The mods have been doing a very good job of "taking out the trash" if you know what I mean around here. That is a tough one. Since 16 cars are out that reduces the amount of spares from 36 cars down to just 20. There are 340 R46s assigned to the of which 304 are used.

Two things. One the Unionport cars R26/28/29/36 are not only just work cars, but museum cars as well and have already been retired. Two when all the R188s arrive and are in service all of the R62As will be sent where ever it is they are being sent and are not being converted to work cars any time soon.

The has been using old equipment since 1970s (there are some exceptions to that where cars like R46s did stray on the C in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but for the most part since 1970s). The Arnines is what they had until the mid 1970s and mark1447 pretty much summed up what took the Arnines' place after they were retired from service.

I don't hate the R32s. As a matter of fact I rode them a whole lot more then any other subway car while I was in NYC and took more pics of them as well. The issues are some users around here constantly portray the R32s as God and think they are the greatest train to have ever run, which leads to disagreements among other users and arguments. With that said, I will end any discussions of R32s on this thread as it has nothing to do with the R188s.

Looking at the events that took place with the R179 order the R44s would of been 46 years old by 2017. R32s were suppose to retire in 2010 at age 45.
