  1. You're trying this hard?  That's even more laughable than the service NICE provides.  It's okay, though, continue channeling your anguish through trying to volunteer for Veolia/Transdev when you know they're awful.  I love how I can make a valid statement that can become, by your ever-infinite wisdom and knowledge, invalid because it contains one criticism about the bus service here.  Everything is true - OTP is nonexistent at best, riders are even more dissatisfied (hard to achieve, and guess what: they did it!  Maybe that's one thing you can chalk up to God's Chosen Transit Company!), even these 3-year-old buses are dirty and are in dire need of maintentance, and Mango literaly could not give two shits about anyone forced to use the system.  What money is there to be saved by taxpayers if he's going to make everything else more pricey?  If NICE was "quality," why has ridership dropped by almost half?  Why are even more buses late or missing on a regular basis?  Why haven't they shown PROOF that ridership has gone up?  They sure had something going in 2012 and then there was nothing more - low employee morale/high turnover, lower ridership, and the dispatchers?  I feel for them more - they know that it's gone downhill.  Every time someone else brings this up, you (the parrot) just repeat the same shit after the same shit.

And I literally could never tire of this because laughing at your denial sure warms my heart.

    NICE sucks!

Blah blah blah my statements are valid don't throw a tantrum because some isn't wearing your shit colored glasses. Why the campaigning for the useless and overprice MTA? You wouldn't be posting this for free, because it's you're opinion, you wouldn't be volunteering your time kissing a useless state agenciys ass would you? That would make you a hypocrite!

Why do you care, I thought you finally passed your road test and were using a car.,.?

...and I post the same stuff? Have you looked at what you post?

Save your time posting a response, I really couldn't give a crapnwhat you have to say! Further more I don't want to waste my time communicating who simply can't understand that given a better funded system Transdev is better to run it over the MTA for the riders and the tax payers!

Come on Ralph-I thought by now, even you realized that NICE sucks.

  2. They are not that close together compared the M66 and M72. The M42 and M50 serve different purposes. The M42 is a tourist route and the M50 serves 50th Ave and the stores and stuff over there.

I always wondered why does the M66 run on 67th/68th Sts. on the east side instead of 65th/66th?

  3. Yesterday, I took (7) to 74th St, (E) to Jamaica Center, stop by at Duane Reade/Walgreen, then n4 to Freeport, n41 to Mineola, n23 to Pt. Washington Library, and use internet at Pt. Washington Library, walk to Shin Nara Japanese food, then try out other pizza place beside Rose's Pizza and I went to Gino's Pizza for slice of Macaronni Cheese pizza with Kiwi Strawberry Snapple Iced Tea. After that, n23 to Mineola, n22 to RFM, n16 to Rockville Cetre Station, which #1640 had destination sign broken, then took LIRR Babylon to Freeport Station, then stop by at Walgreen to get Walgreen's NICE Product, use restroom, then took n4 back to Jamaica Center. After 10:30pm n4 bus, I hit (E) to (7) home.

Today's journey is (7) to Flushing, n20 to Great Neck, n21 to Searington, n23 to Shin Nara Japanese food, then walk to library, then n23 back to Mineola, n22 to RFM, n15 to Long Beach.

Depends on anti-fracking party, Anti-Frackers might give me ride home.

I'll put full detail report later mainly on NICE Bus.

    I

We can hardly wait. What suspense.

Jeezus, you can't make this stuff up...  Will 2 more be sent?  Were these buses being towed from Cali and BOOM or were they already in NICE's possession?  The bus I saw being towed was being towed by a reputable local company, I can't imagine them hitting a low bridge.

The county really doesn't matter the problem is out of area drivers don't understand the NYC area "parkway system."  A lot of times it is some good old country boy who's never been to "the city" (and "the city"to these people is NJ, the borough's, Westchester, Nassau, & Suffolk).  First, the traffic and a**hole/dangerous drivers overwhelms them, they're not from the area and don't know where they're going...  They might be using GPS that is not used for trucks as it works everywhere else in the country...  Looking at directions, a map, or overly checking mirror, and it;s enough to miss a sign the BOOM!

I remember hearing the AM traffic lady saying truck got stuck under a bridge "trucks are NOT supposed to be there!  When will they learn and not hold up our commute!?!"  It really pissed me off because usually it's someone from out of the area who made a mistake not someone who thought "der dee der, I think I can make it anyway..."  I continually hear this idiot who is a newscaster stumble over her words, get tongue tied, who obviously makes mistakes at her job trash another profession who can probably do more in a 60 foot truck than she can in her car.

I don't care where these guys come from. I just can't understand how you can let a GPS overrule large signs saying "low clearance,no trucks",etc.

  4. Yesterday, I took (7) earlier to catch 9:25 n20 Hicksville, and (7) arrived Flushing-Main St 20 minutes earlier, then I bought Coconut Bun at Kemp Bakery, then used restroom after I asked for key. At 9:20, I exit bakery and made mad rush for 9:25, but my NYPL Copy Card and Jericho Public Library copy card drop off my card holder. I was holding my Orange reflector vest and NICE Bus B/O properly thought I was B/O, but I missed 9:25 n20 Hicksville. I was suppose to attend march for Education Protest hosted by Long Island Jobs with Justice.

Then I thought I drop my MetroCard on street, so I looked around, then went back to bakery and I put my 30-Day MetroCard in wrong place.

Then after that, I was forced to take Long Island Railroad Pt. Washington train to Penn Station, and cut across Duane Reade to Staple, where on my way to Staple, I met with elderly woman with cane from Hempstead, who rides NICE Bus and she said, "You're everywhere. This is first time I saw you here." she said. "I saw your at Hempstead." as I went to get POP Ticket from M34A SBS Machine. then went to Staple to use internet to tell Aaron I'll be late for Dream March.

Then I took LIRR Huntington train to Hicksville Station and as I was walking south on Newbridge Rd, I missed march but I was 51 person.

With Long Island Jobs with Justice and other education/graduation organizers, we were 51 persons.

Then 5 of us, LIBRU Organizer Aaron-Watkin Lopez who is Nassau County resident but stay in Suffolk County because of LIJWJ office in Happague will properly get seat in Nassau County Bus Transit Commitee and well as Long Beach Street NY organizer will might get seat for NCBTC as well.

After that, we had lunch at All You Can Eat Buffet at Indian Food in Hicksville Station.

After they drove us back to Hicksville Station, I took n20 to Columbia Drive and bought 4 bottles of Honest Tea, but on my way out to rush for n20 Hicksville, I thought I drop my MetroCard on parking lot because my card holder tag became loose. After I went back inside to check, my card holder was stuck between my NICE Bus Schedule sets.

After that I took n20 back to Hicksville Station, n79 to Walt Whitman Mall's Apple Store to make NICE Bus Schedule more organize for passengers by comparing schedules before 1/18 and new 1/18 schedules today.

I was tracking n79 via NICE Bus's website. When it became n79 Hicksville arriving in 8 minutes, I darted out from store and made to n79 bus on time, which left on time.

Then, I took n20 Flushing straight because I had to do voluteer for M60 SBS at LaGuardia Airport as well. At Glen Cove, one Chinese lady remembered me from survey and at Flushing-Main St, I went to check New World to see if there's any good whole. There was one nice Chinese vendor who wanted to give me Chicken but I told him not today. I look around, then use restroom, and use freight exit by restroom to check on n20 Roslyn, darting in front of Q48 bus, then after I handed n20 schedule, I rush across to catch Q48 into Terminal C, then helped there little, then hop on M60 SBS after getting POP Ticket, then got off at Central Terminal to help assist tourists for M60 SBS. Then after that I took Q72 home.

This is almost as entertaining as watching paint dry.

  6. those short turns carried air most of the time people simply piled onto n21s & N20 Roslyn/Hicksville. When the great neck runs ran I always saw them in queens carrying air with Roslyn or Hicksville trips minutes or sometimes seconds ahead or behind. Then again they only carried in the westbound direction eastbound was a joke.

The w/b short trips from Great Neck were always needed in the p.m. When I worked the 20 from Hicksville,I always had to leave people behind at GNRR or flag everybody after that, before the short trips were added.

  7. They should honestly give the shuttle it's own designation then. Maybe n44, or n94, or something.

IMO though, I don't think Jericho Quad needed all the service it got. Maybe it should've retained a midday round-trip (for those who leave early), have a run with a long layover do that round-trip.

They should add a stop on the other side of Jericho Tpk, after leaving the Quad,as well as one on the w/b side before entering the Quad to service people working at the Jericho Plaza office complex. There was even a petition started several years ago to get that, but nothing ever happened.

  8. No kidding. Their fleet is so bad. It's even worst the Triboro Coach or Green Lines during pre-MTA takeover days. Dirty in and out, weak engine, no heat, destination sign broken, back doors can't close, broken lights in and out, leaky roofs, wheelchair lifts inoperable, missing runs, longer waits, no communication between NICE management and the NICE bus drivers and NICE customers which they are not NICE, etc.

NICE buses transporting Nassau P.D. to cop's funeral Sat. I wonder if they'll make it without breaking down.

  9. Well, not saying anything isn't/wasn't gonna help you.

What bothers me is how people claim they didn't know that their Metrocard was empty or underfunded, since every time you dip it in the farebox, it shows the remaining balance. The problem is,most people don't bother to check that & then play dumb.

  10. Any news on the foothill buses.Would like to see more pictures on here

So far-3 buses on the property. They're being checked out, but unbelieveibly-came without heaters.

I can't see people paying the prices they do for those places being that close to a bus depot and LIRR tracks but they do... A "commuters dream!" lol

Hound, when they were building them did LIB have any problems with anything like nails in the bus tires?

You're free to go to Mitchel Field and take some pictures for us.   :)  If they were in service you'd see posts of people spotting them here.

    No-just sugar in the tanks.

It's now the Transdev Internet Defense Force!  Read a press release every once in awhile...  :D

Goolgle "MTA LONG ISLAND BUS"  and "Skeleton system" and tell me if that sounds better to you, I don't have the energy to repeat the every month or two.

Also, it is proven that NICE do a lot more per dollar than the MTA ever did.  So, if the system was properly funded facts, data, statistics, and common sense seem to suggest that Veolia/Transdev would be the better bet to run a [key term] PROPERLY FUNDED [/key term] system.

    Original!

Wow, you're actually right...  You see MTA is to Cadillac - overly expensive, outdated, only really admired by old timers, not eye catching to anyone under 50, the operating cost is outrageous, for no other benefit than the status.  You picked Yugo, because of the US flop because American's of you're time liked gas guzzling tanks, what you failed to see was this was a perfect analogy for Veolia, very popular in overseas bringing value and savings to people now bringing and streamline economic savings to America as FIAT.  Veolia was also very successful overseas bringing savings and economic value as it now does in America as Transdev.

I personally hate FIAT's, but great analogy!

    Veolia sucks.

It's the truth, I'm sorry I don't sit here listening to the mis truths when people bitch about how terrible NICE is and how much better it was/would be if the MTA were still around.  It's not true, it never was true, and it never will be true.  The truth is the riders are better off with NICE than they would be with LIB...  As long as people are here saying how much worse NICE is or how much better things would be with LIB I'll be here to remind them.  If you look at my post history you;ll see I never just randomly say these things, but I do say them when?  When people forget and start telling MTA fairy tales.  If you want to read a bunch of half truths (or most non truths) go right ahead but I can't stand it.

You pissed me off a little bit tonight by saying that!

    NICE sucks.

That's why I've been telling everyone for years they should merge the n19 & S20 with the N4! lol

Might as well just merge those with the S40 & S66. Then they'll be happy they will have a 1-seat ride from Jamaica to Riverhead.

  11. Who was better at running the Nassau routes? Did the MTA or Veolia do it better? As far I know buses are still breaking down too much. The only way 2-4 year old buses would be breaking down all the time is because there is simply not enough money to fund this system for proper maintance. It's crazy because Nassau County is one of the richest counties but can't chalk up some $$$ to fund their bus system. I don't know why people often say the (MTA) ran the system worst than Veolia when all the MTA wanted was more money to run the system which makese sense. The MTA already had the LIRR, the Metro North, NYCT, MTA Buses and the Bridges to focus on and Nassau was complaining. I honestly think in certain ways the MTA did run LIB better but buses broke down, break down even more now because the $$ is not being put in to run the system. What a shame and it's not like the county doesn't have the money.

    NICE sucks.

The Veolia Internet Defense Force would say the obvious.  Nothing ever ran on schedule with the (MTA) running around.  MTA B/O's are far more well-trained but I wouldn't want to imagine being on an Orion V on the N20 going up 107 under the speed limit.

Veolia is to Yugo as MTA is to Cadillac.

  12. I doubt they'll be painting or wrapping "borrowed" buses that will be around for a year or two...  They didn't paint or wrap any of the V's that have been in the NICE system longer than these foothill buses are planned to be. I wonder if they'll just stick the NICE decals on the foothill transit buses?  It's my opinion that they should've painted an orange & blue NICE stripe on the buses that that wouldn't be wrapped or painted.

Speaking of paint, since buses are from SoCal and never seen snow or road salt the paint looks great!  Just like if you see a car from Florida or something the paint will look brighter and newer than the same year car from NY.

Maybe they should just block off thil in Foothill. That would be a more appropriate name.

  13. I wonder how long before these buses will be in service?  How long does it take to reprogram the signs?  Is it like computer software they download with the routes?  I wonder if they will be leasing fareboxes from the (MTA) or do they have 25 on hand from scrapped buses?

They have to install fareboxes, radios & reprogram signs. They also have to block off Foothill identification-probably with decals. They will also have to get DOT inspected & registered.

  14. The fact is that you guys seriously don't actually understand immigration laws. They can be here illegally and still apply for citizenship legally. Nothing bad about that. It's allowed. Just like how your parents came. They weren't more deserving than others. Sometimes the financial means to apply for citizenship aren't available when they first arrive. There's nothing morally incorrect about what they're doing. As much as you guys dream about it, anarchy is not coming to America.

If you're worried about them getting all these services, why not make them citizens? Then they would have to pay for them.

    Right?

Hey-if the U.S. sent all the aliens back to where they came from,NICE buses would be practically empty.

  15. Last night, for Transportation Alternative's Eastern Queens/Nassau Pedistrian/Bicycle Meeting on Bell Blvd, I took late 18:22 n20 Great Neck to City Line, which were 5 minutes late, then walk quickly and did Stop & Shopping, then walk back to City Line where I met my best male driver friend 18:30 n21 Flushing which came after Orion V Green. This bus driver always calls me, "Governor." I got off at Bell Blvd for meeting.

After that meeting, I took 9:30 n20 Hicksville to Great Neck Station, which was only 6 minutes late. When I got there, only 1 person were waiting for bus. Quickly I went to restroom at pizza place, and he almost forgot I was using restroom and locked me out. After that, I went back to bus stop and there was line stretching for last 9:40 n21 Flushing strechting all the way to n25 bus stop.

When we got on bus (same driver who calls me Governor), 9:40 n20 Flushing from Roslyn was busy only 2 seats were open.

Next time you see the driver that calls you Governor, ask him if he knows the Hound.

  16. Weekday Schedule changes:

S1: Add 10:05 PM bus from Amityville to SUNY Farmingdale

S33: Add 9:10 PM bus from Amityville to Deer Park Avenue/ Grand Blvd

S40/S42: Add 10:30 PM bus from Babylon to Bay Shore. This trip will then turn into a S42 trip bypassing South Shore Mall at 9:45 PM, arriving Central Islip at 10:05 PM

S54: Add 8:15 PM, 9:20 PM trips to Bohemia (basically in service on it's current route instead of deadheading on the same route).

How does a 10:30 PM bus from Babylon get to Central Islip by 10:05PM?
