Oh HECK yeah!Yur gonna get tests weekly. These tests give yur TSS's an idea of who's slacking or picking up the information. If you fail these little tests(Quiz) they'll give you a second chance. After that you qualify for tutoring which you get paid OT for....Yur gonna get a midterm and a final.Yur gonna get a Yard practical exam,brake-pipe rupture practical, road practical.(all HANDS on)I'm telling you, once you pass schoolcar it's a BIG relief!
I thought the TA did not want T/Os trying to fix things like brake pipe ruptures and other things that took more then resetting a curcit breaker?

Thanks, go it in a trade with a friend for a red LED flagging lantern and a 3rd rail insulator.

New to me Car Equipment Department hard hat with the old (NYCT) logo.

I know I know, I have way too much stuff, but this should be the last one for a while. A new hard hat for my collection. This green one is from the station department, workers who fix platfrom edges, change signs, paint colums, and anything else that has to do with the up keep of station.

Got these on Ebay within the past month...
Zach
Damn, thats a nice hard hat Zach. I think thats the hard hat I almost bid on a few weeks ago. I'm glad to see it has a nice space in your collection.

My new hard hat, I got this thing off Ebay last week.
C.P.M. stands for Capitol Project Management.

Well I do already have a Neon Green type vest, so I guess I would just need the flashlight.
Ah, not neon green! You'll stick out like a sore thumb. You need a transit vest to complete the look.

Awsome hard hat, now all you need is a safety vest and a flashlight and you are ready to work. I just got a white one from Capital Program Managment but I'm in PA and can't post pics yet.

Back on topic:
At the top it says New York City Transit System which leads me to think it's from the 50's and now it's my key chain.

How are you supposed to get a tour of CIY without the Transit Museum sponsoring it?
It was through the ERA New York Div. but don't bother trying to go on a yard tour with them just to get a vest as they don't give them out any more. The only was to get one is to know someone, but even then you may still not get one since there have been some foamers who have used them for some not so legitimate activities.
Old style flagging lantern for point to point flagging of small groups or individuals on or about the roadbed.

Heh...you'll be heavily supervised, don't worry you won't get anything out of your comfort level and remember you can always ask questions too.
On a side note the center casting on the Broad st. truck has now been modified to take the Arnine so it can be a shop truck for the Arnine when we do the motor swap.
Has the power supply been wired up yet?
Also the yard tour were I got my vest was a long time ago and was not run through the museum.

This question seems stupid, but how do you get an MTA New York City Transit reflective vest without being an MTA employee?
Either you know someone or you get one on a tour. One of my vests came form a tour at CIY many years ago. They are items that do not leave the house or if they do, they are used for something like bike riding up state.

That is one nice sign, I almost got one like it on Ebay a few years ago.

That is an awesome number board, truly one of a kind or should I say 1 of 40 with 4 of them still being on the sole surviving car. It is such a shame the R11/34 was only a test fleet.

One new item, well a very old one but new to me.

Dear lord! I love that rollsign with the pink 7. Is that from an R17 and would you mind posting pics of all the routes on it? And your radio does it work without the holster, I know at BERA we have 2 of them in our R17.
P.S. If you ever want to sell that rollsign, I would love to put a bid on it.

Thanks, at the rate that thing grows I may not have any room left to sleep in my room.

Ok, I know I just put up pics of my R40 sign, but I was looking around my room today and I can't really remember what I have posted and what I have not. So I decided today that I would use my free time to post everything I could find that was just in my room.
*The following 4 items are for display only, They are part of my collection just like rollsigns or maps.
If anyone has any guestions about any of the items shown such as the maps, books, or rollsigns, please ask. As for my 1969 and 1939 Worlds Fair maps, one I get the time to scan them I will.

Nope, if I do decide to sell it, it would be when the R143s are only a memory. It's binded like a regular book, but the more pages you go through, the less of the page scans.

I would love to scan the R143 manual but, because the way it is binded when I have tried to scan it in the past I only get half the page. I may take it to a Staples one day and have them do it. The only trouble is that it has copyrights all over saying "do not duplicate".

MTA NYC Transit Train Operator FAQ
in Transit Employment
Posted
Ah how the times have changed. I read that back in the 50's and 60' and even before then M/M took pride in fixing their trains before and RIC would show up. Isn't the rule now that if you can't fix it with your vapor key or cab key, you can't fix it. Now what kind of problems on the road would RCC tell you to fix?
