I would like to see off peak QM16 and QM17 service to be part of the plan.

In 2020 the overnight QM17 making all stops served quite well using all local buses. I used it a few times myself with the bus having a notably fully-seated crowd each time during all hours of the night. Understandably this was when subway service was closed to regular passengers at night entirely.

    4) (C) to Lefferts. Don’t split the (A) AND make shuttle buses required.

    (C) to Lefferts would create a bottleneck at Euclid inevitably delaying both services. Ozone Park riders are not willing to lose their express service. I wish those who propose a (C) extension to Lefferts would consider these two factors, especially the first. You should see the crowd that waits for the first Express of the morning letting the last Shuttle go.

I could not find any statement in the article that the proposed Far Rock - Rock Park Shuttle will be designated as (H), although this would make sense.

This brings me to the question, will a temporary service barn be installed in the Rockaway Area (such as how Fresh Pond Yard did for the (M) shuttle in 2017-2018) or will trains continue to be maintained by Pitkin having to make the trip up/down the flats while repairs are taking place similar to during Sandy?

Curious to know what equipment will be assigned out there considering the R-46 are to be pushed out by incoming R-211. Not sure if they're willing to keep NTTs down there for months at a time, but we'll see what happens knowing Transit can change their decisions at any time for whatever reason. I will point out that some R-42s were assigned to that (M) shuttle despite not having older equipment serve the line for nearly a decade.

  2. While I do not know the current status of 3807, I will say that its tracker stopped working in the middle of the run and I caught a ride on it the trip after heading into Manhattan on the Q60 as the 9:00PM out of Jamaica on Tuesday the 14th. If it indeed has been taken OOS or retired since then, I may have caught it on its second to last run ever.

  3. While there are a notable amount of R-211 in service there are still plenty of R-46 along the (A) even outside rush hour. Some R-46 will likely still run the extended weekend (S) beginning in a few weeks starting on Memorial Day.

I been noticing more R46’s on the (C) than usual. Is it because of the G.O causing them to go express between 145-Canal and as well the R211T’s being out of service for the time being. Are more R46’s running on the (C) and being sidelined from the (A) as a result of more R211A’s being on the (A). Just wondering.

There have been notably more R-46 running the (C) ever since full (M) service was restored a few weeks ago. ENY needed their 5-6 trainsets back.

  5. Despite the issues on SubChat there was a significant amount of historical photos, stories and personal accounts of experiences from decades past on that site that cannot be replaced and are a travesty to lose. I wish at least the old posts were archived and not lost. I will say as a member of this site since 2010 I have had a great experience here for the past 14 years (wow it's really been that long, still remember when I first joined) although there are some rules to follow (example this thread is technically supposed to be under a different sub forum not photos and videos, and simply refrain from spamming and making multiple posts). The moderation here keeps a good job at keeping the noise and distractions away after a fair warning. There are many new members starting here at a young age seeking to learn. Hoping to see more long-time members from SubChat arrive here and share valuable historical transit information and photos and their personal experiences.

  6. There must be an equal effort to ensure working fare machines at every location where fare enforcement takes place. Otherwise, those that cannot pay any fare because none of the fare machines are working properly are criminalized. I have witnessed this countless times where NYPD is posted up at a station entrance for fare enforcement only to stand around and let people in themselves when none of the fare machines are accepting cash.

Not everyone always has a bank card or balance readily available for use, and if putting a $5 bill on a Metrocard instead of going into overdraft is too difficult because there are no operable fare machines accepting cash it's inevitable people will have no choice but to wait until the fare gate opens.

Word on the street is , that the R211S are ready to go just v waiting for the MTA President to head over to the island

It is in Clifton Shop with Test Train signs still in the window and blue tape on the top corners as of this post.

Edit: I've also observed some stations have "R5" and "C5" markers (along with "R3 and C3") while others do not.

  8. 4150-4159 is currently burn-in testing heading to Far Rockaway at ENY as of 11:10PM. I've never witnessed burn-in testing occuring this late before.

A few seconds before this, 4170-4179 showed up going Local with blank signage on the South end of the train. It's been running like this all day.

Believe what you want, that set has been in service since the 27th from 3 pm.

To confirm once more this set is currently running heading Northbound at Euclid. Looking at it as I'm typing this.

Nice. I wasn't expecting this. That would be the 13th train in service (that's including the 4080s). But I've seen nothing with 4140-44 and 4160-64 tbh. I'm worrying that set might be a false report.

Can someone post photos to make sure 4140 and 4160 being in service isn't false?

    (North) 4160-4164 + 4140-4144 (South)

Spotted by myself yesterday several times to and from Far Rockaway.

Also witnessed 4150-4159 burn-in testing yesterday as well.

  11. (North) 4195-4199 + 4194-4190 (South) in service as of this morning. Spotted at Canal Street going Northbound at around 11:20AM.

Edit: Something is up with cell service underground, this took about 10 minutes to post. The above post somehow made it first.

The Rockaway Shuttle uses the same fleet as the (A) Line so it doesn’t matter what runs on it as long as the required service levels are met. The

The equipment assigned on the Rockaway (S) is primarily R-179, however R-46 sets can be used if needed. This entire previous weekend the shuttle consisted of two R-46 and one R-179 (happened to be the pilot R-179 set, 3010-3014) .

Are the worst performing R46s usually designated for the shuttle?

No. Most often the equipment running on the (S) is shared with what is laid up at Rockaway Park between Rush Hours.

  13. I have been hearing Coney's 5754-5755-5757-5756 and possibly another set has been retired and has been separated sitting in the back of Coney. This explains the one R-160 filling in for a Coney run throughout the day if true.

5754 was the first R-46 built under number 500.

Has anyone seen this set in service recently?
