  1. Hey everyone. So I'm late to the forum cause I didn't think my

Number would reached. Well today I received my pre employment package and date for later this week

My list number is between 4000-4020 I have a few questions my first is what's the top base salery. I would be leaving a city job with fdny ems and would need to know if it's worth it. Second question is do we have to have our cdl permit for the pre employment day on the phone the guy said it would not be a problem not having it. And last question does the department put you through the cdl process similar to how sanitation does or are you on your own to get it thank you in advance

Congrats! I know a few people that didn't have have there Cdl permit and kept them there thru the pre employment then when called to counter to check there paperwork they told them to come back when they had their permit. I know starting pay is 23.26 per hour top pay was 29 and change I'm not sure if it's a little more because the starting pay went up. If you have your permit and you will be sent for RT which you have 3 chances to pass(but not all on the same day, somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

  2. I went to 180 today and they sent me to medical they took a copy of my polysomnography report. I told the person at the front why I was there and he told me it doesn't hurt to see the doctor again maybe they will lift off Medical hold(which they didn't) I will be returning in September and if my MTA still has the list then I don't have to go to dcas to restore my name on the list. If I was going for Mabsota or bus company I wouldn't have to worry about possible going to dcas to restore my name on the list. Hopefully MTA still has the TA list in September when i return.

  3. oh man that sucks my ninja. I hope it works out I say go and have a heart to heart with them it might work. if not then at least you know when you are ready you'll be among the first people in the next class.

Thank you, yes I will go down tomorrow morning and let them know. I doubt they will let me process which is OK I just don't want to think I'm not interested in the position because I am 110% just have a little bump in the road. I'll see what they and I'll report back.

  4. I'm in a bind on what to do. I got on medical hold on June 8th for sleep apena I need to use a cpap machine before I can get off. The thing is I don't have insurance until August 1 so I won't be able to get cleared until September. What happen with my insurance is a whole other story. What should I do? Should I go down to MTA to let them know. I think I have a better shot going down then actually calling them.

  5. Got a letter late, missed original date that

I was supposed to come in.

Was told to come in next day when I called.

Came 3/27 pre employment process (1st time)

    Almost 3 months later

Ms.Chestnut gives me a call and tells me to

    come in for processing again.

Came 6/15 pre employment (2nd time)

Got a call&email the following week

to come in 6/26 for medical & final processing.

    Appointed next class 7/10

I went through medical & final processing pretty easy

probably because I'm an OA switching to TA so my records

are fairly new I suppose. I've only been an operator for like 5 months.

Also my list number is 312X.

    Hope this info helps out.

Hopefully they have a class in August. I can't go back until I used my cpap machine for 30 days and then I can get off Medical hold. It's a process for me I'll be glad once I'm finally in training and have my ID.

Even though your an OA B/O you still have to do the 7/10 day training? I know you will get though it you have 5 monthes otj. I wouldn't think they would make you do the 7-10 training again.

  6. I am, i'm getting ready to head there from medford (big shock :P) for the 2pm test. You're already taking the test so lots of luck Future hope you do well. And lots of luck to anyone taking it later today with me! lol

Good luck, it wasn't a hard test, like everybody said just make sure you what they are asking for correctly. The track diagram there is a process of elimination which I did. Ex. They would have one direction which start with south when the others where all north so I ruled out the south ones. I then read the rest of the north ones and eventually it there would be a wrong way on there so I was down to 2 choices(that worked best for me) even on questions where the what details like the month year and date would be the same but the time would be like 1212 and 1221 and the correct one would be 1221.

Man I just hope they got the AC running for yall when yall get there.... because boy was it blasting star lounge when I was there... good god!

The classroom I was in had no AC

  7. I am currently on medical hold because I had to have a sleep apena test. If your necksize is greater then 17 inches they may make you take a sleep apena test as well. I tested positive which means I need to use a CPAP MACHINE for a month before I can go back to hopefully get off medical hold.

  8. I catch myself slipping up as well confusing the as stated above 742 for 724. I know you Also have to pay attention to the am and pm's as well. I always look if they are asking for am or pm then rule either am or pm then I look both the am(as an example of they went am. Then I look at the times to make sure I got the right now if they want 742 because the 724 could be right but they want the 742 am and 724 am. That's how they get you). I have my test Sunday at midwood at 830am.

  9. I don't believe that's true. I have no passion and a love for trains as a reason for taking this job. I simply saw it as a good paying job with good medical, vacation, promotional opportunity and retirement benefits for me and my family and surprise it's a job I do well. In order to pass you simply need to understand operational rules, keep up to date with bulletins and use common sense. Other than that I don't want to ride or even be on the subway when I'm off duty.

There has been a few that came on the job with a passion and love for trains alone expecting to make it then reality set in once they see how things are down here. Unfortunately some of them are no longer here. That love and passion wasn't enough to get them through.

I personally enjoy taking a train anyway. I would love to get paid for what I love doing. That's just me everybody is different. I understand it can be rough and tough if you don't have strength to deal with reality of it. This is what I want this so I will make it happen no matter what it takes.

In my eyes this to me is not then a job this is a career because I know I will wake and look forward to going to work.... Rather then me having the feel of ugh another day at work(boring) lol.

  10. I have that same attitude. YES - B is more desirable but A - B doesn't make a difference it'll work out for the best I truly believe that..

That's the right attitude to have.

    What's the difference? Sorry, I'm a noob

A Division are the number lines 1234567 and Times Square Shuttle.

B Division are the letter lines ABCDEFGJLNQR Z AND the other shuttles.

  11. Honestly some people get comfortable and change is a bit much for them. This one B/O Dispatcher I known for years said to me that he knows people who put they name on the promotional list but don't have any intentions on leaving they position because they're comfortable. They not trying to go thru months of training and being a extra extra when they got it made now. So I ask why they even do it then and he said simply because it's something to talk about amongst each other lmao.

I just read on another thread that people are turning down the position base off not getting the division they want.

I want to get into B division but if I have to take A division to live my dream then I will. The more people that turn it down the faster the list will move and hopefully this t/o list will be established a little bit faster.

  12. Wow ok. When you went back a second time was it pass your 90 days?Anyone have any updates? last number called or if anyone know if they reached the 33** yet

A little over 60 days, I think they wanted me to into the June 12th class which I would be fine didn't get knew medical hold for sleep apena. All my other test where good but my necksize was greater then 17inches it was 19 inches

  13. Hello everyone i wanted to know if anyone know what happens if your approaching 90 days since you went for pre employment and you didnt get a call for the medical as of yet. Do they make you go to do pre employment again or what happens?

When I went back the 2nd time they me fill out the pre employment package again even tho I went in March. I was mailed another pre employment packet and had to fill it out. This time I was called back for medical the following week tho.

  14. I think you have to a passion and a love for trains in order to pass I'll be the happiest person alive once I become a T/O thats my dream job since I was a kid! The money is great etc... But you will only be happy if you really like trains otherwise in my opinion you may be not as happy or miserable juat my 2 cents. Good luck to all I got my test on June 25th at 830am.

  15. Same boat future. Looking for the take home, my bro did one I'll post the dr info but ran him 400. Insurance can cover but it was a wait for them to do it.

400 for the whole isn't to bad. It's worth the money. Thanks for the contact appreciate it.

Hoeofully we get this done and get into the next class

  16. I'm on medical hold for none other then sleep apena test my damn necksize has to be 19 lol. Everything else checked out fine my bp my ekg my hearing vision urine sample all is good but this damn necksize got me. Time to get this done asap.

  17. June 12 is the next class for 4600 I confirmed today. Hopefully I get called for medical next week and maybe make that class(wishful thinking). I was also told they invite more people to pre employment then needed just in case(people fail Dt or move or can't make a class medical hold etc.) So if they don't get you into any of the next class they bring you back for PE and DT I guess until you get into a class.

  18. Quick update speak to ms. Chestnut, I have fill out the pre employment package again and she told me I could report tommorrow or next week. I will be reporting tomorrow morning since I'm free all day. Hopefully if all goes well I can get into the June 12th. class.

  19. If you are free tomorrow (that is the entire day), Thursday, just show up and explain the situation  - you never know.

March 27 to May 31 is approximately 90 days, so you would have to redo the drug test again.

The pay rate went up to coincide with the recently ratified Transport Worker's Union (TWU) Local 100 contract (TA Surface) with the MTA (again, specifically TA). Note, however, if you were to transfer to Staten Island, who's operators are represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 726, you would (until a contract, containing a pay raise is negotiated & ratified) revert to the $22.69 rate. Not sure about Queens Division who is represented by ATU Local 1056 .

Thank you unfortunately I am not free all day tomorrow but I will call them. March 27 to may 31 is a lil more then 60 days so technically I have 30 more days. Hopefully they tell me it's a mistake and take the drug test and then do medical that would be sweet(wishful thinking) lol.

  20. Here is my unique situation. I get home from work and have a letter from MTA and it was for pre employment today may 31st at 730am. It the letter was dated may 25th and post marked may 26th. It's OK I will call them tommorrow, however I already went to pee employment on March 27th so I'm wondering why they are sending another letter with the pre employment application. I also noticed the rate of pay went up from 22.67 to 23.26 per hour. I can't wait to give a call no found out why I have gotten skipped for medical. What list number where you guys that medical today if you don't me asking? I'm list 312x
