  1. This is going to be a master thread for the 6 TA exams scheduled to be held between March and August. You can apply for more than one exam in this series BUT you cannot apply for the same exam #, more than once.

The MTA is anticipating hiring candidates who have passed an exam provisionally, approximately 2 months after each exam period ends. Being hired provisionally means your employment is temporary for up to 9 months, or not for 2 months after the list is established. You must be re-hired as a permanent employee (from the list) in order to continue employment after the provisional status expires.

    Apply Here: www.mymta.info/exams

The Notice of Examination (NOE) for 2611, 2612, 2613, 2614, 3600 and 3601 can be found here.

    Exam 2611: March 1st - 31st, 2022, testing expected to begin April 18, 2022.

    Exam 2612: April 1st - 30th, 2022 ; testing expected May 16, 2022.

    Exam 2613: May 2nd - 31st, 2022 ; testing expected June 20, 2022.

    Exam 2614: June 1st - 30th, 2022 ;  testing expected July 18, 2022.

    Exam 3600: July 1st - 31st, 2022; testing expected August 15, 2022.

    Exam 3601: August 1st - 30th, 2022; testing expected September 19th, 2022.

Yes, I called 911 and reported it. Eventhough it was minor I was furious about it because the idiot drove illegally on a shoulder and hit me . Don’t a police always arrive at the scene when you file a police report tho? I mean…I always thought this was the protocol unless u settle it privately with the other party.

And no, they never said anything about my accident. It was listed on my application. I didn’t hide anything.

@Kennedy did you get payed during training? Did you start working rigth away? what about the benefits? Sorry if is too many questions.

You will be paid regularly. You are a full employee from day 1. You will get your first paycheck 18 days after. Benefits will start 90 days in.

  3. Realistically, it’s best to stay. It’s going to be a lot of years before you can see weekends, holidays or summer vacation. Then however long it takes for you to pick a job with set hours. Commuting is gonna suck since where you start is not always where you go home from. Then you have the pay cut for 5 years. The OT is there though.

If you can leave your DOE job and come back (in which you should within the year), try it out for the fun of it. Just keep in mind that training will take up most of the year, so you won’t have a lot of time being out on your own before you would have to make the decision to stay or not.

Thanks I’ll lose my picking seniority are will I lose the time 4 years I have in so far

Your time served with NYCERs will stay. Your picking seniority is gone. It will be like you're a brand new employee when you transfer to Queens.

Most people who transfer to TA Queens either lives in Queens or nearby, or they find working in the boro easier than working in Brooklyn, etc. When you transfer to Queens, it is a one way deal. You will go to whatever depot is available and then transfer into your Queens depot of choice. Once you get there, that is your work location for the rest of your driving career. Queens does not do system picks.

Queens also does a lot of things differently when it comes to depot operations. For example, their VR and XL is combined and you will be able to specify what work you want every day (or every week), in seniority order. Queens also allows you to use your PLD to bump anyone in the red book, regardless of where they are in quota. If they are last in quota, they are subject to bumping. Also being that all three depots have a smaller amount of operators, the quota can be different from what you're used to. (Outside of the fact that the union pretty much does the book) There are other things, I'm sure a Queens operator can chime in for you.

All three depots can have fuel lines after the PM rush hour. That can go either way depending on how you look at it. That's all I can think about right now.

As a rookie do get to choose what shift you want or does it go by seniority? Do the shifts rotate.

As everyone else mentioned, it depends what you fall into. The majority of the time you will be on the extra list. However, if there’s a permanent open run at the depot, you may be able to pick it and be assigned to it for the remainder of the pick.

The next bus operator pick starts in April, so if you come out of training before then, you’ll be able to pick your assignment.

I seriously think that this exam, they going to place you in Spring-Creek depo based on the description. Will that be the case? If so March exam will be a better option.

This is for full time at all the MTA Bus garages. If you voluntarily pick and wasn’t forced into Spring Creek, JFK or Far Rockaway depots, those are the three depots that you will be working out of. Vice versa for the other MTA Bus depots. You go into the remaining MTA Bus depots, you can only work out of those other depots.

So this leads me to ask is the 18 months violation date or conviction date, and would the current points on my license count or it’s once I become initially qualified?

It’s 18 months from conviction date and yes, your current points will be counted.

Not too sure if this is just a deadhead or a move to Brooklyn, but I saw a XDE40 on FDR Drive. Came in at around 23rd St and was headed towards exit 1

The M9s deadhead from end to end using the FDR. The north terminal is at 23rd and 1st while the south end is at Battery Park City.

Edit: For those already on the road what if you need to use the bathroom? Im assuming if you're in the middle of a run you're stuck but once you reach the last stop can go go quickly? Are there bathrooms in the station just for employees? Thanks!

There’s employee bathrooms yes and you just have to call the command center for a comfort, secure your train and go find a bathroom.

So I am on CPAP, should I just go ahead and get doctors note before I even get called for medical? Or do I have to wait and get them to tell me at medical?

I am on a cpap. From what ive seen on these forums you need a letter from your doctor and clinical notes showing that you use the machine. I havent been called yet but I plan on getting a note and clinical notes from my dr before I get called.

You need to have a note from your doctor that says you use the CPAP and that you can perform your duties safely.

This reminds me of one of the mysteries I never understood: how 9267 ended up with a bulkhead off an MBTA RTS, with dummy spots for taillights at the top corners. Sort of like 5057 with an ex-PBL engine cover as well...

Well that solves that life long childhood mystery

Them express dudes be parking at Quill

some do one trip, park the bus, swing for like 6 hours do one more trip and that’s their day.

    must be nice

It's not bad but it does take a long time to be able to pick those runs. Unless it has like TW off, then it's easier to get them, lol.

  13. If anyone has been called for the drug test, medical or is scheduled to start training, let me know. Trying to update the info blurb across all of these topics.

I need your list # range and exam #, what you did at pre-employment thus far and what date you're starting training.

    TIA
