  1. I saw somewhere on this thread someone stating that by federal law the MTA has to have 2000 track workers hired. Are you sure you are not getting this mixed up? If not, can you please provide the source of this information?
  2. There are no education or experience requirements for this position.
  3. Thanks for the rundown Steve, that was a great explanation. I hope this list will start moving so I can get in, I have a feeling I'm gonna love track.
  4. How does dual rate differ from specialist rate?
  5. Yea, and I know they are not gonna reschedule me so I guess I'm out of this one. Hopefully i get called for 3600 but the way that's going it's gonna take forever.
  6. They told us to call a number on the letter but it just says all test dates have been scheduled and hangs up. They made it seem like it was a new procedure going forward from this test. I know I was late and all but this has me pissed.
  7. Where did you take the test? I was turned away after being 10mins late.
  8. Make sure you arrive on time, I was turned back because I arrived at 9:10. From other tests that I have taken, It takes awhile just to even get into the building. Sad to say that I lost out today.
  9. Oh ok I thought you were hired from the recent posting in 2016, that gives me a bit of fate then. Thanks for giving us some feed back on the selection process, and good luck with your training. @bp98
  10. Can you shed some light? Also, can you give a little feedback as to your background as to ascertain what they were looking for?
  11. Can you let us know the highest list number range in your class?
  12. Well a friend of mines who works for LIRR said he was with some new Assitant Conductor Trainees today, thought someone in the forum got lucky. I really would have liked this position. Keep up the good fight everyone.
  13. Has anyone who applied for this job been contacted?
  14. When you guys get a chance can you let me know how it went working in track during the blizzard?
  15. I know this question may be hard to answer, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. Do you guys think they will reach the 4k list numbers? I hope you all have a prosperous new year.
  16. I also had 60 questions on my test. All an all the test was easy but there were a few tricky questions, I can't wait to see my results, I'm also taking the conductors test next year, trying to widen my odds of getting into the mta. I took the track worker test but I was in the 3xxx region, and the way the list is progressing has me a bit worried, so I'm weighting all my options to try and get in. Good luck too all.
  17. Thanks for your response also, I guess you answered my other question.
  18. Thanks, for taking the time out to give such a thorough explanation, it was very informative. I just so happend to drive pass the Linden Blvd fleet vehicle yard today and saw a couple of the vehicles in their fleet. When I mentioned the losing of the CDL priveledge, I was just think if worst case sanarior a person accumulates to many points that results in a revocation, but I guess taking a life is actually worst case sanarior (nervous chuckle). I don't presently have the CDL endorsement. Do you think it's better to get it on my own or wait for the MTA to pay for it?
  19. First, I would like to say thanks to all that posted in this thread, I've been lurking for awhile and decided to become a member because of you guys (bravo). Can anyone explain why getting a CDL might be lucrative as a track worker? What jobs are available for people coming in with CDL's? Also if one were to lose the CDL priveledge will you be fired, or just demoted back to regular track worker?
  20. I take my test on the 22nd also, can't wait to get it over with and find out my score.
