  1. Since the would be suspended this upcoming weekend 3/14-15, would the use some of the 4 car r179 sets in which they can be coupled into 5 car sets or would they let the 4 car r179 sets rest for the weekend since the won't be running. And I wonder if the would use a couple of r32 trains. I don't know if the can handle the load along the local stops in brooklyn because some of those stops can have a good amount of ridership where it is busy.

  4. Here is the 8th ave signal repair work for next weekend in a more detailed format explaining what they are doing. Planned Service Changes March 13 – 16, Friday 11:45 PM to Monday 5 AM There will be no 8 Av service at 50 St, 42 St, 34 St, 23 St, and 14 St stations. rerouted via 6 Av; rerouted via Broadway. What you need to know about your service: What’s happening? Signal equipment near W 4 St on the Eighth Av Line keeps causing frequent delays and must be fixed. Our repair crews need a full weekend of uninterrupted track access to complete this work. Targeted fixes like this are necessary as we move toward a modernized signaling system across the subway network. While we repair our legacy signal system, we’re using this outage to do prep work for a modern Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) signal system on the line. We’ll also perform structural inspections and track work. Where will service run? will be rerouted via between 59 St-Columbus Circle and W 4 St. Trains will make local stops at 23 St and 14 St. is replaced in Manhattan by rerouted and overnight local service along Central Park West. will not run. will be rerouted via between Queens Plaza and Whitehall St, the last stop. will be rerouted via between 47-50 Sts and 59 St-Columbus Circle, and via local to/from 168 St, the last stop (days/evenings). What are the best travel alternatives? Use 6 Av stations to connect with rerouted A. Use Broadway stations to connect with rerouted . Manhattan West Side, Penn Station and Port Authority Bus Terminal: Use 7 Av Line and transfer between at 59 St-Columbus Circle and at Times Sq-42 St. Lower Manhattan: will make regular stops. Transfer between at 34 St-Herald Sq and (at Cortlandt St ) and at Chambers St. Brooklyn: trains will serve all stops in Brooklyn. What else should I know? customers headed to/from the Upper East Side: Get there with service via transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq or Lexington Av/63 St . and customers north of 59 St-Columbus Circle: Nightly FASTRACK service changes will take place Mar 16 – 20 and Mar 23 – 27, affecting service between 59 St and 207 St and service between 59 St and 161 St in the Bronx. For more details visit, mta.info.
  5. There is no final decision set in stone yet. They might retire all of them this spring or retire some, then retire the rest when the r211s commence delivery. I hope they keep some of them in service because if they retire them all at once then there is going to be a shortage and that would end up becoming a disaster. I don't think there are enough cars in service to make up for the loss of r32s until the r211s come.
  6. I didn't realize how close the 42nd st Bryant park station is to the Times sq 42nd st station. It is literally one block apart. No wonder why the MTA is doing an in transfer point connection between those two stations.
  7. It's good that they are going to have an express shuttle bus running during the beach season during the train repairs along the culver line.
  8. It looks like there will be another 6th av shutdown in the future but the normally runs via the and lines, and the runs via the lines then via the line whenever the 6th av line is shutdown. trains running via the and lines might relate to track work being done along the 6th av local line.
  9. So I am guessing trains won't stop at Spring st during that weekend G.O.

  11. Let's wait and see to what modification they had to make. In this G.O. before it got taken down off the website, it doesn't mention the train stopping at spring st so I had a scenario in mind in which the train would run via the between W4th st and Jay st-metrotech but who knows. And another thing is i wonder if there is going to be any work being done along the 53rd st tunnel while the is being rerouted.
  12. There is no need to run the because you already have the running on weekends along 6th av to provide service for the project and besides the doesn't run on weekends and it would be more easier to just reroute the since it's already there on weekends. I am not sure if the train can terminate at lexington av-53rd st. It probably can, but then it would probably have to run on a single track and that would mean reduced service meaning every 20 minutes probably. That wouldn't go well for passengers along QBL. There is no need to run shuttle buses in Manhattan because you have alternative subway lines that you can use while the 8th av line is out. So I am guessing the spring st subway station would be closed as well during this weekend outage. And why bother running shuttle buses between Court sq and Queens Plaza, it's only 1 stop. People can use just the to connect to/from the at 74th st/roosevelt av and I know this would be backtracking but take the to times sq 42nd st and transfer to the there for those who need service to Jamaica Center from court sq 23rd st. You can walk also to Queens Plaza from Court Sq, it's only about a 5 to 6 minute walk between stations. I know if it's cold outside it's a different story, but if it's nice outside then it won't be no problem.
  13. I wonder if they are going to run extra trains in Brooklyn since the would be suspended.
  14. Or they can have the r32's have it's final run on the train because they been running on them for years. But I do agree that the r32's should have it's final run on the because that's where they first started on. I think the MTA should retire the r32's when it hits 60 years old. I feel like that's a big number for it to end it's run. I don't know why they are rushing these cars to retire. Wouldn't they face a car shortage if they retired all of the r32's this spring 2020. In my Opinion, I think they should wait until all of the r211's are in service and then they can start retiring them. But I think it depends on how long they can keep on going. What if the R179'S experience problems again. It's unlikely the r32's as an option would have it's final run on the due to CBTC preparation happening along the Queens Blvd Line. I think the and the would all be good options for the r32's to have it's final run if they can't run them on the .
  15. It goes express on the line making regular train station stops.

  17. Is it true that the r32s will be retired by March 2020. That the MTA really want those cars gone.
  18. And there's another r42 set currently running in service right now. It is at Lorimer street. Going towards Broadway junction.
  19. I am on it right now. It's at Fulton street Jamaica bound. About to leave Fulton street
  20. Any r42s running right now. If so where's the location.
  21. Is there any idea when they are going to release the dates and schedule for the vintage bus rides on the M42.
  22. This probably has to do with G.O's taking place. The train is occupying the middle track at 145th st during the first two weekends of this event, probably that's why on some weekends the holiday train runs to 125th st, and on others it runs to 145th st. Also Uptown trains run via 8th ave, hence the reason why the holiday train is using the 8th ave line going uptown during the first two sundays.
