Hey guys.. What are the chances of them hiring someone with a list number of 12,000? A buddy of mines has that list # and I know that exam expires in 2022..
When i called DCAS last number they are processing is in the 8,000 & hired was like 1,500 or something like that..
I was in school car last year for TO, but resigned when Sanitation called me...

Not true, provisional T/Os probationary period started on our first day. Confirmed by union and tss.
Well we heard different from the union when we got hired last month. Union told us probation won’t start until the list is established.. I don’t know why we are getting two different answers in regards to this. Which is the right answer?

When do we get the golden ticket? The LiRR is not cheap!
You get your metro card & LIRR/MetroNorth pass first day of orientation. It will say either LIRR or metro north on your metro card along with your picture in it.

Thanks, so good to know! I'll be on 430 train from where I am, transfer from Jamaica to Atlantic and take the D from there I think.
Not 100% sure, but I don’t think the LIRR to Atlantic runs early at that time. You might wanna double check. I think the earliest LIRR train to Atlantic leaves around 630 and gets there at 655.

I'm coming from LI. How tight is parking? I'm concerned about train delays and cancellations like the one on Friday. The interviewer recommended I drive in because of the "complexity " of the directions they gave us.
The TSS, instructors, recommend that we take public transportation because if there is a train delay you have to get the train car number and give it to them so they can investigate the nature of the delay, thus, you won’t get penalized for being late.
However, if you drive in and there’s traffic, accidents, etc, then they hold that against you. Remember 3 lateness and you get fired. BTW parking sucks because of the street cleaning.
One more thing to remember, school starts at 7am. let’s say you take the train which is scheduled to arrive at the stop you get off at 645am and there was a delay then you’re covered. BUT, if that train is scheduled to arrive at 659am and there is a train delay, you’re not covered because you would of been late regardless of the train delay
I would recommend take public transportation because you won’t have the headache of looking for parking and you’re covered if train is late if you would of made it on time. Besides, you can take a nap or study while you take public transportation, just don’t fall asleep and end up in Coney Island lol.

I got the same thing, but a physical piece of paper in the mail last week. It says Montague street right?
Yes Montague St. I’m assuming it’s at the same time, 7am, but I will call on Thursday to confirm.

In another thread someone said the catepillars are the most comfortable. I went with the Timberlands since I already own some, so I'm hoping there isn't a major difference between the regular boots and steel toe.
I don't know what kind of bag to get though since the green paper says no backpacks or bags with wheels and that confuses me because I see employees with both daily as I live near a subway terminal.
Yea those steel toe tims looks like they weigh a lot

From the website for the boots we have to order, anyone have any recommendations on which boots are most comfortable?

Those of you who've gone in for medical, what is that like? What things are they checking?
Was there from 7am-4pm.. they check your vision, ekg, hearing, height & weight, urine test for your sugar level, and doctor does a physical on you. Doctor measures your neck size to see if you’re at risk for sleep apnea.

I can’t say which is better since I am unfamiliar with NYCERs but I believe DSNY is tier 3 and 22 years. MTA is 25 years and tier 6.
Thanks. I have to choose between MTA T/O & Sanitation.. I guess my deciding factor will be on who has better benefits & pension.
Even tho a buddy of mines said that Sanitation is the best city job

Anyone knows who has better benefits & pension. Either MTA T/O or Sanitation?

Actually Orientation is 3 days. the first 3 days you will be At TWU doing orientation.. and its long and BORING. LOL But they are very Strict with paper work. EVERYTHING HAS TO MATCH AND BE ON POINT! When they called me, It was In april, but due to having to get another social Security card and My name was spelled wrong on my diploma, I didn't officially get hired till July 11 and started July 27th... they will work with you.. just make sure you have everything.. if you been arrested, have ur disposition letters too! Thats important!
I thought it only asks to list convictions? Arrests only applies to hiring for NYPD
