  1. Mercedes-Benz, yes... Maybach, no... One of the ugliest "luxury" cars I've ever seen...

Indeed. Just an oversized Mercedes. I hope that line was discontinued. Lol, I think someone said the value of the car sinks rapidly in just a few years (no way anyone is making money from selling it used). They should stick with what works. Leave the luxury to Rolls Royce and Bentley.

I was thought the Fisker Karma was ugly in terms of "luxury" cars.  Maybach is eh...it's just an over-exaggerated S600 or something.

It doesn't look that bad (karma), but being a hybrid, it screams issue problems. It resembles more like a ferrari type than pure luxury.

  2. It's only the beginning. Soon the original BT&E buses will be sent all over system wide with no constancy whatsoever. Only then will the foamers be forced to search for them the old school way.

Or it could be wishful thinking on my part.

So far the splits (if it really is for SI) is confined to the individual boroughs. I think UP got back the 2 xd40s that were at MJQ. So I don't think there's any worry about them being spread out again. Now if only the MTA hurries it up on ordering the new 40' buses. Been too long waiting for the mta to choose the company. I only hope for the xd40 over the novas mainly for the seating arrangement. If there's going to be someone else besides nova and NF, then I'd hope their design is similar to the NF's interior.

Also what's the news on that byd? bus.

  3. Come to think of it, I would have done the UP-ENY swap differently. Execelsiors for their O7's.

I thought the reason UP doesn't have hybrids was because they weren't equipped to handle them or something about the roof tops being too tall for them to change the batteries. Otherwise, i guess ngs would be a good fit for UP.

  4. The Paul walker death was sudden. I wonder how they will incorporate his death in FF7. I think he was still filming scenes and it would be a bit goulish if his character was say blown up in a car or something.

Damn... How about trying online? Maybe you'll find a good deal! What system are you trying to get it for?

xbox360. But I guess i'll wait till the after christmas day sale. If I waited this long, I can wait another few weeks.

  5. Well I survived black Friday, but the main prize: gta5 was out of reach. All 3 stores I went to: best buy, target, walmart all listed it around $60. So just gonna have to wait longer for it. That said I was at the stores just before 6am, and the target was like a ghost town with a handful of people in concentrated areas. Best buy, the store looked like a mess with boxes laid around like some sort of maze. Workers there seemed more interested chatting with each other than assisting. Walmart, it wasn't too bad, being so big with ppl spread out, but the main walkways towards the exits were a bit crowded. That said nothing major other than some new sneakers and jeans and some flash drives.

  6. But with the L it is two tracks, the 7 has 3, so i don't think it'd be a good idea to remove them.

And getting back to the name of the thread, are they leaving the trains as 11car fixed sets or would they mix and match (ie: split up a 5 and 6 car set and connect them to another respective set)? it's pretty doubtful they'll use the yard loop (have they even used it or is it just a waste of steel?) since the c cars are towards the ends of the train only.

  7. Sounds like a plan. Don't get trampled.

Thanks, no worries. I've been thru a few of these. I just mind my surroundings. Plus by the time I'm there, the crowds probably picked off the main stuff already and are gone.

    You really should! :)

Oh of course. I plan on playing it all December if/when I get it. I'm going to buy it eventually, but only when the price goes down. I love the series, but I can wait for it.

Tip from a worker in the inside.... the crowds die down from 4:30/5am to about 8am. They pick up after 8 to about 8pm or so. Was talking with a manager about our lack of floor coverage in the store (but 3 cashiers coming in with in a 2 hour period), and he explained it to me. Saw the numbers to back it up.

Interms of sales... we make 3-4x as much as we would a typical busy day, but then we are open from 10pm Thursday to midnight friday. Plus some one had the brigt idea to up our sales goals, when we have never made them before... usually make 80k, some one wants us to make 100k. hahahahah..no.

Yup, that's about the time I'm out there anyway. Good tips.

  8. Exactly. I don't buy the politics bs. The 4 is a full time line and was more demanding. I don't think the R62s can't handle the 4, but since the 3 and 4 shared the same yard, it wasn't that big a deal to just shift over the R62s to the 3. Plus They have enough R62s (with a few spares) to cover the whole 3 line, so no need for a 2nd fleet to run on it.

They also ordered some extra R142As for the 4 as well, the R142s (supplements).

  9. What do you envision happening, exactly? Sending the converted R188s back to the (6) where they can be redundant for the next 10 years?

Also, did the (4) not have R62s until the 2000s? It hardly seems like the same scenario.

And it made more sense to give the older cars to the part time 3 line. I think the original plan was to give the R142s to the 3 until it was changed to bump the R62s over to the 3 and make the 3 100% R62s.

As usual he's overstating the issues. Even with the R142as on the 6, they still have the <> on the front, so not like it really matters if people are confused about if the 6 in manhattan is express. R62As have less space due to the cabs, but it's like a loss of maybe 4 seats and 4 standees per car (8 x 8 = ~64 riders that can't cram themselves into the train). Yes it adds up, but it's not end of the world drastic.

I also love how he speaks for other workers. I won't say 100% are for or against the old cars returning, but I kinda doubt it's everyone that's 'miserable'.

  10. To each their own I suppose. Even as a nocturnal person bored most nights I don't go that early anymore though, not worth it.

Well, i used to go like 7am, but with the stores opened after thursday night, the crowds aren't as bad like when it was the 'running of the bulls'. So in a way the crowds seem more spread out. I don't expect much, but I pick out whatever stuff is left. $10 for a bluray dvd movie that would've been $20+ isn't too bad. A $60 game for $35, very good. So this year I'm hoping to get gta5 for something like that especially since it's been out for over 2months.

Don't feel like a new thread, so anyone have anything going on for this upcoming holiday?

I've personally never been traditional, so I can't say I look forward to any celebration, but because I'll likely be stuck in the house the specific Thursday I'll probably do something different for dinner, pour some liquor and that's about it.

    Anyone else?

Nothing on thursday. But usually it's a meal with the family and this year it'll be on the weekend since everyone's got their own plans with their family.

  11. From the looks of it it would seem your analysis is quite correct. Most be all the suburbanites hyping it up and getting a cheap adrenaline rush in the process. F**k that shit.

with them opening up as early as thursday night, the crowds hasn't been as bad as it was before the change. I honestly don't find it too bad on black friday. Just keep away from the feeding frenzy especially on the checkout lines lol.
  12. Noticed on thursday a b11 c40lf 491? Had what looked like damage to the rear right side like something was broken off and there looked like some greenish corrosion forming there. Dunno how long ago it happened, but hope they fix it asap.

    This is just getting ridiculous.

jeez, and i thought that nonsense was put to rest a while ago, sigh can't change some habits i guess...
  13. Thanks and yeah going to be ironic that the artics (which were intended for the sbs) are nearly empty and quite frequent/bunching (or maybe it's those short turn buses?) while the locals are packed. I just hope it's first week bugs, but they really need to add back some stops for the transfer lines. In the meantime they could try to keep the B44 all RTSs since the lf buses are just bad for capacity (people hesitant to move to the back of the bus and crowding at the front).

  14. You know I'll probably get in trouble for saying this, but this needs to be said to get something loud and clear to a group of users on this site. To some users that are spying on the chat for banned users, you can spy all you want too. It's not going to matter as we will still be talking about whatever subjects we discuss.

Also for the banned users around, you losers are still not tough guys for calling anyone out on other transit sites. Here is a message for some of those users, what you say on the internet can comeback to haunt you, especially when it comes to face to face confrontations. That's all.

preach! This is why i stopped going to the chats. so fed up with the damn spying. And of course when I say something (which wasn't anything different than what someone else said), I'm the one that gets targeted for it like this summer. so forget it, not going back there anymore.

  15. I know some of you are happy, but this marks the beginning of the end. My only hope is that a few of the sets that go to the (6) keep an RFW.

I wished so, but that's pretty doubtful. If they don't convert the 2000-2100s to full width cabs, then I have a feeling those ends up on the 1.

On the R188 7, looks nice, going to take some getting used to, but a nice change for now. Eventually it'll get stale when it's nothing but R188s.

  16. Pet peeve: sitting on a bus with tons of seats and the window cracked open. Somebody comes and sits in the seat next to me and tells me the close window. Just wanna say, bitch, there ARE other seats.

lol, that's why I try to get the single seats. smh at ppl like that.

    mta bus:
The one day that I don't bring my camera, all the good stuff happens. I saw 2 NGs on the Q43, as well as 2 Bees on the Q113.

Lol, yeah I never leave without a cam. Always be prepared.

  17. I think you mean 1651-2000* for the 6 and 2001-2475* for the 1 as they should be mostly 5 car sets by now. The 1900s are still singles.

*I know the 1 doesn't need that many, I'm saying that should be the grouping, not where the cars should go. Of course there will be a difference somewhere in the middle.

  18. I just hope it isn't too hard to 'unlink' them if they ever reconstruct the TS end to handle 5 car trains. Also, they could've linked just 2 cars as a pair and left a single (for tracks 1 and 4) so they could arrange a couple of pairs for track 3. Having fixed sets of 3 or 4 is terrible for flexibility.

  19. They really didn't need to change the R62 sticker stripes since the R142/as on the 4 never got the orange stripes. Probably easier to just make orange the new color for Livonia. Agreed, ideally They should have all the 1600s-1900s on the 6 and have the 2000s and up on the 1 instead of having the 1800s and such still on the 1.

I'll be surprised if Westchester brings back the sticker. I was under the impression those weren't even ordered by the MTA anymore.

Now, my question is this: when the R188s move to the (7), what happens to the 1900-singles? Westchester doesn't need singles, and we know the crews aren't thrilled about the half cabs (as much as I like them).

It was a mistake to link those 3/4 car sets for the shuttle. They really need to get the Ts end rebuilt to hold 5 car trains already and end the short trains nonsense. Such a pita to see track 4 used for rush hours only. 1906-10 would be 4 singles left over since 1909 was scrapped and dumped on SI's landfill years ago. Wouldn't surprise me they used some of the singles for work train service and retire some of the work train redbirds.
