  1. I thanked you only because I misguided my mouse cursor and meant to thank Green Eggs n' Pelham.

Jeffmorris stated that he had arthritis. I wouldn't have been able to make a subway station that good if my hands couldn't perform they way they do, so cut him some slack. You can't get quality and performance in the same package.

Duly noted, sir. I think that his el/subway stations pack is amazing for what it is, and his pillars, etc. I really don't have any issue with his material, just that the tracks and tunnels are simplistic. But, I utilize all of his stations, bridges and pillars on my routes, so his work is greatly appreciated. IMO, his station pack surpasses Magicland's in that there is a great deal of variation, both in configuration and lengths (they're split between 10-car lengths for Div A and Div :(. So, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful for Jeff's content. Without it, my route would be lame. So, thanks Jeff!

Also, I FINALLY got TS 2009 SP3 working after a million attempts on my new laptop, so I'll be utilizing Ish6's reskins of Jeff's items in my route. Luckily, I only constructed maybe 6 el stations before the release, so I won't have to replace much.

If and when work slows down, I *will* post pics guys. I apologize for the delay B)

  2. Hehehe :( It was meant to be a gross exaggeration. Good to see you here on the forums Jamal!

Anyway, in reality it was maybe 10 minutes...just of trying to straighten everything out and make it look pretty. The German U-Bahn stuff is easier to work with.

I will *try* to get pics up by the middle of the week. I've been swamped lately guys! But, the Astoria line is done to 39 Av, the QBL is done to 36 St (with (F) connections from Queensbridge), the (G) from Court Sq to Qns Plaza, and the (7)<7> is done to the switches west of Rawson-33rd.

  3. Not going to use the Russian stuff for anything besides long tunnels...I've found that using the objects/splines/tracks/tunnels is more of a PITA to get them right than using mcq's subway kit. Doing 23 St/Ely to 36 St, with the Queens Plaza interlocking shouldn't take one more than an hour. So, I reverted back to mcq. The East River tunnels and some interlockings on the 53 & 60 St tunnels are done in the Russian style...pics later!

  4. I will try to rework my elevated/subway stations/tunnels so that when it is released, you will have the utmost driving experience. I'm working on another spline segment as we speak and I got invisible tracks and attachment points down, and I will be taking requests for things you would like to see in the stations.

I'm assuming that these will not be TRS2006 compatible unless you release a CDP somewhere other than the DLS?

  5. @R32s, thanks for the offer on the rollsigns. I'm quite good at it though, thanks! :P

And...I started western Queens last night (E)(F)(G)(M)(N)(Q)(R)(7)<7>. I had to recalculate the distances between the East River tunnels based on a post from the forums about tunnel lengths...so it allowed me to use the Russian tunnel stuff that 2TrainMaster uploaded.

It totally blows mcq's stuff out of the water!:eek::eek:

So, for all of what I have completed aside from Queens, it will be the German U-Bahn tunnels and tracks. The rest of my layout for utilize the Russian stuff. HUGE THANKS again for those awesome uploads. I'll post pictures tonight once I finish the Queens/Queensboro Plaza complex and Astoria lines.

  6. I've also run into an issue. The UTun tracks have a floor that spans 2 1/2 tracks wide, which allowed a max of a 5 track tunnel without a gap in the floor. I'm trying to do a 6 track tunnel but can't find any object in the MUS pack that acts as the floor. I see that you some how managed to do it here. What object/spline did you use?

I used the AJS Subsurface Columns Concrete for the roofs. It's by paulzmay on the DLS. He has the following:

    AJS Subsurface Columns (they're greenish)

    AJS Subsurface Columns Red

AJS Subsurface Columns Concrete (used for the tunnels more than 4 tracks wide, otherwise I use the MUS Pfeiler)

For the floor, I just used the texture BallastDGrey, it's built-in since 2006. It looks 99% similar to the tunnel floors. You can hardly notice it.

Btw, are those river tunnels waterproof? Can I submerge them?

  7. Holy sh*t that is the most beautiful thing I've seen! hahaha :cool:

    Amazing BStyles!

    Btw, to answer a question:

I will not be including PATH in my layout. If BStyles would like to collaborate, we could use each other's 6 Av portions jointly.

It's really up to him. But, it will be strictly a subway layout.

  8. Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post a few pictures of my progress in downtown Brooklyn. I'll save the progress report map for significant expansions. Right now, as I'm typing this, the (2)(3)(4)(5) has been built to the connection with the (B)(Q) south of the Atlantic Av station. The Flatbush Av IRT/BMT tunnel has all six tracks built (Atlantic Av (B)(Q) built). Also, the (D)(N)(R) to Pacific St has been built as well.

The next project is finishing the Astoria El to Ditmars, and getting the (E)(G)(M)(R) complex done at Queens Plaza. (G) will only be built to 21 St-Van Alst. The 63 St (F) tubes will be built to south of the junction at 36 St/Northern Blvd.

    Here ya go....

This interlocking and signals were a PITA to do! ;)

    AtlanticDouble-Slips.jpg

No choice of routes on these double- and single- slips because the levers get in the way.

  9. From what I gather from that website, the R46 went from Canarsie to Atlantic, then used the connection between the Broadway and Canarsie lines to get to the (J)(Z) Broadway Junction tracks. Then, it went to Myrtle Av, reversed and went to Metropolitan via the (M). Is that right?

Btw, I do not have the R40 slant as that was a special release from Magicland that is no longer available.

  10. Hey I'm just curious about how you're able to take screenshots in Trainz. Whenever I do it just comes out with a completely black image when I go to paste it into paint. I want to post the Manhattan Bridge which I made out of tons of objects to make it look much more realistic than the bridge02 spline (I think that's the name).

Oh and if you get a chance I'd love to see how you did the whole Fulton Street area where all the lines cross over each other. :o

I'm not sure how to get good screenshots while in Surveyor mode (with the yellow spline point circles showing). All of my screenshots come when I am in Driver mode. Use the "free-roam view" option while in Driver to move around the map wherever you'd like and hit the print screen button to take a shot. You'll notice nothing happening, but it is taking a shot. Then, go into the Auran folder in the C: drive and look under Screenshots and all of your photos are there. I usually re-edit them to jpegs, re-name them and save them in a different folder for easier access. Then I delete the files from the Auran Screenshots folder. It keeps things simple.

    Hope that helps you!

As for Fulton St--I'll get pics to this thread ASAP. Right now TS2010 is having issues, even though I have everything I need. Currently only R142A's are working for me! :o

    -A

  11. I'm sorting through the maze that is DeKalb/Flatbush Avenue and the mammoth amount of interlockings and transfers in that area. I have DeKalb and the switches to 4 Av/Brighton completed. Next is the (:o(Q) and (2)(3)(4)(5) to Atlantic, and the (D)(N)(R) to Pacific Street. Once that's done, I'll post some pictures of Uptown and Queens....

...once TS2010 and my new laptop get along that is!

No promise on pictures today, but I'll do my best to get a few up.

  12. How would I be able to do that (L) fan trip if 75 footers aren't allowed on the Canarsie line past Broadway Junction? I'd be willing to do it in TS2010 (just got a new laptop = better graphics card), but I need to know what type of car. I will do an Eastern Division fantrip on the (L)(J)(M)(Z) with R160s once I get an opportunity to build that far. I should have Broadway-Brooklyn (J)(Z) done to Broadway Junction by the middle of the week.

Depending on if I can get the assets to show, (CM is giving me hell), I should start using TS2010 for my pictures and videos from now on.

    -A

P.S. Will upload MUS pack in a few hours. It won't include my custom signals or re-skinned AJS subsurface walls/columns because I need to get permission from the respective owners of the original assets to distribute them.

  13. I was a construction junkie this past weekend, and I've made it to Brooklyn, all tunnels and bridges except the (L). That'll get finished when the Queens-Queensboro Plaza complex is done, so I can factor in the (G)-(L) connections.

    Anyway...here ya go!

    -A

Question: should I follow the (A)(C) up to Broadway Jct, the Coney Island lines or the Brooklyn IRT? I'm deciding which to continue with first.

Side note: If you looked at the map closely, I've got CPW done to 110 St, the B'way IRT to 72 St, and the 63rd St, 60th St, 53rd St & 42nd St tunnels done into Queens, including Roosevelt Island, 23 St-Ely, and 21 St-Queensbridge. Uptown & Queens will get its own post once a significant portion is done.

  14. My custom stations are the following so far: (These are ones that cannot be found in any of Jeff Morris' station pack.

    Grand Central (S)

    Times Square (S)

    42 St-Port Authority (A)(C)(E)

    18 St (6)

    Worth St (6)

    Union Square (4)(5)(6)

    Astor Place (6)

    Bleecker St (6)

    Spring St (6)

    Essex St (J)(M)(Z)

    Chambers St (J)(Z)

    Chambers St (A)(C)

    World Trade Center (E)

    Bowling Green (4)(5)

For the BMT Nassau line stations: Bowery and Canal St, I just left the unused portions of the stations walled off. Now, what is meant by custom stations for TSQ and Rockefeller Center? They have standard configurations, it looks like to me.

  15. Hello all.

Sorry I've been away for a few weeks. internet company is still giving me issues, so I have to go to the local coffee shop for wifi. anyway, I have made significant progress on the route, and have finally started into downtown Brooklyn. The (A)(C) has been constructed to schermerhorn, with the transit museum included. The (G) connection to the (F) and Bergen St is built, the (R) is built to metrotech, and the (2)(3)(4)(5) have been built to borough hall and where they join up before hoyt st. since this is a mobile phone post, pictures will be included later tonight. guaranteed!

@Strain: good luck with your projects. you're looking good so far.

@Bstyles: have you had a chance to look at the signal pack I sent you a few weeks ago? PM me so we can discuss it more. I've made some more signals.

No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn folks....stay up for the pics B)

  16. Hello everyone! I've been really busy during the holiday season, and I've neglected my Trainz duties :P

Anyways, let me answer the questions that people have posted about my routes and pictures. If your question wasn't answered, please re-post it.

-The routes will not be available for Beta Testing until I get at least 75% done. Right now, it's about 15% done [all of Manhattan done from 59 St southbound, and the East River tubes (and lines into Queens)].

Have you ever thought of adding people these stations?

-The route will not have passenger enabled stations because that is a hell of a lot of work for 468 stations. Maybe certain stations like the Shuttles (Dyre included). I haven't made a final decision yet. Stay tuned.

how did you get those LCD Textures for the R160 by Jeff Morris

I got the templates from IRTBronxExpress. I opened the R160, and re-textured the destination sign. I made clones for each route that runs R160s since Jeff Morris does not have changeable rollsigns.

I am impressed by your work and I'm just curious are you working on several lines?

-Yes, I am working on multiple routes---pretty much the entire subway system. As far as sessions go...I'll have one or two trains at each line's terminus and pretty much you can drive the trains wherever you'd like.

-Because of a stay in the hospital and the holidays, I have not gotten very much work done. I started the 60th & 63rd St tunnels, and began the BMT Broadway-Jamaica line in Brooklyn. Only East River tunnels not done yet are Montague and Joralemon.

Reroutes are very cool. Any chance we could see a (J) or (Z) on 6 AV?

-Yes, you will see a (J) or (Z) via 6th Av. Maybe even a round trip back to Jamaica Center?

@Green Eggs n' Pelham do you think you could post pics of um 47-50th Street/Rockefeller Center,59th Street/Columbus Circle,Times Square, and Grand Central

-I will take some shots of those later on and upload them either today or in a few days' time.

That's it. I'll be taking requests for what routes/stations you'd like to see pictures of. Remember, I only have Manhattan done, from 59th St downwards. The only Brooklyn stations are the (F) York St, (A)(C) High St, and the (J)(M)(Z) Marcy Av & Hewes St.

    -A:cool:

  17. Thanks IRT. Once I get a handle on GMax (which like the SAS, should be in about the next fifty years), I hope to create some more signals and maybe an R143/160 like Magicland's R46's with the LCD lights. Or, if I'm smart and don't want to wait until 2050 for those projects, I could ask someone to help collaborate the project.

I currently have some stuff I drew up in Sketchup that I sent to BStyles for texturing and coding. They're gonna be 1- and 2-shot GT signals, a combo of both, and an ST signal.

Any GMaxers out there....? If so, let's collaborate on some more signals. PM me for info!

Also, thanks for the encouragement. Giving back to the RF community here is what I aim for every time I post pics. You'll never believe how many pics are on the cutting room floor because I want all my work to be Grade A for ya guys!

    -A

P.S. I will work uptown this weekend. It's straight lines and methodical, minus the (4)(5)(6) 125 Street, (A)(:P©(D) between 125th and 145th and the (3) Lenox Yard. Hopefully it'll be completed by the end of 2010!

  18. We continue our tour of progress made....
