  1. Other than what Lance said, the 142A's are Kawasaki, so that's why they are doing the conversions as well. The R142's are Bombardier, and will not be modified. Therefore, in all actuality, there is no reason they would be working on this contract. I see what you are saying. I didn't know that lot of 142A's was already CBTC ready though either. I'm still learning about Subways. We will see though!
  2. Now I understand. Those will likely be the ones going over to the as it would be much more cost effective.
  3. I see where you are coming from, but we've never done that before except for the R179 thread. That was re-opened, and that contract still hasn't even been awarded yet. The C40 and test bus threads were started almost a year ago, and those were left open. The converted R142A set is due to be delivered in 6 months. I see no need for it to close.
  4. Why would it be closed anytime before 2013? It's the R188 thread.......
  5. Yeah, for the time being they won't be going anywhere. The sets can be broken down though. I still don't understand what you are saying about mixing cars. The R142A's and R188's will essentially be the same car. An R188 car will be added to the each of the R142A sets. There will also be full 11 car sets of all R188's as well. They will all be CBTC compatible. That's the whole point of this procurement.
  6. What exactly do you mean? The 188's and 142's will be mixed, and I highly doubt they are going to stay on the line exclusively in the future.
  7. No, they didn't buy them. Bombardier is actually the world's largest rail equipment manufacturer, and the world's third largest civil aircraft manufacturer. They don't have any major financial issues at all, and recorded a net income of about $200 Million more than Alstom did this past year.
  8. I'm not sure if the converted R142A's will have strip maps or not. The R188's however will have FIND's.
  9. If it's true, I'm sure it was because it's only 340 cars. They are doing the 188's right now. MTA has been doing a lot of wheeling and dealing lately. It's probably more cost effective to have them doing both simultaneously. This also makes me wonder who will be awarded the contract for R46 retrofit. I could see this one going to Kawasaki, and the R46, and R211 going to Bombardier. But that's only my opinion.
  10. I'm hearing the order will go to Kawasaki! Negotiations were suspended, but have now resumed. The award is supposed to be coming in short order. I will try to find out more details, and confirm this weekend! Stay tuned!B)
  11. This girl is hot! Drake stands for Do Right And Kill Everything. That's exactly what she did! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xudKmdEBCwk
  12. Your guess is as good as mine. Well, you have a possible total of 420 new cars. 290 base, 50 option 1, and 80 option 2. If all orders are exercised, you have between 85-105 new train sets in all. It all depends on how the cars are arranged within each set. It is a very real possibility that part of this order could go to SAS. There are more than enough cars to replace the R32's and whatever else they will replace.
  13. MTA has planned to award an order for up to 38 additional M-8's. The award is expected by January 2012.
  14. As of right now, the R179 base order for 290 cars is still behind schedule, and is now expected by August of 2011. The optional order for 50 additional cars is expected to remain on schedule, and is currently set to be awarded by February 2012.
  15. The MTA is now expected to award Kawasaki the optional contract for 123 additional R188's by next month. Delivery of the converted R142A's is now expected by January 2012. Delivery of the standard (new) R188's is now expected by November 2012.
  16. Hey, I already told her! I won't be married till spring 2013, so I got a little time to play right?
  17. That's ONLY because I didn't get to Hollywood before Swiss got to her! Ugh!
  18. I think that's exactly what he saw. The LGA OG's aren't due to go over there just yet.
