Well, it IS almost three years behind the original schedule!

One person's opinion:  In hindsight the long delay actually served MTA well.  It gave time and ability to adjust the order configuration to best meet its operational needs in current (2017) time, not as of 2010.  Funny how that's what finally happened with the R-160's at the tail end of that order, too (i.e. Option II).  Let's see how the Transit world looks by the time an R-211 is rolled in.

So what it means is 3234-37 and 3070-73 will eventually become one 8-car Test Train.  The very last one.  Exact timing of these events is always in question.

Now we wait to see what shows up next and when.  Logically it would be "5-pack" 3020-24.

I thought 3230-3237 will be an 8 car test train since 3230-3233 arrived first

The last 12 R-160A-1's were moved 207 to East New York at end of service Wednesday evening, February 6.  Two moves:  8645-48 with 9967-70, then 8625-28 by itself.  No more R-160A-1 on (C).

R-46's on (C) are missing on weekdays for now, likely pending a better reliability from the R-179's, but are still present on weekends, albeit one or two.

One MK R-42 train from  Pitkin was returned to East New York for (J)(Z) service on February 6.  Another might get swapped back to Pitkin in exchange, where they would have their various minor ills addressed.

There has been no decesion made on the R42s I think as of now?

Honestly, they should've extended either the (J) or (W) to Bay Ridge this coming weekend. Beyond the total throughput issue, the (N) via (D) always leads to massive crowding at 59th St -- something aggravated by the (R)'s infrequency and unreliability. Extending those lines would mitigate that, while also making it easier for BMT/IRT passengers to get to the (relatively sane) IND at Jay St.

I agree. Running a line every 12 minutes may not seem to be bad from a first glance but given the delays and flagging  it can be very inconsistent waiting times in my opinion.

They could've just ran the (Q) in two sections

    1. Between Stillwell ave and prospect park as a shuttle

2.Between Stillwell ave and 96th st 2nd ave via the (D) line and (F) line to Lextington ave 63rd st then resume normal service via 2nd ave

Or would it be too much trains on 6th ave

They could of done this instead of suspending it in manhattan.

There is no need for a northern (Q) section since you have the (M) on SAS and the (W) along with the (N) and (R) is enough to cover Broadway on those weekends

when are the 179s coming to the a line, the a needs faster cars already

Any delivered subway car takes time to hit revenue service. You can’t just put the train in service right away off the flatbed truck. They have to do through testing and inspection before hitting revenue service. Give it time.
