Flyers. Caught an Xcelsior 40 and boy was it horrible over the potholes and road dips. Even saw an XD60 coming the opposite way and noticed it "jump" and flex as driver went over a particularly nasty part of Woodward (due to all the M-1 Rail construction which has left all sorts of craters everywhere).

Got on #4190, an oldie 2005 XD40 for a brief ride, and man that thing could accelerate, corner and had pretty low engine noise inside. Operator was a "big boy" (could barely fit in the driver compartment and bus dipped when he got on), but man did he have a heavy foot and spectacular turn abilities -- and that bus responded. Faster and quieter than the Gilligs I'm used to riding -- even the new hybrids SMART has been buying on the cheap.

Not impressed with the Xcelsiors over the old D40s. NYC may be a good bus proving ground, but DDOT puts theirs through some pretty harsh treatment as well. Don't have high hopes for these new buses coping with what DDOT and Detroit streets will be putting them through.

I like the Xcelsoirs they give me a comfortable ride it's just those potholes you need to look out for (they have me jump a couple inches from my seat sometimes) but with the C40LFs and the Orion VII Hybrids they're even worst the engine sounds great on the Xcelsiors.
  3. 1. As mentioned before, the Q6 is planned to get artics, and also is going to move the terminal in order to run them.

    2. There is an increase of artics going to MTA bus (156 including 5364) and because of that increase it seems like the Q6 is definitely getting the artics, perhaps even before the Q53.

Eh the Q6 getting artics before the Q53 nope not likely SBS needs to be implemented on Woodhaven Blvd ASAP (even though I hear Woodhaven residents says it makes no sense) I see Q17 and the Q6 are most likely going to swap terminals
  4. I'm going to start the New years off by reviving this thread (even though it's only been five days) and saying that I suggest that the Q24 should be cut back to Broadway Junction since ridership west of Broadway Junction is nothing and traffic on Broadway can be crazy (especially during PM rush hours) can take 20 minutes to get from kosciuszko st to gates ave this can speed up Q24 service (Sorry if this has already been suggested and discussed many times on here).

  5. Oh please that is not bad. Q110 riders did that for years. The big problem is that turn from Jamaica onto Guy Brewer because many times there is a vehicle who is past the white line or there are people walking or a vehicle is double parked causing that turn at times to be annoying and hard.

Traffic is crazy on Jamaica Ave especially with the amount of buses that run there my apartment isn't actually that far from Jamaica center so I can actually just walk I'm just to lazy most of the time and I just take the bus. But that traffic on Jamaica is probably why they should send it back to archer the Q112 is slower on Jamaica Ave than it is on Archer.
  6.

Due to a train with mechanical problems atVernon Blvd-Jackson Av, there is no (7) train service between 34 St-Hudson Yards andHunters Point Av.

Some 34 St-bound  trains terminate atQueensboro Plaza.

As an alternative, customers are advised to take the (E)(F)  or (R) trains to/from Manhattan.

    Allow additional travel time.

This is looking bad hope it's not a minor derailment this has been going on for an hour lots of stalled trains on the (7) lately.

  7. It's not going to be all SMEEs.

And the reliability of the R62As are fine. And are you trying to justify the vandalism that VIP described in his post?

No they are heavily vandalized I'm just saying that's not one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of R62as on the (6) and IMO the R142as will always fit the (6) the best my mistake I've heard that the (6) was supposed to become fully infected with SMEES.

  8. I guess railfans are not fans of the R62A's on the (6) ... Since it's being vandalized with removal of strip maps and placed over the rollsign or car Number stickers being removed or renumbered. 0_o

Well I'm not a big fan of R62as on the (6) because of the reliability I'm pissed that the (6) is going to be all SMEES by next year.

  9. After reading the whole thing my bad Ignore my Quote from before so the R211 is basically supposed to be a combination of the R160, R143 and R179 and is Bombardier building these or Kawasaki? If Bombardier is building these subway cars let's hope delivery won't take forever if kawasaki is building them, then I will be seriously concerned about the weight issues because kawasaki has had serious problems involving weight issues in the past.

  10. Just curious- did they ever consider building a station at 79th Street? On one hand, I don't blame them for wanting to minimize the amount of stations, but skipping over such a major cross street just seems like an error in judgment...

If it's less than 1,000 feet away from another station than nope it is completely appropriate not to have a station there but I do agree that not having a station at a major cross street is unusual.
  11. ^^^This

...I mean, Columbia University already had a stop on the (1) outside of the main campus, and with the M60 SBS both sound there and acting as the de facto crosstown line stopping at ALL of the north/south subway lines, a SAS extension across town just to benefit Columbia seems wasteful.

I definitely agree a SAS extension across towns just to benefit the people at Columbia University is pointless especially if they already have a bunch of transit options there even if those options don't take them where they want to go exactly they are a bunch of connections that they can make the whole extension would just be a waste of money
