  1. lol... Funny thing is I remember the OLD 7000... It was an old RTS out of Flatbush that had been rehabbed extensively... Stayed in service for a little while and I guess they pulled it eventually.

The exact bus I took was 7048, and yeah I remember seeing a picture of 7000 when it was rehabbed. Looked good (even though I'm not big on RTS' so much, but the buses look way better when they're repainted).

I don't even care about that, I'm just registering what went down on the X5 yesterday ! Like I said, my luck is picking up this year.

  2. What a day !!! Started off with a 7000 on the S93 Limited heading to school, then after my 10:00 class ended (my 2:30 class was canceled !) I met up with my friend and rode a Prevost on the X5. A girl gets on, she sits next to me and we started talking about the bus network and how she also likes to travel places. My driver friend and I kept glancing at me in the mirror giving me looks and whatnot, but oh my goodness, she was cute as f*** ! Too bad she had a boyfriend and she's like 7-8 years older than me, but we exchanged Facebooks and I even made her laugh by showing her a meme that I saved on my phone. So yeah, my first time riding the X5 and it was a moment I will never forget. March 18th, 2013 will forever be a memorable day lol.

  3. Well I agree. There's no problem with acting youthful, because really life is to short to be uptight and shit, but what I'm referring is blatantly acting like a dumbass 24/7. But by all means, have fun and enjoy life.

Just pointining out real quick, I wasn't directing that statement to anyone in the thread, yourself included, though it may have seemed it. I actually was referring to someone in the shoutbox.

Oh don't worry, I never thought it was aimed at me at all. I agree with what you initially said. People ruin it for others and want to get defensive when it's thrown in their face.

(Btw, I -1'd you post my accident, sorry !!!)

  4. Wait isnt those showing that branch on Manor Road?

That route for the S54 and S57 running along Manor Road is the route for the school pieces from Susan Wagner High School in the afternoon. The buses start on the same side of the street of the school, and then make a right on Manor Road and continue along that street until it reaches Rockland Avenue, then resumes their regular route going to Eltingville (S54) or New Dorp (S57).

  5. Well, we all had that age when we were doing dumb shit, but after a while it gets old, and we, or at least most of us, grow out of it. Unfortunately, some never will and it hurts them later in life. Then these people duplicate and have children and pass on the message that it's okay for them to act the same way, and it's not. There's a difference betwen having fun and acting like a f***ing idiot. Sadly, people don't know the difference.

I went to a party last night and I didn't get home till almost 3 in the morning. I had a good time hanging out with friends, we acted silly and stuff dancing our asses to Spanish music like fools (and I can't dance for the life of me), but we kept ourselves under control, no fights started, and we all left in one piece.

That's how it should be in general, but people ruin it for others.

  6. Yeahh it shows it extending all the way to Throgs Neck Park...theres a few lines messed up like that...ex...S54 S57...

There used to be an issue with the S57 but they fixed it.

BusTime is still bugged, they show buses in India, 8000+ miles from here !

^There were more where that came from, not just electrical issues either.

The XDs were the most troublesome out of the BTEs in my opinion, with the electrical issues and buses breaking down in the middle of the street and whatnot. The Novas had the seating issue in the back that they fixed, put people still complain how they're cramped and stuff. The 7000s were the least troublesome buses out there, and it disappoints me a bit that Orion exited the bus industry at the wrong time.

  7. That is true. I think that Prevost has been out since the middle of the summer.

Then again, Yukon has the most express buses and a lot of straight runs runs on their express lines so it shouldn't be surprising that maintenance on the express fleet can be deferred sometimes. The X1 has over 90 straight runs (which include the X2/3/4/5/7/8/9) and those lines rack up a LOT of mileage on the buses.

  8. And its still at Zerega...never came back to CAS

Yup...I remember early January I was walking to the S53 at the stop by the depot...I passed by the garage and 2226 was sitting there with the font all f**ked up, like a bull or an elephant ran right into the bus !

I don't know the details of the accident this bus was involved in, however. I do remember sometime during the fall a CT caught fire while on the bridge approach of the Verrazano.

  9. Thanks. That is definitely true, guess age isn't consistent with people's maturity levels sometimes. I have my moments when I act like a little kid, but I have my moments that I can be serious. It all depends on the people I'm with and if I'm in the mood to be chill or be strict. I hate being strict all the time, I feel that life is too short to be serious all the time. There are people who are so miserable because they act uptight all the time and never know how to relax. I tend to be loosened up all the time, chill and relaxed. Again, it depends on the people I'm with, and if someone does or says something that can turn my mood around, I show it and my behavior changes. I'm not very good at hiding my emotions. If I'm pissed about something, I just tell people that it's nothing at all.

As for the relationship thing, I'll see what happens. Maybe 2013 will be my lucky year, who knows? There is this girl from my school that I've been running into from time to time, really nice girl...a year older than me, pretty articulated, good head on her shoulders...I'll keep you guys posted lol  ;)

  10. I personally think tYukon is okay with their locals compared to Castleton...are either depots on the level of maintenance like Eastchester or even MJQ? Not at all! They could certainly do better.

Honestly, if my bus (6300) was sent to Eastchester to run on the Bx23 and Q50, I wouldn't mind. At least I'd know it would be in good hands with the maintenance team there. I really hope the MTA saves it in some way, maybe as a training bus or something...a little wishful thinking never hurts lol

On another note, I rode 5349 on the B44 this morning. I had to chase after it for one stop because I didn't feel like waiting for the next bus behind it (it was a hybrid). I'm loving these Artics.

  11. @VG8 Thanks for your words. I will PM you for some thoughts.

@LRG & realizm - How frustrating is it when girls are like "ohh I want a nice guy, blah blah blah" and then you show up and be cool to them and for some reason they put you in the friend zone. Reminds me of a Willy Wonka meme I saw months back stating that a girl dumped her boyfriend because he treated her like crap and she didn't pay attention to the nice guys she friendzoned. Not all nice guys are boring, heck I consider myself a nice guy, I have a sense of humor and tend to be social sometimes.

I read somewhere that a teacher got fired for having an affair with her student on Staten Island. I don't find anything wrong with that as long as the student is over 18. I'm thinking at that age you should be considered an adult. In addition, if I were in that position I would keep that on the DL lol. In Texas there is some stupid law that got a teacher in jail for having sex with her student, mind you he was already legal. Should have gotten just fired and not sent to jail, that's messed up.

You have absolutely no idea how annoying that shit is!!! This is what I meant about the girl I was interested in a few months back, I wanted to prove to her I wouldn't be anything like her ex who rebounded with another girl. And she's hoping that things go right between her and her ex again. It's f***ing pathetic.

Funny thing is, the girl is my age as well we're both 21 but her birthday's 10 days before mine...I would expect that from a girl two or three years younger than me. Maybe I should stop going after girls like that and look for someone probably a year older, but the question is, could I handle a girl older than me?

  12. lol.... You can't be serious with that... Prior to Charleston opening, Castleton had no room to repair buses before AND their depot is older than Yukon's so I cut them a little slack for that reason only.  Now however, I'd say they're about the same and actually Yukon may be worse because they generally get newer express bus fleet compared to Castleton.  Mind you Castleton has most of Yukon's hand me down MCI's...

Hell the way I see it, the (MTA) should not be using Prevosts period.  I just don't think the materials that Prevost uses can stand the every day abuse that buses on Staten Island receive... I have to see how Ulmer Park is treating its Prevosts... Gonna take a trip to Bay Ridge eventually since I haven't been in a while.

Yukon had too many express buses...remember before Charleston opened they were storing their buses in the parking lot in the Eltingville Transit Center? The way I see it, Yukon does better with their local buses than Castleton due to the rough neighborhoods they run through. With the express buses, there's no difference.

I only rode the Prevosts at Ulmer Park twice, both times during fare-free week after Hurricane Sandy. I can't really say how they're doing over there, but as far as appearance, they're doing okay I suppose. I do have to agree that buses like Prevosts do need to be looked after every now and then just because of the way they are, but I still like them.

There's an LFS that's in regular service for New York University.

From what I've gathered, they're probably going to be gone by June/July. But maybe if another delay happens on the C40 order, or if there's more shortages, or if the (A) shuttle is still going on, then maybe they'll be there.

From what I heard, the (A) Shuttle is supposed to continue until Memorial Day weekend, and they'll do the (A)/© fleet swap again...I could be wrong though.

  13. I bet if 1305/06 were at S.I they would be beat to shit already..

I've been seeing 1305 a lot lately, mostly on the Q28. I spot it today NIS on Francis Lewis..  1306 I haven't seen much.

    I have a question:

Why do buses like 6134 say (MTA) bus instead of (MTA) New York City Bus? Shouldn't it be changed?

1305 and 1306 were originally in SI when they were 639 and 647 respectively. Buses 631-680 were assigned at Yukon on the local lines so I bet they've seen better days as they already have.

  14. Whoever said Yukon is better than Castleton is crazy, the 2200s have been running far better than the Prevosts. The amount of road calls on the Prevosts have been troubling..... 4254 is currently doing a trip on the s66 Sent from my SGH-T699 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah I said it, I personally think Yukon is better than Castleton. I recall a couple years ago Castleton had almost as much as 30 buses out of service at one time due to accidents, engine/transmission problems, fire damage, etc., Orion 5s, Orion Next Gens and MCIs.

  15. Yup, their Vs have always been junk. Sent from my SGH-T699 using Tapatalk 2

You would think that with the opening of Charleston and Meredith that things would have gotten better but sadly this is not the case. Makes me wonder how long their 2200/2300s are going to last. :(

1305 and 1306 are already beat to shit! LOL!

6134 was a mistake. Same goes for 6328 and a bunch of other Orion Vs.

Well considering those buses are 17 years old and still rolling around, something about those buses must have been worth keeping them for a little while longer.

  16. Lol...reminds me when I was on the X17 a year back and there was a guy talking LOUD AS HELL on the phone, so loud when the driver activates the speakeasy pedal on the floor and lets go of it, you could hear the guy over the PA system in the bus.

People on their phones don't bother me, but don't bring other passengers into the conversation by talking so loudly. That's why I tend to sit in the back of the buses (local and express) so I won't have to inconvenience the driver most of all and so I won't have to hear other people's mouths.

  17. I guess the people who work at Yonkers and Eastchester have a different mentality compared to other garages...they see something broken and they don't hesitate to fix it, compared to garages like LaGuardia where they'll just leave it till later and then it can be too late and the bus will have to be removed OOS for a long period of time.

  18. I feel your sentiments man. In my experience, most chicks want your time and money and they'll toss you out to the curb the second you can't provide for them.

Well on the real, a man has to make sure that he can bring bread to the table. I mean by having your life in order in an established career (say in healthcare, business management, accounting and finance, information technology (like yours truly), teaching, and definitely transportation (commercial truck driving, and of course transit worker). Many women are also career minded nowadays not all are gold diggers contrary to popular belief. Along with proper social skills and lifestyle habits, and by being yourself, your improved self, ever getting better as an attractive person to other women, you can seriously get any girl from wherever country in the world you want if you apply yourself. And eventually become a father and having a family which is where I might be heading eventually at this point in the game.......

You're on the right track by taking the first step, gaining independence.

It depends, if say down the line you start dating gorgeous and attractive professional women with careers who has heart you will not have to worry about those kind of women.

The funny thing is, this is my last semester in college before I graduate and I'm having somewhat better luck with girls, but I ask myself why so late though and where was this luck the first three years.

The effed up thing though is that there are girls who are really looking for a nice guy and then they pass them up because they're not "what they wanted"...I was in a situation like that this summer when this girl I met in March had a boyfriend at the time but it ended abruptly in May when the guy was talking to some other girl behind her back and dropped her. It wasn't until September when I just gave up asking her to hang out and stuff, or even something as simple as meeting up in between classes on campus because there'd always be an excuse. To this day I don't know if they were legitimate excuses or not but I don't even care to be frank cuz I don't even like her like that anymore. It was just a summer crush and I'm also glad nothing else materialized because she was a bit immature for me. If I see her on campus I won't be a moron and just walk past her like I didn't see her...I'll say hi and stuff but that's as far as it'll get. She's still stuck over her ex-boyfriend, wishing that they'd get back, it's so annoying.

There's more to the story (a middle part) but I'll leave that out for now...if anyone is interested in hearing it, by all means I'll share it.
