    - I agree with you that there should be something directly serving MNRR Mt. Vernon East from Wakefield (the neighborhood) - there's demand for that also.... the 42 comes close, but it doesn't directly serve the RR station; always thought it should loop back to serve it.....

The only Bus route that will connect with Mount Vernon East RR (By like 2 blocks) is the 40/41LTD/43X, but these don't run down to the Bronx as much as the 42. Mainly Rush hour, with one or two w40 buses outside the rush.

TBH, im not bothered much grabbing the 42 at 241 or walking to Mt Vernon E. RR (Yes I've done it lots of times). But for other folks, the other option is just sitting on the 42 to New Rochelle Transportation Center and connect with train service, or just walk a few blocks. Never hurts. If the Bx41 was still running to Wakefield, they could of still had a one seat ride to Fordham Plaza for MNCR service. Which is why I think the Bx41 should get restored to 241. Lot more usage it had.

    - don't know what type of MC's ppl. coming off the BL-8 xferring to the Bx7 for the (1) are using....

(some coincidence though.... I took the full Bx10 & xfer'd to the BL-8 yesterday [someone on the bus that boarded @ 231st did look like VG8, but that guy was a midget... lol])

If there is some usage between the Bx7/the w8/(1), I think it would be nice to extend the w8 to at least to IRT 231st Street. Have it go down Kingsbridge Ave, East on 230th, up on Broadway and turn on 231st and begin. Follow the Bx7. Maybe hourly service?

Or your suggestion on extending an Express bus route on Riverdale Ave in Yonkers. BxM1, BxM2, BxM18, one of those routes can continue and end at Getty Square. Especially with NIS buses heading to/from the depot... Tho not sure if the Riverdalers / Spuyteners would favor having an extension of its routes to pickup those in Riverdale Ave in Yonkers. (Even tho they can still use the w8 to connect with an Exp).

  2. They start rolling in revenue service by late this year, early next year 2015 is when R62As must be off of the (7) to where ever MTA puts em to

I like how you "LIKE" certain post that tells the truth on "Waiting and Seeing", yet you continue to conclude as if your the MTA and not slowing down with all this.......... -_- not good man....

  3. I still have doubts about the (2)(5) being affected as you have trains interchanging on each other's lines and I can't imagine how much a pita it must be to change every single roll sign to display the correct route or if a train has to make a diversion. Now if those R62As have electronic signs, then that could make a big difference.

If the (6) were to stay all NTT, I could see them taking some of the trains off the (4) and the (4) getting the R62As. But that would get too far into the speculating.

I know, the (2) and (5) does swap, but remember, the Redbirds had those swap signs before. I wouldn't imagine the (MTA) install something similar to that. Of course the (2) and/or (5) getting it is still slim. To bad these roll signs aren't electronic, which would get changed at the operators cab and make it easy for the crews to change the route/destination.

  4. It makes no sense to put those R62As on either the (3) or (4) as those cars have LED lights with a red diamond meaning express and a green circle meaning local. And before someone gets upset with me and go all like "Oh, but why the hell does that matter? The route bullet says this train is a xyz*** regardless of the LED signs so riders couldn't give two cents about it, at least they know WHERE their train is going! It's not like their train is being rerouted or anything except for a general order!", well that's because riders need to know which train route bullet is express or local along lines that HAVE them. Plus, the (4) requires 35 trains so it will have to use R62As instead of R62s as there's only 325 R62s built (though 8 of them were scrapped). There wouldn't be enough R62s to fill that entire line which is why it also used a few Redbird trains in the past when it was running with R62s..And EVEN if the R62s were to return to the (4), it will just be a fixed fleet with those cars and the R62As while the (3) is 100% R62As.

Just because Corona's R62As have LED side lights, doesn't mean these must go to the (6). As I and a few others know, even IF the (6) gets it first, who knows if it will last long on that line. I've mentioned before, politicians and riders, may not be happy getting the old back.. Which means, even the (4) can get it, or even the (2) and/or (5) (ITS POSSIBLE, you never know, so no conclusions, even related to swap) can get it. We still don't know at this point where it will go. Hey, the (6) can even stay with its R142As, and (4) can get it... just yank the LEDs or leave them as is. We all know the (MTA) makes good, and a lot of times dumb decisions, we just gotta take it.

  5. People will always find a way to not do that...

Just so no one asks in the future, the R188's will replace nothing. I'm tired of hearing that question.

    I'm very aware of that.

Anyways, would anyone know if there will be spare R62As left once Westchester is full of the R62As?

  6. This kid still don't get it smh -_-..............

I guess some folks don't know about "WAITING and SEEING"... I swear most folks in this community is thirsty as f9ck for all this.. This is why I keep to myself when I'm out there at times....

  7. Actress Suing MTA After She Was Forced Out Of Her Home For Second Ave. Subway Construction

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A commercial actress said she was forced out of her apartment by the MTA and now wants them to pay her what they promised.

Sally Ardrey was in the Wisk commercials back in the 1970′s, where she said the famous phrase “ring around the collar” as she cleaned her husband’s shirt.

The 74-year-old grandmother has filed suit and said she wants the money promised to her by the MTA.

The New York Post reported this all began in 2009 when the MTA forced her out of her East 73rd Street rent-controlled apartment because of the Second Avenue subway construction project.

She said before moving into a non-rent controlled apartment on East 91st Street, the MTA promised a payment for $65,000 to help with the rent increases.

But the lawsuit filed by Ardrey said that payment never came.

She said she finds it hard to make ends meet every month.

The MTA said they are considering a settlement.

  8. As far as phase four, there was only one tunnel segment built. It's under the foot of the MannyB and it won't be used. It was never maintained and it's lined up for SAS scraping the walls at Grand. Since the updated plan has SAS under the current Grand st station, it won't be used.

And as GC said, SBS is not and will not be a factor as to whether or not subway lines get built.

    MannyB = Manhattan Bridge right?

I don't see how a BRt is going to be the main reason to not bother with an SAS extension to the Bronx. I mean if the SAS phase 1-3/4 gets built, I don't see them bringing back the old M15 limited and dumping the M15sbs.

Besides that, who knows if the rest of Phase 3 and the rest would occur for years from now. We still got Phase II to put on this list. Also the M15+SBS would give riders an alternative ride to the SAS, and the SAS won't interline the BRT fully, only on the East Harlem/Upper East Side/Yorkville. The rest below 72nd, won't matter at this point.

  9.

My plan would definitely cut out some stations while keeping others, especially since a rebuilt Bronx 3rd Avenue El would be to IND/BMT standards with (at least) 600' trains and platforms. My planned stops for a (T) in the Bronx would be like this:

    138th Street (transfer to (6) )

    149th Street (transfer to (2) / (5) )

    161st Street

    Claremont Parkway

    Tremont Avenue

    183rd Street

    Fordham Road

    Bedford Park Boulevard

    208th Street

Gun Hill Road (terminal, transfer to (2) / (5) ).

If this happens, where do you plan to have the portal at? Besides, not sure if this will work especially with residential south of Claremont Parkway, Plus St. Barnabas Hospital up in Belmont.

    This would be nice tho

  10. Those transfers already exist I trnsfered between bxm and bm lines several times.

But that only exist with the Unlimited Express Bus cards. Can you request transfer if you pay 5.50 Regular / 2.75 Dis/Sn?

I've been on the Express and thats denied. I think you should be allowed to get a transfer, even if it cost an extra buck.

  11.

    It isn't better at all.....

What it would lead to is angry riders having to disembark a bus for a 2nd bus going towards manhattan in the morning, and having to embark upon a 2nd bus going towards their residences w/i SI in the late afternoon or evening hours.....

The express bus network is meant to bring patrons residing in the outerboroughs to/from manhattan....

The local bus network (for the most part) is meant to transport patrons w/i its respective borough....

You'd be turning the express bus network into an intra-island local bus network basically..... buses would still have to make regular/current express bus stops w/i SI before it even reaches the physical hub/transfer point... For all that, you may as well have riders take local buses to the actual hub, instead of MCI's to the hub.....

Staten Island already has a huge hub & spoke system for its local buses (bus-to-ferry).....

No way do you turn the express bus network into a hub & spoke system (bus-to-bus)....

I would only allow Express bus transfers, for those in an outer borough who wants to go to another outer borough via Manhattan. While there is Subway to use, but another option would be nice, even if the transfer were to cost something.

I mean NJ Transit allows Express bus transfers, even tho its different since most folks are going to different counties in NJ.

  12. Bus random thought: Toenails are not made for clipping on the bus..... I didn't pay 5.50 one way this morning for that shit.

I shouldn't have to be subjected to see women grooming themselves in public.... even if the chick does end up lookin decent after the fact, ughk, what a huge turn off.... That's like walkin up to me naked & tryin to impress me with how good you look in a dress - the purpose has already been defeated.

    Thank you.

I've been sayin that for a minute, and I'm not even a Bronxite.....

Were you from the Bronx before tho? You do have a good knowledge ma man! Now if I only I had the same knowledge for Brooklyn like you! lol Only know little.

But yes, the Bx41 needs it back. But who knows now, they built a damn bus only Station next to the IRT Gun Hill Station, which caused a few bus stop changes around.

As for toenail clipping, it happens on the Local Subway and Bus, I'm still waiting to see it on the Railroad, which is a never seen! Same for the Express lol But that is fking disgusting.

I've been noticing LFSA's on the KB routes other than Bx9 more often. I was over in Fordham today and saw some LFSA action on the Bx2 and Bx41 Limited. Did KB have more LFSA's than before or are the LFSA's being let loose from Bx9 exclusivity?

There have been some swapping going on between KB, WF and GH. So yes you will be seeing some more KB LFSAs around. The Bx9 was exclusively LFSA, but now the Bx1, Bx2, Bx41, SOMETIMES the M100 sees the LFSAs. The Bx55, haven't seen any yet. All this is for next years BRT41.

  13.

where would you actually end it though? forget about the old M10 terminal; that (curb)side of MSG's gated off to a certain point & they got those concrete barricades all over the place..... if you're thinking about the M4/Q32 terminal, there's not much space to end another route there.....

The only place I can think of is where the M34 ends near the Javit Center. Enough space for it. But, I say the M104 is find where it is.

  14. Yep.

Now here's a short rant: a passenger asks the B/O if the Bx41 goes to Wakefield... all I have to say is SMH...

It did before, but now n0. I still think they need to extend that route back to where it previously ended. That route had more ridership up there, then the Bx39.

  15.

The M34 SBS is able to utilize the bus lanes more because there is a lot more traffic enforcement along 34th street.

True, but even with no traffic blocking the BRT lanes on the Bx12/M15 routes, most drivers won't use the BRT lanes.

For the M34, the only section I can think of where the lanes are not usually used is between 5th and Dyer Ave West bound, and 6th to 5th Ave Eastbound due to parked buses, trucks, police cars and cars coming out of the NJ495. But other then that, there is better enforcement along 34th St..

  16.

I do see a D60HF in front of it in the bus lane though

Yeah but even with that the SBS doesn't use the lanes. The M34/M34A uses it more then the Bx12/M15BRT routes.

The route that uses the lane more is the Bx9 heading North. Gone thru it many times. lol May as well make it +SBS over the 12.

Due to mechanical problems at the DeKalb Avenue Station:

Uptown d.png train service is running on the n.png line from the DeKalb Avenue Station to the 57th Street-7th Avenue Station.

Select Downtown d.png train service will terminate at the 2nd Avenue Station.

Please expect delays on the d.png and q.png train service at this time.

And its only Midnight............ How wonderful it is! SMH

  18. Yesterday I saw a 42 signed as (A) heading through Essex St. back towards ENY. It's like they can't want to take those cars back.

I saw one R42 in regular 207 <> Leffert Service yesterday during PM Peak service.

They have been sending trains to and from ENY for maintenance since the start of the summer. ENY is where R42s are maintained.

Also- I do not expect things to change back immediately after Labor day- It is usually still hot for much of September.

Yeah likely October. Last year the R32/R42/R46 swap didn't restore back until around late Sept / Oct.
