    Hey,

I received an email for the invitation as well.  They gave a deadline to respond and also had several attachments with forms to be filled out.  Judging by all I have read in this thread it seems like a grueling process.

To those already on board, do you have to bid for shifts or are you automatically assigned late night shits as a newbie.

Ohhhh yeeeah, they're gonna tell you every day what you're working the next day.  You'll have no choice for months

@IronHorse So I don’t have to worry about a quiz getting thrown at me randomly the first three days? I know the stuff and I’m constantly going over it, just don’t want it to be like “Suprise! If you don’t pass this today, you don’t go any further…”

The Monday after your orientation is Book of Rules 😁...... all your questions will be answered there

Good luck man! Can you get back to me if the rest of that class we passed with is there? Just want to get an idea if i should apply again when the position is up again.

I would email Linda Oliver and follow up to see if they "lost your paperwork".  Happens more than you think.........some people get hired because of the way they "pound the pavement" 😁

@IronHorse Do you know exactly how the first day goes?

1st 3 days are orientation.  1st day is filling out paperwork for benefits, MTA heads talking to you about benefits etc... LIRR peoples take turns telling you how lucky you are and to not screw it up.......couple videos and some other boring stuff.

Oh it said Monday May 16th at 8am, there's no such date in May. The Locomotive Open House is on May 6th at 8:15 *scratches head*

Well, what did you apply for Conductor or Engineer?  Reply to email to double check.

Like i believe that. I have had a conversation with every single person in class so obviously your talking garbage as well. No one in class talks behind my back im sure of it. This is my last post on this forum. Class is almost over and i will be on the trains soon instead of being locked in a classroom with all of you.  Im not posting here anymore since everyone in this forum are donkeys. GOODBYE EVERYBODY! GOOD RIDDANCE

Alright Donkey boy!  I'll see you soon and when I do, I'll greet you as Donkey boy!!

You sound like you belong in my class with the rest of them. I am not going to sit back and  allow anyone to talk to me like this, i speak my mind and if you dont like it then dont read it.  i dont care if your fresh out of class or have 25 years in. Save your posts and save yourself the embarrassment. Ill fill you in on a little something lappajj, you have any idea how many people out there are jordan fans? Your a donkey.  im not the only jordan fan out there. Worry about your job not mine.

Yo donkey boy!  I'm gonna be looking for you.  You one disrespectful lil punk.  In fact, when I find you I'm gonna put my foot in your a$$hole!

Can anyone offer some advice on applying for the position being that most of you on this forum have had success. I see they just posted a new opening LIRR Assistant Cond. on the MTA career website. I have applied for this position before but have not had success. Did you include an cover letter with your resume or just the resume.  Does it help at all if you are a current MTA employee (currently I am with MTA NYCT and looking to get into the LIRR). I am trying to see if there is anything I can do to increase the chance of getting a call. Thanks any advice or help is appreciated. !

If your resume hasn't gotten you pulled for the open house yet, you have to redo it.  They pull resumes off a keyword formula. Have customer service shit highlighted, money experience, etc.....or have someone else make your resume for you.

This is very discouraging, my class is made up of a bunch of donkeys. We already had one person fail the book of rules test and now we are right in the middle of air breaks. One girl in the class literally broke down and was crying her eyes out over air brakes. I have never seen so many grown men so scared as these guys in this class. We do go out and look at all the stuff on all the different types of trains and i am at the point where i am super bored in class.

If you just passed your signals and definitions test this past week think long and hard about working here as an a/c. All you do is study within a half hour of waking up all the way up until you close your eyes for bed.

If for some reason you decide you dont want to to study for just one night you fall very far behind. When they say you will have no life you really dont have any life at all for years. So consider this a warning ac class sucks think twice before you actually take the job.

Wow, you sound like a real cry baby pal!  Do the RR a favor and dropout now..........mommy & daddy probably wiped your @$$ till you were an adult.  Whah, whah, 😢😭😭😭😭.  Grow a pair of balls and put a sock in it.  Geez!

I thought this would be important to share in this thread... I am starting class 2/13/19.

I called Linda up last week to ask her if it would be possible for me to be put into the next class instead of starting in the feb class. I told her the current situation i have going on which is why i was asking to be put into the next class. She totally sympathized with me but told me that there is a FREEZE and she has no idea when the next class will even be so i have to be in the feb class if i want the job.

I only have a basic idea of what a freeze is. Can anyone shed some light on what a “Freeze” actually means? how long will the freeze last?

It means "now or never".  $$ is drying up and you may never get called or get called after freeze however it's not a wise move to ignore the opportunity.

Wow really. I wish they would of told us that. Thanks Ironhorse. Just cleared my medical on Friday start class on the feb 13th!

Ya got 2 weeks roughly to learn assistant Conductor book of rules which includes all signals, definitions, and those pesky horns & buzzers so if you know em mostly goin into class you got more room to learn the new stuff they gonna jam down ya throat.  Good luck

Can someone please tell me for rule 14 - - O - do we need to know the whole entire indication verbatim or only certain parts??

Nah, don't sweat it.  Your instructor will tell you what you need to know.  I learned it verbatim......waste  of f'ing time

Thanks for clearing that up. I have boots that’ll work for class so I can hold off a few more months before I have to purchase new ones.

I actually wear steel toe timberland pro's.  The upside is when I'm caught in the hustle bustle flow of passengers if my feet get stomped I don't feel it however if I stomp on someone's foot walking through the train consist they will most definitely feel it!
