  1. i got somethin ive been meaning to send you for a while but i dont remember your email address...PM me it?

  2. The process of putting together a replacement resistor grid for 1689 has begun...

    You're coming Sunday right?

  3. As I've said before the best way to get a vest unless you are an employee is to know someone. It's a highly sought after item by some who have devious intentions which is why we call them "the foamer's holy grail". MTA does not want unauthorized people to have them for exactly that reason. They're not "give aways" they're meant for the employees. If you were to get one it'd be a favor from someone you know, nothing more. The tour you won't need a vest because there will be plenty of people with vests leading you around, plus you won't be going anywhere you'd need a vest, like a yard lead or the roadbed. You will tour the shops, and likely see some of the equipment headed for the reef. Likewise when there's a tour train movements are kept to a minimum except what is absolutely necessary and the group will not be near that.
  4. Hasn't been wired yet AFAIK, I didn't take a full walk back there though so not 100% positive. Even if it gets wired though we still have to build a ventilation shaft and poke a vent in the wall to outside so that the MA gets cool, sawdust free air in the intake
  5. haha "just the motor"

-2 motors need to be swapped out with the ones we've rebuilt, then placed under the car on the existing truck. Shoe beams need to be reattached once this is done.

-Jacks and power supply for the jacks have to be set up for this to happen.

-Air brake parts need to be repaired/rebuilt

    -Resistor grid needs replacement

-600V fuse will probably need to be replaced as well but that's relatively minor.

-Car needs to be inspected after that to make sure nothing else went wrong.

    Then it'll run! :P

  6. Heh...you'll be heavily supervised, don't worry you won't get anything out of your comfort level and remember you can always ask questions too. On a side note the center casting on the Broad st. truck has now been modified to take the Arnine so it can be a shop truck for the Arnine when we do the motor swap.
  7. Come on up again in June and stick around for shop work
  8. I know. I am well aware of that trip and tour. Like I said before Vest ain't gonna happen unless you know someone, just stating facts. Just think if the tour of 207yd is part of the nostalgia ride, you're not going to be the only one going there!
  9. You are not going to get one at a fan trip. In fact if there is one place you are virtually assured NOT to get one it's a fan trip. The trips are a lot of fun, but along with the regular visitors, railfans, museum members, and curious people who just want to ride an old train for a day, they also bring out "the foam line" - so the reasons for this should be pretty obvious. Best way to get one is to know someone...
  10. haha that's funny...by the way i'll be going up on Saturday, let me know if you're interested but I will be operating during the day

  11. initials DR?

  12. Depends...you can suggest things you want to do, but in general there are always pressing needs and the guys who are there all the time like Ted or Jeff know what's going on and what needs to be done.

As for the R17, the paint on that car actually isn't so bad. I'm going to be floating the idea of some paint work on the interior of the Lo V at some point and the R9 will probably need it as well

  13. haha yeah you got that right, sounds like a good idea

  14. Yeah I'm still planning on taking the 7:07. They may need a hand setting up, and also I'd like to get there early as well.

  15. hmm that link didn't work...i'll try it again on fire fox when i get my computer fixed, this is my work computer...

meant to ask, think you can scan some of those work equipment sheets to me sometime? that stuff was pretty cool

  19. yeah me and ernie were the first pair to take it...i had 850 and he had 2001...he followed me down the line, i followed him back...road test was taking the car out the barn, a complete trip, and laying it back up

  21. Wow nice collection...love the old signs
  22. heh...I got work on Friday so just having a couple myself tops, but the food's good there too...

I guess I can sleep all day Sunday to make up the lost sleep heh but it's worth it to finally meet yous....

  23. Thursday would be OK if you're up to be a night owl...I get back from work around 10-10:30 these days...could probably make it downtown somewhere (you guys gotta check out Croxley) by 11 for sure, that'd give us a couple hours to chill...I take it that means you got Thurs/Fri RDO's this week?

  24. if i take the train it will be the 807 AM train...im still not sure if I might drive or not, I might need the extra hours of sleep on the train and don't know if I want to park it when I get back...I'll let you know by mid week
