  1. I know but what if they let the (T) run as a shuttle like the (B)?

There's not going to be a T till they start building phase 3 which is south of 72nd st. For now it is just the Q to 96th and later 125th st. Also they are not going to run the T as a shuttle to 57/7th. Once the Q is shifted over up 2nd av, it stays there. Probably the Mta will bring the W back to assist the N line to Astoria like it used to.

  2. There's no choice and what would replace those cars? It won't be the R46 or such as the subway is short as is with the R44s retired. The one thing that has lessened the blow when the R44s were all retired was the M-V merge which allowed them to run shorter trains on QB and 6th av as well as trimming off unnecessary segments (V to 2nd av and M to Chambers or Bay Parkway).

  3. I went to BMCC before. It wasn't too bad, but the cafeteria area was somewhere to avoid because they tend to do god knows chaos there. If i had long breaks between classes, i spent them in the library/study room and just did my homework. If i had been more outgoing (and more interested in the area), I probably would've spent more time walking around Lower Manhattan and take some pics.

How do you not like Lucky Charms? That used to be my favorite cereal when I was a kid. Of course, I haven't eaten cereal in years, so they might have changed the flavor, which wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Speaking of lucky charms, I liked the marshmellows, but the rest of it was just awful and bland. Been years since i ate cereal from a bowl. I ate the ones packaged in bars and they were ok. But now i just have some pop tarts in the morning if I'm in a hurry.

I am the terror that flaps in the night....

I am the cat somebody let out of the bag....

I am...(crash)... all right, who put the banana peel there?

lol, god it's been years since i saw darkwing duck. That was a great show, and pity no channel airs it now.

  4. I doubt there will be much issues with the r62a rollsigns on the 6. The r62as ran there for years before being moved over to the 7. If some trains have the wrong signs, then just listen to the announcements.

To those obsessed about the r142as: please don't tell me you are going to wait like 2 hours till one shows up on the 6 because you don't like the old trains. It is not because it is 'unfairness'. It is because the mta wants the trains on the 7 to be driven by computers. Look on the bright side. Maybe in 10-15 yrs if there's money to spend, they can buy brand new trains to replace the r62as. At least other than the bucket seats, the trains have heat and ac like the new trains, so be grateful for that.

Snowblock once said that they left the R42s out in the yards during Sandy. The fact that I managed to catch any in July after that happened is a miracle in itself.

I think you might be referring to the r40m-42 willy b pair. I don't remember all the trains that got flooded in the yards, but i think at least one pair of r46 cars were damaged at 207th st station. I don't remember if they fixed that pair up or not.
  5. Its possible that with the fleets it can indeed be a full swap is because there are more R142As then you realize that will become converted sets. So the process of the conversions of the 7000 series R142As is actually continuing and not complete. 7401-7590 needs to be rebuilt as new R188 cars by 2017.In fact the R62As will become surplus cars on the IRT. Im expecting the 6 to have all in all exclusively R62A cars.

I know. By the time the last set is taken to be converted, there will still be r142as on the 6. Train for train, the 6 runs more than the 7. The 6 can't be all r62as unless the 1 ends up getting some r142s (3 is fine since there are enough r62s to cover the line). There is no need to anyway.
  6. Don't forget the delivery ones who go the wrong way on one way streets

Oh yes people on bikes in general violating the traffic laws. The governemnt has been focusing all their attention on cars, but haven't taken wreckless bike riders to task.

Unfortunately pedestrians are just as dangerous to cyclists and drivers. They need to start enforcing jay-walking laws and following signals as well. I can't even count on my two hands how many times I had to slam my brakes because some kid or person decides to cross the street when they are not suppose to.

very true. Pedestrians are also a problem being fixed on their phones or crossing the street against a 'don't walk' sign. I see this often like along canal st with the tourists and locals just crossing when they feel like it. That street needs the traffic cops because the lights don't mean a damn thing, but they are like the sacred calfs to the politicians because 'people aren't to blame, just the 'evil' car drivers'. It's no wonder things are so f'ed up.
  7. I don't think it matters, really. Either way the cookie crumbles, the NTTs will still be a minority fleet on the (6) - might as well let them keep what they know, instead of forcing them to learn the idiosyncrasies of the 142s. I don't see everyone scrambling to get the R46s off the (F), the R160s off the (R) just to keep cars at as little yards as possible.

that's because the F and R share the same yard (Av x is a storage yard for the F mainly jamaica yard handles all the E,F,R trains). 4 and 6 have different yards. So it isn't the same thing, but that said: it happens, it happens. if not, then fine. I just think that the remaining r142as would be better maintained over on the 4 than the 6.
  8. Smh i swear some of you don't pay much attention. It is simple math here. If this was a strait up 10 car for 10 car swap, then that's how it is. The thing that changes is hat the 7 gets converted units with an ADDITIONAL car so it is a 10 r62a set to the 6 and an 11 car r188 train to the 7. Train wise both lines will have what they need. On top of this There are 8 brand new 11-car, from the factory, trains that will be on the 7 to help cover the extension to 34th st. When the last r188 is on the 7, there will be additional r62a cars that would've been the 11th car on the 7 that can be put in a 10 car train to give some lines an extra train or so (via minor swaps among the other lines) or even work service.

The 6 will still have some r142as left.

All of R62A's from the (7) except the singles will return to the (6) , singles won't return since car 1909 was scrapped so they can't be linked anymore , you will probably see the singles used as work trains and a few for spares on other lines , probably the (1) or (4) . From a very good source that i have the (6) will actually have 6 sets of R142A's left over wich will be used for Pm rush hours only and maybe a set or two for am rush hour since all of the R62A's will cover service for am rush hour and then the rest will be in the yard .

All r62as will have to return back to the mainline. Some might be linked as 5 car sets OR left for the shuttle (1906-10 would be ideal for track 3) and maybe work service. The singles may or may not end up on the 6, but nothing set in stone that says those singles can't be on the 6. But basically some of those singles would be linked into 5 car sets*. The single unit cars aren't going to be left out, they will be used somewhere in the system.

*the upper 1900s-2150 were all singles before being linked, but recently linked sets may end up on the 1 so the 6 can have units that already have full width cabs, unless the newly linked units have full width cabs as well. So that can also be a factor regarding the singles.

Yeah, I know. I must have misunderstood your other post, I thought were saying that there would be excess R62As.

Why would they? Westchester's workers and crewmen are already trained on the R142As, why complicate things by making them learn the R142?

Train for train it is more or less an even trade. In the end the left over unused singles will be used for additional service across the mainline and possibly work service.

To consolidate the remaining cars to one yard. Westchester would have a handful of cars and unlike the r142s which are spread out, only the 4 and 6 has the r142as. That's why i think it would make sense to do another swap after the 7 is all r188s.

  9. These numbers don't jive. According to Joe Korner's car assignments, there are 375 R62As to go around for the (6) and (7) - arranged into 10 car trains it would give us 37 and a half trains.

90 for the (6) in the morning, 100 in the afternoon, 240 sets and 35 singles in the morning for the (7), 220 sets and 33 singles for the afternoon.

The (7) utilizes 32 trains during the AM peak, its busiest time, but the (6) uses 40 during the PM peak, which is its busiest time. At the very least 3 R142A trains would be required to make PM service, and that's not even discounting R62As #1906-1910, which will NOT be joined into a five car set due to car 1909 being scrapped. With spare rates considered for both the R62As and the R142As, the idea that some NTTs will stick around the (6) makes sense. The extra cars being ordered would be for the extension, if anything.

remember, the 6 is ideally getting all the r62as from the 7, but not all the r142as are being taken to be converted into r188s. There will still be some r142as left on the 6.

Now whether they decide to swap again to send the remaining r142as to the 4 and have the 4 keep all the remaining r142as and send over some r142s to the 6 is another matter. The r188s include new single car inserts along with i believe 8 brand new sets of 11 car trains. Even with the 7 extension to 34th st, there will be more than enough trains by the time the 7 is all r188s to have a minor car surplus for the mainline. If it was a strait up conversion with inserts and no brand new trains, then there might be an issue when 34th st opens on the 7.

They could send it to the (1) or (3).

yes, I said for other lines, but the 3 has more than enough r62s.
  10. I guess my imagination can go wild since this is only a proposal

Convert the Flushing Line from Queensboro Plaza to Flushing back to the B division and have the (R) run from Flushing to Bay Ridge-95th St and convert the Flushing Line from Hudson Yards to Queensboro Plaza to the PATH via a new PATH line.

No more (7) train unfortunately but this free's up space for another QBL service like the (G) or a future Second Ave Line, the (R) would have a AM/PM rush hour express <R> Flushing service, and there's a one seat ride to Penn Station, GCT and to Queens for Jersey riders/commuters.

You still need another set of crossovers for the lower level platform and restrict trains on the flushing line to 60' car trains as well as shaving back all the platforms (and maybe lengthening them to hold a 600' train). That said, it isn't that far off the deep end, but very unlikely especially if all the traffic is sent over to broadway. Another issue with the flushing b division idea is you take away a direct queens blvd line transfer to 59th lex and giving qb a local that they don't need or want in the G. M is a short train as it is, G is even shorter. You need a broadway line running on qb. Ideally if they could rebuild qbp, the 7 should switch with the N/Q and go up to astoria with the N/Q via flushing. But again unlikely.

As for taking the other end of the 7 line and making it a path, i really doubt it especially the whole inter agency mess on how to deal with the transfers to the mta lines. You may as well just make it a shuttle using the existing trains it runs. Also iirc, the path cars are a little wider than the irt cars, so they might not fit in the steinway tunnels.

  11. Daredevil cyclists being profiled on the news... One question. Why the hell are we (they) feeding those f****ing trolls?

Profiling them only makes them do it more. Call in the NG and SHUT. THEM. DOWN.

It's been a problem for a while and now because a woman has died, the cops are finally out starting to enforce the speed limits of those out of control cyclists. They are as dangerous as ppl driving cars. This needed to be brought ip on the news and i'm glad it has.
  12. But Fresh Pond just said the R188 order wasn't for car replacement. The R62As aren't being moved to work service, they are going to the (6).

By the time the r142as are converted and sent over to the 7 (plus new insert cars to make the existing 10 car trains into 11cars) there will be extra cars because it isn't just a 10 r142a for 10 r62a car swap. So those extra r62a that the 6 won't need could be used to boost service for the other lines or for work service.
  13. What is with this guy Michael Bay & his fixation with pyrotechnics & explosions.... Jesus Christ....

I'm still cringing on what the new TMNT movie looks like. I know transformers has done well, but not everything from the 80s needs to be re imagined.  Some things are best left alone.

  14. Cool, we picked the same options except for the big score one. Yeah, I don't think i have time for the online one, but congrats on the all trophies thing. Now I'm just playing around in my all armored up cars with franklin. tricking out the cars has been fun.

  15. Yeah I figured, a lot could go wrong with the subtle with one car being busted and a loss of a quarter of the loot. at least the obvious was the helicopters and i would rather crash my chopper than to lose the half if the other one crashed. The shootout looked tougher with the subtle as well. I don't really like close quarters compared to more open spaces.

The merryweather freighter boat heist, I did the 'subtle' where you sniped the sub off the cables than to do an airlift. Basically up till the last one I was doing the subtle choice.
The FIB tower one, I did the firetruck option instead of the parachute option.

I also fully exploited the cletus hunting 'glitch' where you can drive onto the army base and take the lazer, buzzard and tank. All of them are now saved on my properties and I'm just raising hell in all 3.

Also i got 4 ppl for the altruist cult to trigger the compound shootout. At the end it was a nice clean up of 100k from 4 briefcases. Now i can return to the compound as franklin or mike and get the rpg and armor.

  16. Chris: Have you been playing often? I've had a few free days and just played all day. I got my game in December as well, but only had time to play starting last month. Based on the total time playing as each player I have about 35-40 hrs worth. The main practice I'd recommend is sniping cuz that's a pita. Also flying planes and landing them. Also, I would recommend watching the mission vids posted on ign. They were a big help on how to do the missions/save time.

    I hope ya picked C

Yup. And glad i did. But also I have like 8 different save spots (one before the paleto heist, minor turbulence, etc). I couldn't kill the other 2 especially since i can use them to save more cars and having done the replay of the option a and b, those endings were very depressing and bad.

I didn't use any cheats in GTA III or IV. I guess it depends on the player.

Yeah, I'm not that great, but if i were to replay them now, I think i wouldn't need them. I have been replaying gta 4 and progressing much better this time than last.

  17. Finished the main storyline of gta 5. So happy with that. the big heist mission was crazy as well. This is the first game that I didn't use the cheat. It helped that they allow you to skip segments or I'd be stuck. I can't land my bike on the damn train.

  18. Thought so on the pelham sets. No need to change them back to the yellow ones. The only ones that would be changed are the ones that goes to the 1, or maybe they leave those alone as well?

And smh, some ppl need to get over it already. The r62as are here to stay on the 6.

  19. Because there is no where else to put them. The trains are still good for at least 10+years. They are not going to just scrap them and buy new trains. They should've waited till it was time to retire the r62/as and then order new trains for the 7.

  20. It was always meant to simply alleviate crowding without having to run more local service.

yup, rush hours for the most part you are probably better off sticking with the local. I always took the local as i'd eventually get a seat and wont have to be squished by the doors and standing the whole way if riding the express. The qb and lexington av express runs may save you some time, but with how slow the trains crawl, you may as well take the local and take on less stress on your way to point b.
  21. The R33s that ran on the (2) never had their yard stickers changed from black to green when they moved from the (5) to the (2) and the R26/28/29 "salad trains" that moved over to East 180th Yard retained their green stickers until the end of their service lives.

Why even go through all the trouble changing the yard stickers? They never did it when the R62s moved over from the (4) to the (3) and the R142s/142As never got them at all. I think it's time to just phase them out completely.

that's my point. They didn't change the stickers for the r62s. I din't see the need to change them for the 6. There's no need to phase them out. They'll be around till the r62as are retired. They are the last ones to still have the stickers on all the cars.
