  1. People's ignorance never amazes me...even though the bus destination sign tells you where the bus is going, not to mention the bus stop signs for NYCT routes, people still ask what bus it is and where it's going to...not to mention people who always have issues putting the card in the farebox when there's a diagram on top of the farebox as well as the front side of the farebox (not to mention by the door of the bus before you get on). Smh.

  2. I don't even like sitting in the back seats of the RTS' anyway...the corner seats by the window are so damn cramped. I usually sit in the front on the RTS, but on the other buses I tend to sit in the back for some reason (unless there's a B/O I know then I'll stay in the front).

Still funny the seat was slashed though lololololololololololol

  3. Oh well, looks my non-Next Gen streak has come to an end...caough one my B/O friend was driving on the S44 from Victory/Richmond to the Mall and again on the S44 an hour earlier. At least I rode an Xcelsior on the S59 from CSI High School as well as an MCI deadheading to Manhattan.

  4. 2223 was on the X12 yesterday morning with no damn tracking!! It bypassed us on Victory & Manor since it was packed and we took the X12 behind him. People were pissed because he was quite late.

Yeah, I was waiting for the X10 at 46/5 and it didn't show up on the BusTime. My friend and I weren't too worried as we could have always took the X12 to Jewett and transfer to the S62, but then the X10 showed.

  5. Another hybrid-free day today. Xcelsior on the S93 limited this morning, then Xcelsior on the S59 (school tripper) in the mid-afternoon followed by an Orion 5 on the S53, and then out of nowhere, Orion 5 CNG on the B16. I'm taking the train to the city after work for a bit and then taking the train back home, so another day without any Next Gens.

  6. A Next Gen free day in Staten Island...rode an Orion 5 on the S93 Limited this morning followed by an Orion 5 on the S44 to the mall for work. After work I took the S59 (O5) to school and then after class I got a Nova LFS on the S93 Limited. Excellent

  7. The B/O reactions is one of the biggest cons of taking photos of buses, they either stare you down, or give you a WTF look, or stop and bother you/ask why you're taking pictures of them or the bus, they rarely if ever just ignore you and keep it moving like T/Os & Engineers do on the rails.

I remember everyone on a CNG I took a photo of in Flushing, bus was at a Red Light and the B/O and all the passengers on the right hand side of the bus stared at me until the light turned green, I doubt everyone on that bus has Aspergers, OCD or something but they act like they never seen anyone take a photo of a bus before.

I wonder how taking photos of Transit Vehicles has changed since Greg Mocker came on the scene? Haven't been fanning much in that part of the hobby.

@ MTV, reminds of a driver I came across back in the day when I took a photo of his bus on the B100 and dude stopped in the middle of the street and asked a whole bunch of questions, and requested that I don't take a photo of the front of the bus hes driving but only the back...

Also had that happen to me on a Jamaica Depot route, which sucks because the latter situation I don't remember what dude's face looks like.

I remember I got on an S79 at ETC and the B/O asked me "why didn't you ask me to smile?" I saw her before because she would always be relieved by my friend by Yukon last pick. At least some B/Os aren't as grumpy as we all think.

  8. guess I can put this in this section...

I wanna know who on here was with 3 acquaintances/friends on a NB 2 train around 5:30pm @ 42nd st yesterday going apeshit over a B46 SBS..... 2 other dudes & this 1 chick.... whoever that was, needed to calm the hell down... no need to show out like that in public....

I kept looking at the person like, wtf is he talkin about a B46 SBS (I thought dude maybe meant the 44 SBS, but he kept saying 46).... I eventually arrive home, and was like 2 seconds away from asking about a B46 SBS in the shoutbox.... but then I checked the bus section & saw ENY's thread..... Then I go, so THAT's what that kid on the train was talkin about.....

What did these three look like?

  9. I think Orion kept changing minor stuff with some orders. I personally prefer the tape because those bars are terrible. I don't like how it rolls rather than is just push in.

The Original Orion 7s have the tape, the same tape seen in the Orion 5s, and then the Orion Next Gens 3800-4244 have the bars and then 4245-4278 and 4330-4702 have the tape that's flush with the door, not the tape that protrude from the door by like a few millimeters.

I kinda like the bars because they do close quickly. The vapor doors seen in the buses with the tape take forever to close. And yeah, looking at the bus roster fleet on the TTMG website there are a lot of changes that were made while the buses were being delivered.

While I'm not to fond of the Orion 7s, I'll say that the Third Gens have won me over. Speaking of the Third Gens since they relate to the BT&E fleet, I don't think we'll be getting any more Xcelsiors. They look aesthetically pleasing but at the same time, they seem cheaply made sorry to say. Someone did say that the Xcelsiors have a different body frame that's different from the D40LFRs. Wish we would've gotten those instead.

  10. Lol @ the eBay pic.

Got some 35mm photos out the way today, mainly for a project I have for my photography class, but I also got some bus photos in too for my own collection. I developed the negatives, which came out great so hopefully the same goes for the photos when I develop them.

  11. Ugh, not my greatest day in the world of buses. Started off the day with three hybrids: one on the S93 Limited, then on the S61 and again on the S44. Afterwards, I lucked out with an Orion 5 on the S62, a Nova LFS on the S54 and then an Orion 5 on the S59.

Now I'm on an Orion Third Gen on the S93 Limited. Tonight I'll probably take the B43 home instead of the B44 cuz I don't feel like risking catching a hybrid instead of an RTS.

  12. Which to me is stupid.

It would be better for those days to completely suspend the (E) and have the (M) run in the (E)'s place via 8th Avenue and QB, extended to Parsons-Archer as I would have done for the current 8th Avenue shutdown (with the (M) running its normal weekday route in the current FastTrack other than being extended). That would eliminate the normal (M) shuttle for those nights and eliminate the need for a set-up at 2nd Avenue when the (M) can pick up the slack using its regular terminal at Metropolitan and the (E)'s Parsons-Archer terminal. The only thing it might cause is some small inconveniences in the overnight and at the start of AM rush hour if people at Chambers who normally take the (E) to/from there have to walk to the (A) platform for a train there and also maybe having to extend (A) local service during the 6th Avenue G.O. in Manhattan for say an extra 15-30 minutes in the morning to cover Spring Street before the (E) trains come from Jamaica Center and ©'s from their terminals.

    How about no....
