  1. R10s pretty much stayed on the IND 8th Avenue for their entire careers with some exceptions. That's likely the reason why they were kept on that line since 207th Street knew those cars more then anyone. I bet he was, cause that is crazy. Having to get out and handle those doors at every stop. I wonder how they rode compared to everything else during that period.
  2. Man I feel bad for the C/Rs that had to deal with that, especially in snow and rain. It's amazing how long they kept the R10s after the IRT lines retired the R12s and R14s, which had the exterior door controls on the outside too. Of course those cars on the IRT were often mixed with other trains that had interior door controls, so they weren't at the C/R position. R10s in their last years were never mixed with other cars.
  3. I took many rides on R32s and man those were good rides, especially out to the Rockaways. I also had two rides on the R42s.
  4. I have pictures of them on the , which I will upload in time along with the R42s.
  5. Looks like I got lucky last year when I rode the R32s on the . Thanks for the information.
  6. There are two pairs saved just to throw that out there. 3350-3353. 3350-3351 are owned by the RPC, while 3352-3353 are owned by the transit museum. Both are Phase II R32s. Also I'm not 100% sure on this, but last I remember I don't think European systems preserve full length trainsets.
  7. Yeah, read some of the pages on this thread and you will see those "good" examples.
  8. No one thought the cars would still be in service beyond 2010. The R32s were on the in 2010 and now three years later they are on the . If they run on the it would be a first for them as the Z didn't exist 40 years ago.
  9. The foamers are getting really desperate.....
  10. You know I use to (and still think) trespassing onto private property to take photos or videos of trains was crazy enough, but for someone to come up and ask a person doing their job when a fleet of trains is running just takes the cake here. What's even worse is that the person refused to accept the fact the R32s are not running on the this year. You can't write this stuff anywhere guys.
  11. The only uses 32 R160s, which is four 8 car trainsets there. If they were to swap the R160s that would result in 144 R32s coming into ENY. The J/Z uses 112 R160s, so those extra R32s would be spares likely. I seriously doubt R32s would run on the , so they would likely use 32 spare R143s for that That's my best guess if this were to happen.
  12. Yep. The WH units were still running until June of 1987 I think. I know it was sometime in 1987. The GE R16s, which were very unreliable compared to the WH R16s were out of service by 1983. If the WH units were rebuilt they could of improved.
  13. You forgot the R16s, which never improved in terms of reliability, especially once the 1970s came in. They were fine when new in 1955 and into the 1960s. After those years they went downhill. The R44/46s replaced some of them. The R16s however were reactivated because of the unreliability of the R44/46s. Ironic isn't it?
  14. Good eyes Turbo. As for who owned that bus I have no idea.
  15. was going to have 600 foot trains, but the circumstances surrounding the R44s pretty much killed that plan all together. The original plan was for the R160s to replace all of the 60 foot cars. The R44s and R46s would rule the and until being replaced down the road.
  16. They said the same thing about the R10s and R16s back in the 1970s and look how long they stayed in service even when some of them were already retired only for them to be reactivated.
  17. Wow you are delusional. Shoot I thought some users around here were crazy, but you outdid all of them. Look go to the hospital and get your head checked, cause your not making sense at all bud. I also didn't understand a word you said in your past posts. By the way learn to stop disrespecting users that actually work for the MTA instead of posing as an imaginary MTA employee and preaching your lame ass fantasies around the forum. Same goes for a few other users around here.
  18. I hate to take this off topic, but shit are some users flunking English class or something? Man I've seen kids write better then that and I live in the south. Goodness gracious. Back on topic we really won't know who gets the R179s until they are being delivered. After all the MTA does change their minds every second right?
  19. The sky is black with little lights. That is all.
  20. Uh that was a misunderstanding I had with R32's post. I got the point.
