  1. "Butthurt" and "retarded" have several things in common. They indicate that you concede an argument. They're both disgusting slurs (retarded" ableist, "butthurt" homophobic). And they just make the person look unintelligent.

^THANK YOU! The one thing that I've noticed on here and elsewhere as of late is that people get offended by shit they clearly don't understand and make up some kind of terminology to make it seem more offensive than it is. The term is mostly (and only) used when someone gets their feelings hurt over something so incredibly stupid like video games or a common thing on here, foamer flame wars.

To add on top of that, I can't understand how it strictly correlates to anything of the gay matter, unless of course, said persons don't like women, but that's another story. The term itself has never been used as a homophobic slur of any kind because to use it as one would make no sense at all. People need to stop being so bloody sensitive about dumb things like this, straight up.

@MHV, Cait: In a way, yes, because that slur objectifies people in such a sick and offensive manner since its inception in the 1990s. Words aren't just words. They dispel or enforce specific kinds of culture. Plus, "butthurt" carries a "Godwin's Law" effect: use it, and you automatically conceded your own opinion.

Don't merely take my word for it. Just like Persephone Magazine, Gawker explains it well, too: http://gawker.com/5965417/on-butthurt
