  1. Same thing, isn't it?

And what about you?  Surely, things are golden on the other side of the island.  You have a CDL as well, so surely you'd have something better to do than respond to literally every post about NICE here.  You don't have to know jack shit more about my life than whatever I've posted here, how about that?  Someone has an opinion different than yours!  Welcome to the real world.

The only opinion that matters is mine, I'm never wrong, & I always win! Welcome to my world!

  2. Blah blah blah my statements are valid don't throw a tantrum because some isn't wearing your shit colored glasses. Why the campaigning for the useless and overprice MTA? You wouldn't be posting this for free, because it's you're opinion, you wouldn't be volunteering your time kissing a useless state agenciys ass would you? That would make you a hypocrite!

Why do you care, I thought you finally passed your road test and were using a car.,.?

...and I post the same stuff? Have you looked at what you post?

Save your time posting a response, I really couldn't give a crapnwhat you have to say! Further more I don't want to waste my time communicating who simply can't understand that given a better funded system Transdev is better to run it over the MTA for the riders and the tax payers!

  3. Not talking in terms of level of service, but in terms of quality...

You are too much! What do you consider quality? The system is not a skeleton system, NICE has proven to do more per dollar than the (MTA) you already know the riders would be better off with NICE than the (MTA) given proper funding. LIB sucked anyway! LIB: Quality!?! BWHAHAHA BWHAHAHA BWAHAHAHA BWAHAHAHA Thats the funniest thing I've head all month!!!

    WEATHER/TRAFFIC ALERT FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 27TH, 2015

    January 27th,

    11:30am

Based upon road conditions and manpower availability, we hope to begin restoring some LIMITED bus service on fixed routes early afternoon today. Currently we have reinstated LIMITED LOCAL service on the n4, n6 and n40 routes Only routes that are determined to be passable will be serviced. Given the widespread school, government and business closures, NICE anticipates lower ridership than normal. While some service may be restored on a selective basis, customers should be prepared for the possibility of delays due to road conditions and traffic. NICE reminds passengers to take extra caution disembarking buses and at bus stops.

  5. Here is a link to one of the Ex Foothill Transit recently painted just like the rest of the Orion V's http://instagram.com/p/yA0UPHFMY1/?modal=true   Based on the plate # it should have been F1246.

I wonder what the body number will read considering they this was a 1600...  They should have just kept it 1246, that would have been easy for us to spot them.

I have been wondering about things like title and registration.  If they were waiting for one of these new "Nassau County" plates being issued, I'm sure they could've been issued a temp paper tag...  Now I wonder why Foothill would let it leave with a Cali plate, and why a Cali plate would be put back on it after being painted.  I can't image how or why a California registration a California registration would still be valid.  Unless these buses remain owned and titled to the system in Califormia, just "operated by Transdev/NICE, but that's a HUGE liability for Foothill!

  6. It would be a massive construction project, they'd have to lower the roadway under the bridges to make the clearance 14' (or at least 13' 5" Hey, if Obama wants to rebuild the transportation infrastructure why not that? I think the parkways being able to handle trucks/buses should be on the list, considering the parkways have bridges this low because they were built before trucks were so big!

If parkway bridges need replacing they should build bridges with a clearance of at least14 feet

  7. If that was an attack, that wasn't even subtle. If it wasn't? I don't know what the hell you were getting at.[\quote]

You need to calm down, why are you so worked up? Have you been hanging out with overly paranoid Rob Lowe?

Not everything is about you! Not everything is an attack on you! And when I "attack someone it usually isn't subtle. My opinion (and probably fact if I researched it) is that most professional drivers in this area are aware of low clearance on the parkways... How could they not be!?!

  8. 2 of the foothill buses have already been wrecked. Seems whoever was transporting them hit a low clearance underpass. They now have to be sent back.

Jeezus, you can't make this stuff up...  Will 2 more be sent?  Were these buses being towed from Cali and BOOM or were they already in NICE's possession?  The bus I saw being towed was being towed by a reputable local company, I can't imagine them hitting a low bridge.

Are there more low clearance underpasses in Suffolk?

no actually more are in Nassau.

The county really doesn't matter the problem is out of area drivers don't understand the NYC area "parkway system."  A lot of times it is some good old country boy who's never been to "the city" (and "the city"to these people is NJ, the borough's, Westchester, Nassau, & Suffolk).  First, the traffic and a**hole/dangerous drivers overwhelms them, they're not from the area and don't know where they're going...  They might be using GPS that is not used for trucks as it works everywhere else in the country...  Looking at directions, a map, or overly checking mirror, and it;s enough to miss a sign the BOOM!

I remember hearing the AM traffic lady saying truck got stuck under a bridge "trucks are NOT supposed to be there!  When will they learn and not hold up our commute!?!"  It really pissed me off because usually it's someone from out of the area who made a mistake not someone who thought "der dee der, I think I can make it anyway..."  I continually hear this idiot who is a newscaster stumble over her words, get tongue tied, who obviously makes mistakes at her job trash another profession who can probably do more in a 60 foot truck than she can in her car.

  9. What is the status of these buses involved in accidents, have they been returned to service?  Also, most if not all of these vehicles are impounded after the accident, once Nassau, the City, or the NYS DOT impounds the vehicle how long is it usually held?

    1614, (05/25/12) rear ended by a Kia...

1667, (10/13/12) strikes and kills women in Queens...

1756,(11/28/12) strikes pedestrian, house, kills boy...

1877, (05/07/13) involved in an accident on Roslyn Heights while making a left turn...

1867, (09/20/14) into a Papa Johns in Queens...

Also, I don't see 1808 (maybe they don't send it out to my neck of the woods?)  Is it still in service?

  10. So I am looking at the NICE fleet and they are purchasing Orion V CNG 2002 built. According to Wikipedia, the total of order is unknown, Ex-Foothill Transit and purchased from late 2014. I thought NICE are planning on retire the Orion V CNGs this year through 2016 and all of them to be replace by low floor CNG(whatever the bus is) sometime around 2015-2017.

First of all never believe Wikipedia for anything! I found the updated fleet there humorous because what it obviously was is someone who has no personal knowledge of what's going copying what they heard hear or on subchat trying to be the first to post it on Wikipedia to get some sort of lame internet credit for it. In fact the entire NICE article on Wikipedia looks to have been written by a one sided NICE haters.

For info on the "new" buses coming in, start scrolling through the high 340 through low 350 pages of this thread.

Sorry they're not photo shoot quality like some of but I was in a hurry (be thankful I stopped lol) good enough for the skeptics that won't believe it until they see it.

  11. Now that the Walmart in Sunrise Mall in Massapequa is closing ( www.newsday.com/business/walmart-to-close-massapequa-store-in-march-1.9774792 ) does anyone think ridership will drop significantly on any of the buses that go into Sunrise Mall (SCT included). Do you think lines that service other Walmarts will increase? In the past I've noticed a big increase on the n19 of people going to and Freeport to go shopping at Walmart.

  12. That or people needing destinations in eastern queens that are better served by n4.Jamaica is only a terminal for n4 however n4 is more frequent than the LIRR.

I could miss my train on the Babylon, wait 30 min fir the next (off peak) while 4 n4's passed and I'd still be in Jamaica before any of those n4's that passed me. The n4 being more frequent has to little do with anything unless someone was taking a short trip, then why wait and pay more fir the tip when you can take the bus to closer to where your destination than the rigid LIRR stops?!

Has anyone seen what they have done with the N20? They reduced morning westbound service dramatically, buses were always full and there is a big Manhattan commute at that time. It appears they removed all the shortened westbound Great Neck routes and now only have westbound routes originating in Hicksville and Glen Cove. Did they make a mistake on the schedule or is this actually what there doing it might be a big mistake.

those short turns carried air most of the time people simply piled onto n21s & N20 Roslyn/Hicksville. When the great neck runs ran I always saw them in queens carrying air with Roslyn or Hicksville trips minutes or sometimes seconds ahead or behind. Then again they only carried in the westbound direction eastbound was a joke.

Exactly, it's "you get what you pay for" in reveres, if buses run empty the money to run that line will float to help to help a crowded or growing line.

Everyone wants their line to have 15 minute headway's but until we live in a perfect world where the transit system is overly funded times are tough and the money is going to go where the buses are full.

  13. Why is the n4 experiencing double digit growth in ridership? Could it be that more people are choosing to take the n4 to Jamaica, instead of going all the way up to the Hempstead Turnpike to take the n6?

I think it's the economy people are broke and chose (maybe forced) is a better word onto the n4 instead of the LIRR. Sometimes you gotta chose between spending money or spending time...

  14. n57 Trips have been adjusted for more consistent frequencies. Many n57 trips are now tied in with n20s from Flushing in the a.m. and to Flushing in the p.m. This will allow many customers traveling from and to Queens the ability to stay on the bus and until their filnal destination in Great Neck/Flushing.[\u][\quote]

That's interesting! I wonder how passengers will know the n57 they are on and become a n20 and vice versa without having to get out and connect? Will it be announced? I wonder if drivers will follow through on this?

  15. If you need to be paid back for an "emergency" cab ride a "few times a year" you're probably on welfare and can't afford a loaf of bread.  Seriously, is it worth what you have to do to get the money back, I'm sure it's not easy as nothing with the government is!  Is it worth the $80 bucks or less you'll get back a year?

Hey!  Can I use this to take a cab back from Penn to LI if I'm drunk early in the morning and don't want to wait the hour and a half for a train!?!

  16. .Might as well just merge those with the S40 & S66. Then they'll be happy they will have a 1-seat ride from Jamaica to Riverhead.

That might be the smartest thing you've frosted here! lol

So far-3 buses on the property. They're being checked out, but unbelieveibly-came without heaters.

Obvious now that I think of it but I would've never thought if that. lol

I say put them in service as is on the line Pine Power rides, it'll balance him out with all the complaining that his bus is too hot. Seriously, some of the B/O's are out of control with the heat.

Any word on who when the new buses enter service.

I wonder if the Foothill Transit Orions ccame without heaters cause they originally ran in Cali and never gets cold out west.

We'll it does get cold out west but it doesn't really get cold in SoCal and I was thinking along the same lines as you, they don't really need the heat so they deliver them without the added cost of heat or that the heat was used so little in ten years it was rendered useless.

  17. You keep telling yourself that, maybe one day it'll come true.  Like I tell myself that this bus system isn't crap!

The (MTA) that ran the show when Hound started was not the (MTA) you so love to shit on and as long as you parrot the same crap, it'll keep and keep.

The skeleton system is real, it came from the the MTA the same MTA Hound worked for, the same MTA who had half their buses fail a simple safety check and pulled OOS. This is nit a debate this is fact, end of story!

While I'm at it at least NICE can fix a back door! Did MTA mechanics miss the day in school on how to fix a back door, I swear the back doors were always broken during LIB.

The (MTA) that ran the show when Hound started was not the (MTA) you so love to shit on and as long as you parrot the same crap, it'll keep and keep.

The Greyhound Hound started with was a different company than it was, the sane as LIB went down hill in 40 years. NICE has proven over & over again to be better than LIB, get over it!

  18. Which would double due to LACK of revenue upstream....nice try. They've lost a hell of a lot of customers and their ridership plummeted, you need the ridership to justify the changes. You don't like to think do ya....

Plus, you ALSO have to realize that people choose to live that far for a reason. Not everyone from Eastern Long Island is looking to get to Jamaica or Penn Station by bus. That's their fault that they have to make their transfers. No one told them to live that far in the first place. It's their choice, they gotta deal with it.

With your logic, you might as well merge every single route that runs into Queens with routes that are far East. It's impractical and costly and it makes absolutely no sense, especially since there's NO RIDERSHIP to justify anything.

That's why I've been telling everyone for years they should merge the n19 & S20 with the N4! lol

  19. If I had a dollar for every time this guy has mentioned "Skeleton system" and "Nassau" in the same post, I could replace every last Orion V registered to NICE.

It's the truth, I'm sorry I don't sit here listening to the mis truths when people bitch about how terrible NICE is and how much better it was/would be if the MTA were still around.  It's not true, it never was true, and it never will be true.  The truth is the riders are better off with NICE than they would be with LIB...  As long as people are here saying how much worse NICE is or how much better things would be with LIB I'll be here to remind them.  If you look at my post history you;ll see I never just randomly say these things, but I do say them when?  When people forget and start telling MTA fairy tales.  If you want to read a bunch of half truths (or most non truths) go right ahead but I can't stand it.

You pissed me off a little bit tonight by saying that!
