  1. When you start the hiring process they will give you a 40 page background booklet to fill out. It will have all the instructions you need. Follow them. As far as your driving record info yes you will have to list EVERYTHING. Even if you don't remember the date still list the infraction and result.
  2. Honestly there really isn't anything to study for. If it is anything like the last open competitive it is nothing more than basic reading comprehension and math. When the exam date approaches you"ll get the notice in the mail for the location and time to report for the test. If you pass expect a 3-8yr wait to get hired. I scored a 98 and waited 3yrs for NYCT to reach my list number. The wait is do to promotional being hired first for T/O so you have to wait.
  3. With the high number of applicants they will have taking the exam they will have PLENTY of people that will meet that 5yr full-time work requirement. As for them changing it to satisfy you is slim to none.
  4. I don't see them relaxing the requirements to get the job. Even since I've came out of schoolcar 3yrs ago they have actually raised the requirements in schoolcar.
  5. Yeah same here. I was able to get 5 days out of VC. The good part is no more having to call the crew office for rdo's and job assignments. Having a steady schedule is a lot better.
  6. I operated one on my last trip really late the other night. I left out of Brooklyn Bridge around 2312 (1112PM)
  7. Congrats. This 1st yr really flew by fast. I just can't wait until tommorrow when I sign in and see "probationary" taken off my name lol.
  8. I have to report for R188 qualification this afternoon.
  9. That's why I count my blessings everyday that I made it through schoolcar (and it was not easy at all, long nights and weekends of studying) and I'm doing well out on my own. One signal and station at a time.
  10. Reason most likely they want to get you guys out to the yards asap.
  11. That's why I always lean forward to check it after I get my indication, creep up slowly until the GF signal clears and it's smooth sailing after that. Last Friday I got to put-in the R62A on the 6 line from Westchester yard. The dispatcher asked if I had my tools for it. I was like of course I always have all my tools with me lol.
  12. I worked my first baseball special last night on the 7. Man that is the best job ever I've worked so far. Half a trip running express to Times Square and then light back to Corona yard.
  13. What I did was learn every defintion word for word excatly as stated in the signal guide schoolcar provided but for those of you starting school car what SubwayGuy is absolutly correct.
  14. You must list any traffic offenses you ever recieved in your life. It clearly asks for you to list every single one you've had. Leave anything out and they find out and your gone. The 21 page background booklet will come with a 21 page book with instructions for each question.
  15. You will be measured for uniforms around the 3rd day of orientation. The MTA pays for your uniforms. It consists of the train operaors uniforms (White shirt with grey strips and blue work/dress pants, winter coat/ hats, tie etc..)
  16. The other day was the longest day I've had so far. I fell to the board at White plains then picked up half a job at Pelham and finished at Weschester yard for a lay up. After almost a month being spoiled on the R142's I'm back on smee euipment today lol. I'm really liking the new badges Harry. Nice.......
  17. Because of that I was crawling all the way to 14th St. I thought I was never going to get to Flatbush. I almost got turned at 86th St.
  18. Looks like the crew office is keeping me on the as well. It's not a bad line. Just sucks that this evening I start at Utica and clear at New Lots. I have a long treck back home tonight.
  19. Lol I guess that's why my follower was 20 mins behind me when I pulled into Mosholu Parkway today. I was like that can't be right. I said to the T/O I was posting with something is plugging up the road behind us.
  20. Yeah I heard about that one. He was reaching for the route request box and didn't keep enough pressure on the master controller while reaching out the window and it dumped. I noticed today when leaving Grand Central 42nd St heading to 59th st on the express track there are quite a few new signals (I counted about 5-7 new signals) installed along the way that are not operational yet. I'm guessing those are going to be new timers to slow us down coming into 59th St northbound on the and . I'll be keeping an eye out for that bulletin.
  21. Lol same here. When I was asked this morning in the crew room if I was a student T/O I was like nope. I'm a probationary T/O as of yesterday
  22. Well I passed my road pratical today which I'm thankful for. The superintendent that evaluated use was very, very strict and straightforward on what he expected of my class.
  23. That's awesome. Wish you success. Schoolcar will go by fast. I still can't believe only 5 days of class left on my schedule. Damn the time flew by. Yeah I saw one of your classmates on the 4 yesterday morning. That sounds good. Next week I will be out of schoolcar.
  24. When I was at Flatbush the other night I was looking through Bid sheets. Man some of those jobs are sweeet. With S/S off too. I need to hurry up and gain some senority.
