  1. Transit is mad shitty about how you use your sick days. No, you can't use them for whatever. If you use a sick day, someone will actually come out and check if you are at home. Using too many can put you on sick control, and it can prevent you from moving up the ladder. For those kinds of days, we have OTO which isa overtime hours where you can save up overtime hours and use them for whatever you want, but you must request the day 20 days in advance, and it has to be approved. And you can only use 72 hours (9 days) a year thanks to this union.
  2. For number 2, I take cellphone pictures of everything in that book. I also have a second one 😕
  3. Haa. I am no longer on a list. I finished conductor school car and I'll be out of probation in 8 mos.
  4. Let me just say this: I qualified for the work experience, but b/c I was hired by transit for a conductor position, all of my information got *messed up.* I'm not actually going to fight the disqualification, so if you get on the list, yay.
  5. Preach. I was like, what? But I am already a conductor off of the 6601 list, so I'm not even shook. Idk how I got hired off of a list I took a year later.
  6. Board time is $$ But honestly, it really is blood money. 😐
  7. I had to do this. I was able to get the hold cleared in one night. My neck wasn't there, but my BMI was. I did not have sleep apnea. I am actually on the road now.
  8. I would also like to mention this: a lot of the new conductors have ended up on the board. This means, we are just waiting for someone to book sick, or be taken out of service. It is possible they may delay the July / August classes or initiate a hiring freeze. Just be aware of this.
  9. What I said about August being the last class came straight from the mouth of a TSS.
  10. That is 100% what I am saying. Out my class of 57, there were a few promotionals. They went back to their former titles. 54 people passed schoolcar and they are already on the road.
  11. In all fairness, this is the top of the list. Everyone wants this job. I guarantee you all but 2 or 3 out of 40 will graduate. This isn't like the train operators where it is a 50% rate.
  12. This is the thing for the June class -- a lot of them were deferments from the first call for the April class, so they had list numbers that were 6X, 7X, 8X, 10X and so on, and had an active DT already done, just needed a medical, and when their numbers were reinstated, they'd jump ahead of any 2XX, 3XX behind them that were NOT already registered for the next class. So, I imagine that the July class is deferments from the April/June classes. You might be able to slide into an August class, but tbh, idk. My class was 50B, 7A.
  13. One thing I noticed during posting, is that they were calling a lot for Train Operators. They are not calling for extra jobs for conductors. There may be a hiring freeze. You guys have to be aware of the fact that they can do this at any time.
  14. I just want to say this: The instructor today said that there is going to be one more class, and that is it for 2018. I was in the first class, the second class already started and is full of deferments from the first class, and then there is one more class and it is also likely full of deferments from the first class. The last class is filling up, and that is it for 2018 until next year. Sorry to those that won't be able to get into this class, It will happen -- just wait.
  15. To anyone who is hired and has an upcoming class for picking shoes: DO NOT ORDER THE TIMS. The Caterpillars are the most comfortable. That is all.
  16. Hm. I got 3 wrong, but I recently got hired as a conductor. So I'd be a promotional...? Anyways.
  17. I had to defer my job role b/c I work full time at my current position. I'd prefer the MTA job, so I was OK with this :<
  18. You email requesting to decline and then go to dcas and reinstate.
  19. You need a leeter from your PCP stating your diabetes is under control. And you will be forced to take a medical every 6 months.
  20. YUp. I have insurance from my current job thank God. Idk, but that alone encourages dishonesty on the part of the applicant. That's why I'm not going into depth on the reasons of the medical hold.
  21. Alright. I got my medical hold released. Very quick. With no having to come back. I won't tell the nature of the hold, but there are too many doctors in NYC to make your medical hold longer than a day.
  22. mention it. you will likely be placed on a medical hold for substance abuse though so make sure you don't drink ever again tbh. even socially.
  23. Yes, I called her and she said DONT take the medical. Contact DCAS and have t hem restore your name to the list. Lmao. Why you did this.
