  1. Broadway / Brighton: The line is just absolutely cramped, and it starts in Manhattan with the (Q). With the (Q) running all the way out to Astoria now, it takes forever for the damn train to come back to serve Broadway on the Express, causing the platforms to fill up. They used to just all get out at Church, but now its bringing people from stops way past that cramped up between 42 and Canal. We need the (Q) back to 57. Or running full time Express in Astoria, just something to get it back to Broadway faster.

I thought some about sending the (J) down there. There is a transfer to almost every line through that Nassau St borough, and this could be instrumental in keeping the strain off. Of course, the (Z) would have to run longer, and Express past Myrtle Av to balance the less (J) trains that we will be having up in that area. The (B), has to either be via the (D) or the (F) in Brooklyn, Express of course.

Culver: I know everyone hates those dreaded Express tracks, but they could be a lot more useful. I know the (G) isn't running as frequently as it could be, and people are complaining a bit about that. If the (F) ran Express from Church all the way to Bergen / Jay, assuming that a (G) Local would leave every time an (F) left, this problem would be a problem no more. I thought of the (E) coming down and ending at Church, but that will just never happen with the (G).

Grand CC / Jerome Av: The (4) and the (D) should be using those Express tracks. Easier fix with the (D), just run the (B) for longer. This would work mutually with both lines as it would take some strain off Brighton and Grand CC. The (4) would just never work, with the already cramped up Lexington Express, but if there were some way, that would be really useful.

Fulton / Rockaway: The Express tracks past Rockaway Blvd are actually perfect. I have taken the line out there a couple times, and noticed that people don't get out until Lefferts. Could be a bit useful, but the fact that the train would empty at an already crowded Rockaway Blvd would make this not work out at all.

Flushing: The (7)<7>, same thing. The Express cuts way too early. People just ride the train to get out at Main St or Shea Stadium, which is a VERY long ride from Times Square. If the service just changed from midday and headed out towards Shea Stadium, that would work out perfectly. I heard that they used to do this, but stopped because of CBTC.

Broadway / 7 Av: The (1) needs to have some sort of Express variant, call it the (9), from 96 St to 145 St. Everyone is just going to get off at 110, 116, or 168 St. But the amount of people that get off at 96 St from the 7 Av Express is insane. But they really need to do something about that, that is a waste of good trackage. I can't speak for the tracks above Dyckman though.

  2. Well another one bites the dust....

HD failure on the desktop... Screeching & click click clicking & everything.... Happened out of nowhere too (usually HD failure is gradual)....

Odd thing is that the HP splash screen shows when the PC is turned on, but after that, zilch.... Can't boot from it or anything.....

Still have the laptop here, but I try not to use it much when I'm home.... Looks like that's about to change.

Funny you are posting this because I pretty much had the same thing a few days ago with my MacBook. I thought it was just a problem with my hard drive wire but I guess it was a lot more because they had to wipe my hard drive. Hopefully it doesn't happen again, and thankfully I got a nice new top case with the repair.

  3. They are better off staying on the 1 since by the time you go up the stairs, then go on the elevator, walk down the passageway, and down the stairs and wait for the 1, they could have already been at 137 Street!

Yeah, the transfer is so long, especially since you have to go up the elevator. I didn't see many people transferring up there either.

  4. SAS is better off being 2-tracks to alleviate severely overcrowding on the (6) local. I don't see how express service on SAS would work. You have the (4)(5) doing all that work.

I don't see what the problem with Express on the SAS would be. You might want to revise that because all the work the (4)(5) are doing makes them both severely overcrowded, which is what we are trying to fix with the SAS. The (6) even though it is not as crowded as the (4)(5), still has its share. Express would work great to clear up a bit of the overcrowding on all three lines. Even a 3 track peak direction would get the job done.

  5. If they were to add express service on the SAS, they wouldn't necessarily need seperate express tracks. It is possible to run express services on a two-track line. There just needs to be a couple or so local stations build with bypass tracks so as to allow express trains to pass stopped local trains. Assuming the (T) would get CBTC, the timing and coordinating of expresses passing locals shouldn't really be an issue.

    (Q) is gonna have to get some CBTC sometime soon anyways that thing is crowded 24/7. I don't really see a two track express working. To me it just seems like a 4 track would work better. At minimum, I think there should atleast be a third track added to the SAS.

  6. UPDATE

Progress on the (Q) continues slowly and steadily. Credit to DJ Hammers and Mr Railfan. Look at the photorealism of Kings Hwy!

Here is another one at Queensboro Plaza featuring the new R38 BETA.

The photorealism continues as we look at this shot of the Manhattan Bridge.

Church Avenue right here. Tons more in this thread: http://forums.bvestation.com/index.php?topic=2208.120

JayJay85 has also announced the development of the (J)(Z). Not as photorealistic as the (Q), but its always good to start somewhere. Lines like the (A)(D)(F)(Q) have come off of him, so we expect nothing less than the best.

Another one showing us 111 St I believe.

I will just send us off with these two photos of the R38 BETA by DJ Hammers. I think we can say that it has surpassed the R46 as most photorealistic train in NYCTA OpenBVE.

  7. You're post was not creative. It was unrealistic and results of the said reroutes are costy and illogical. You said the R32s have "rot to the ground" (How is that possible?), forcibly cutting the said line entirely which means other lines have to be rerouted to serve its former stations. You are aware that the (C) is basically a shorten (A), right? As I said before, there wouldn't be enough extra spare cars for added service since the R32s are out of the road and you can't just yank some other cars from other lines to make up service for another. And if the (A) ran local entirely 24/7, travel time increases for many residents of Inwood, Washington Heights, East New York, Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Broad Channel and the Rockaway peninsula, all of which mostly head to and from the populated areas in the city during their daily commute. Meanwhile, the (C) is just the local counterpart and feeder line between 168th and Euclid, allowing the (A) to run express between these two said stations based on ridership levels/demands from the said outer residential areas it serves.

And about the "<Q>" thing...once again, the BMT Broadway Line is already problematic as it is. You already have three other lines running there. Why add a fourth line to said corridor? The unused tracks at Lexington/63rd are out of service due to ongoing work and some (N) and (Q) trains already get stored between 42nd and 57th Streets. There are already bottlenecks at Herald Square and the 60th Street tubes. Where else would the <Q> go other than tying up traffic further up/down the road in Midtown/Downtown Manhattan? The (B) is fine as it is.

Give the man a break you are making this sound like its real life!

What if the Rockaway Branch had never been acquired (or could not be repaired) and the current A schedule needed to be maintained?

Uhm terminate the (A) at Lefferts Blvd and Euclid Av, send a few down the (F) to Church Av if necessary.

  8. Green, I think what you made on your post on the BDC forums is an terrible idea, especially how harsh it was worded. I have run many websites and forums, and I know you might not really like the fact that many members are on your site, but think of how this is being worded off to the older members like me, who have been following this content since Magicland and JeffMorris, on here and Auran. How does this make some of the longest followers of your content feel?

If anything, more members that join, that brings more traffic. And even though not used often, there is a share button, which can spread the word for many potential Trainz NYCTA enthusiasts. And the sharing isn't even limited to a button, but through links, videos, countless forms of media these days. In my opinion, you are just driving people away from your site by making this post. It sounds like you are going to kick everyone off who does not post screenshots of Trainz. If you wanted to make this a site for developers only, then why did you create a forum?

Instead of putting members down, I would continue to encourage them joining. No offense here, but this is honestly not that big of an enterprise to have to be making such harsh posts about "gimme - pigs". And I am sure that downloads are restricted to members only. Just because a member does not post doesn't mean that a member isn't interested. And honestly here, what is going to stop them from creating another account. I use to post long ago, that was before my Trainz stopped working and I just simply didn't have the time to do much of it anymore. Listen, I'd really think about re-wording that post you made there, it comes off absolutely terrible. If this is the way that the site is going to be run you can check my account right off that list.

  9. Wow so after WPR this project is completely done! You have done a great job Green and I commend you and BStyles, and anyone else who has been working on this project very much.

SubwayEngineer you have also done a very good job at the reskins. I am not sure if this has been asked before, but are the R142 rollsigns animated?

  10. I think what I've proposed in my avatar would be the most visible. The white would contrast the color and be more visible, so you don't have a red (or other single color) blur (and a solid circle would make this worse).

It would be nice to see some color instead of that red on the electronic rollsign, but looking at the concept it seems that they are sticking right with the red.

  11. As for the N - Broadway Express, the R cannot handle the local stations on its own. Even more so with the northern R running to Whitehall St only. Sending the N express will overcrowd the R as well as the platforms at the express stations. All that for a negligible gain of maybe a couple of minutes saved is not worth it.

I hate to be the one saying this, especially since I am one of the biggest opposers to this, but bringing the (W) back might just be the only option to help the (R), or maybe even to back in the days helping the (Q).

  12. So apparently I heard the Lefferts Blvd bound (A) is going to be skipping 104 St and 111 St. Is it just a rumor or is it actually happening?

The (N) should be made express again (but at all times) and have  the (R) as the only local since there isn' t demand for two locals on Broadway.

I agree with this completely. (N) Express during rush hour just to help out the (Q)

  13. There would be less delays on the Broadway Line during rush hours if the (Q) goes back to and from 57th Street-7th Avenue (later extends to the Second Avenue Subway). The (N) can still the way it is but increased off-peak service on all three Broadway routes from a train every ten minutes to a train every six minutes (just like at rush hour) so that way Astoria and Broadway get enough service they need.

Heck who knows, maybe Sea Beach, Brighton and Fourth Avenue ridership will go up during the off-peak. The 60th Street tube would be better off with just only 2 lines (one for Astoria and the other for Queens Boulevard) anyway. And the only tracks the (R) shares with would just be the (M) on Queens Boulevard and (N) on Broadway.

I honestly don't know much about how the (4)(5)(6) are running up at 125 St, I only went there once, and how it will affect the (Q)(T) service, crowded trains, or not. The (2)(3) literally empty off at 96 St, the (1) does at about 137 St, but right now the (MTA) needs to look at the problem here. They don't have enough trains to be sending the (Q) all the way up to Astoria during rush hour. Either borrow some trains from the yard during rush hour, or send the (N) Express. But the Broadway Express and Brighton Local are struggling, and the (Q) just can't do it alone anymore.
