Hi everyone.. i passed my sd test in july and i was wondering if anyone has heard anything about any upcoming classes at all? im starting to get nervous being that its almost 5 months and i have still yet to hear anything at all about any upcoming classes. Can someone please let me know if there is any word or even rumors about upcoming classes. thank u all.

Email Linda Oliver and her assistant if you want the job.  There's no point to sit here in this forum pondering your dilemma of what to do.  Email those 2 people, CC them both.  It's been stated in here numerous times if they ain't calling, you need to reach out to them.

Does anyone recall where the entrance to the hillside facility is located?

I’m looking on google street view and don’t see an actual entrance? There is a ramp entrance with a guard station on 183rd for authorized vehicles by liberty avenue, is that the entrance? I’m due at 8:00am tomorrow and didnt want to be late looking around for it.

They were supposed to give you a timetable to get to Hillside by train.  You need to take a train to Hillside. Where are you coming from?

The HR replied back to me pretty quick but I only sent 3 emails so far (2-3 months in gap). They responded to me with the message "there might be a class in between...." or "we did not receive a schedule yet".

Don't listen to anything else, send those "I'm checking in emails" monthly.  Trust me!

@snoopys16 ahh ok. Thank you for the info. I have been waiting for 7 months after completing all the hiring process.

    orientation + cognitive exam -> S &D exam -> basic training -> panel interview

First, they said there will be a class between September and October, then between November and December. Now they said there aren't any classes scheduled for 2019. It is making me wonder if I'm still in the "pool of the candidates" or on the "list".

Sometimes they forget about you.  If it's been awhile it doesn't hurt to inquire with a email.  HR likes that shit when you bother them!

For me, the goal was to just learn it, not understand it. On the exam, I actually went through and answered all the signal names first, then I went back and wrote out the indications later. I got 100, so it worked for me lol

Nice!  I got a 100 too.  Anyway you get it done is all that matters.  I have classmates that learned from making audio logs of themselves reciting definitions. Worked for them but never could I do that.

I recommend doing the signal names first, for a couple reasons. First, you must get 100% correct on the signal names, so they are the most important part of the test. They are also the easiest thing you have to study, so it's a nice confidence boost when you are able to get them all done in about a week. Once you have those down, move onto the signal indications, so you can put some meaning behind the signals you just learned. And then finally do the definitions. You may want to intersperse some definitions in with the indications and do them together.

Strange business studying signals not at same time as indications.  I couldn't see myself learning them in 2 stages like that.

Got back from the overview today and started to make the index cards. My hands are about to fall off from all the writing. For those who passed the exam, did you study the definitions first or the signals? Just trying to get an idea of what to study first.

Pick your poison, no difference.  I did definitions 1st cuz they were harder.  Signals you blow thru 10x quicker than defs.

Well congrats to all. But that cognitive test part was bullshit. I would have still said it was BS even if I had gotten through. That part is scammy, also the timing of the whole thing. Nah I am side eyeing the whole process. I have done cognitive test before and this test aint it. I almost asked Ms. Oliver or whatever her name is if she can give me my $32.00 back.

But Good luck to who passed :)  cuz if the S&D is no joke I am going to pray for yall.

Wow, good thing you didn't make it in.......they would've weeded you out later down the line anyway with a thought process like this!  Geez

I live in Brooklyn and I have never been on the LIRR. It Looks like I have to go to Penn and go straight over to Babylon which is far as hell *slow blinks*. Nah I really have to catch 4:54 train to reach 6:08 and wait two hours. :( I am gonna really pray they hire me. Because …………...

Suck it up Buttercup.  This type shit is just the beginning for you.  But the job is so worth it.  For every person that don't make it, there's 100 behind you dying to take your spot!

    Hello

I have been invited to the open house for the initial tests for the assistant conductor trainee

my concerns are about the math section

i havent studied anything in math for a long time, and I’m afraid that I will not pass,

could u please tell how’s it like? and what type of questions? Is it deep and difficult math or just common sense counting questions?

If you could elaborate, and tell us about the cognitive and vocabulary tests as well , thank u very much

Lmao.  If you can figure out 2+2 then you're good!  I'd worry about the IQ test they give you or the cognitive abilities test as they call it.

I hate that companies are using Credit Report and Driver's License to weed out people. Do they want people to work or nah.

Ummmmm, this is not your normal company.  Getting called is like winning the lotto.  The perks here are so good, they ain't handing this shit out for free.  He's got no chance.

wow, same here. just received the email today at 11:35am for the open house in Babylon.

i am actually in the waiting line for Train Operator exam 7604, i took the A/C a while back and kind of forgot about it until i saw the email today. Can someone explain what a day is like working as an A/C? pro's and cons?

I'm on the fence if i should take the A/C since i have a good list # possibly called by early next year/mid for T/O. would anyone know if it would be a problem resigning as a probie A/C to switch to T/O?

    Thanks.

If train operator is NYC Transit, I would take LIRR over it any day of the week.  You'd be a fool not to.

I had this convo with my cousin yesterday..  If a candidate gets selected to attend the open house and doesnt go, do you think that person will ever get another oppertunity at any other position with the lirr? I said no but my cousin thinks they would.  My cousin is an a/c he graduated class back in march. He knows more than i do.

    What do u think?

I did this.  I applied in winter of 2015 and they called me for open house that December.  I was making too much $ and didn't go to open house.  I applied again in winter of 2017 and entered class that summer.  You just need to reapply. But how do you oversleep to something so important. Lol

Someone failed out of the A/C program yesterday, on the Air Brake exam. No one should be failing out, and certainly not for Air Brake. You can read 40 pages of how hard it is to get hired, don't go blowing it by getting hired and then not studying.

WTF!  Thats the second one ever and the 1st was from a new class in beginning of year.  Absolute shame, Jimmy Boyle must've been so freakin mad!!  Make it all that way and can't pass airbrake, wow!
