    ---UPDATE---

    Sets in service:

    3058-3065

    3066-3069 & 3090-3093

    3086-3089 & 3094-3097

    3098-3101 & 3082-3085

    Sets delivered but still testing:

    3010-3019

    3050-3057

    3078-3081

    3110-3113

    Potential deliveries:

    3020-3029

    3102-3109

    3114-3117

I don't know the other 5-car numbers, besides 3010-3049, obviously. There are 24 5-car sets now instead of 8 originally, but I'm guessing the other 5-car sets will utilize the higher/greater numbers that were supposed to be used for the 4-car sets.

    When did 3110-3113 arrived?

  2. Lol. We shall see what happens in the future but I know for one thing sure is that the people who dont think the swaps will happen or think something else will happen will be out there fanning whatever moves or swaps happen in reality in the future regardless. Anyway carry on the discussion.

Then I suppose 3112-3113 will be coming tomorrow?  That would be weird considering it's usually been the highest numbers first.

I wouldn't be surprised if ultimately they decide to run R160A1s on the (G) for uniformity.  Less work for Coney Island to do.

It's long overdue, but if that's the case, what will happen with the (B) getting R32s?  Is the CI/Jamaica swap still happening?  Having mostly 60 foot cars on the (A) implies that the remaining R32s will go there.

Right now they want to make the (C) all R46s first and ENY all new techs when the R179s are coming in. Maybe after that’s complete the CI/Jamaica swap happens

They will be scrapped. They will not be needed anywhere once the Myrtle viaduct project is done. ENY will have enough R160s, R179s, and R143s and 207th street and Pitkin will have enough  R32s and R46s. Plus there are only 50 rusted tin cans in service, so retiring them will not take too long and it would be illogical to keep them if the TA wants to retire at least 50 R32s.

We need all the SMEEs for the Canarise shutdown especially when the (G) will need more trains and longer length. You are completely forgetting the (G).

More like they are too fat for the R32s, from my own experience, especially along Liberty Avenue, which is why the (A)(C) would be 100% 75 footers today if the R160s retired the remaining R32s and R42s as planned.

R68/68As are staying on the (B). No way the chubby chicks would run on the Broadway Lines again due to the roll-sign issues at Astoria, lack of 96th Street signs, and the fact they cannot handle the heavy loads along 2nd Avenue (same reason why the R46s will never run on the (E) again)

More like it is obvious the swap is NOT happening based on several factors:

    - Jamaica having less R160s than it did in 2011, having sent over 100 of them to Coney Island in the past 6 1/2 years for the (G)'s transfer and (W) restoration

    - CBTC on Queens Boulevard not being ready until at least 2024-2025, when there will be enough R211s in service to retire simply Jamaica's R46s,

    - NYCT not wanting the yards to maintain more than two different car types,

    - (N)(W) riders loving the R160s so much, they were bash the MTA if they see fat old junks in their place,

    - R46s not being allowed to make frequent, regular runs on Brighton due to persistent noise complaints from nearby residents). When I went to get a video of that one R46 morning (Q) train, I noticed it was considerably louder than the R68/68As and R160s and caused more vibrations. Heck, I can even hear it from my home every morning and I live about five blocks from the line.

The reason the TA plans to retrofit almost all R160s with CBTC (which has not even happened yet despite their plans to start in early 2015) is in case of the unfortunate event of an (N)(Q) or (W) train being rerouted to Queens Boulevard. Max Diamond posted a video last week of a (Q) going there due to an incident at 2nd Avenue and someone posted a video a few years of ago of an (N) going to Forest Hills due to an incident at Astoria. The same logic is being used as to why R32s will not go on the (B).

I agree the overweight R68/68As suck on the (B) to the point where the (Q) goes faster in Brooklyn, but they will be stuck where they are until their retirement.

Some people prefer the new trains regardless of length

Don’t try to make up false claims when there is evidence such as pictures and official documents to prove that your wrong. You are bullshitting yourself

According to a group, the train had door problems again yesterday. Plus the 30 Day test rule is they have to run 30 days straight without failing  or having issues holiday or not.

So do we have to reset the 30 day Test if there is a broken window on the R179 or when someone pulls the emergency brake on purpose? Those issues are very minor plus you have the Bombarbier crew on the train helping out the NYC Transit workers to decide what to do with the issues?

  7. From what I was told from someone who works for the TA, the R68A (R) appeared to fill in for a R46 layup that had an issue at Coney Island yard. There are cases in the past where the yards supply trains to other lines not assigned to the yard during the rush hours to fill in for layups if they have an issue. This has happened on the (F) line before where R160s and R68/As from Coney Island due to some of the layups at the Av X yard had an issue.

  8. Is it just me, or are there even more R68/R68A (N) and (W) trains than there were in November? Several websites say there are only 3 shared sets, but they seem more frequent now.

If that's the case, from what lines are these extra R68s coming from, and where are the other R160s (the ones that the 68s seemed to displace)?

Those extra R68/As are spares at Coney Island to fill in for R160s that need shop time I think.

  9. I would figure they'd use that side track between Bowery and Canal Street to lay up those particular trains.

Here's hoping that those trains don't get tagged up down there overnight...

Im hearing from reliable sources those 5  (M) trains end at Essex St on weekday nights lay up on the track that goes through the abandoned side of Canal and Bowery.

  10. So is the (4) running in two sections, besides the construction, just for internal crew purposes like with the Broadway Junction (M)? Since I don't really see the difference of those (4) from 125 St to Brooklyn Bridge just being extra (6) trains that could just turn at 3rd Ave - 138 St which from what I can tell is where they are being turned around anyways.

I think its to prevent people on Lexington Av to wait hours for a  (4) to come. Most people dont read the signs or listen to the announcements. If you run those  (4)s as  (6)s, I think there will still be a lot of people waiting for the   (4) to come which wont show up lol.

  11. That happens literally all the time. This would come in handy when Queens Blvd is automated in 20 years, but for now, the R160 CBTC (M) trains aren't a problem. There's only a problem when non-CBTC R160s go on the (L), because they can't.

I heard it was June 24 or 25.

I heard the reason why they try to keep CBTC R160s off the  (M) is that they dont want them laid up on Queens Blvd. I think this can be a problem if the  (L) needs trains and it can only use CBTC equipment.

  12. sorry bro but ur 100 percent wrong. when I was at East New York yard few months ago supervision always tried to keep the CBTC 160s off the M line so they cant be caught up laid up in queens

Your right actually. I know somebody at ENY now and he said they was sending CBTC 160s if they had to out on the M today because they cant get caught in queens so it doesnt matter.

I see they dont use Queens layups on the  (M) to 57 St G.O, why is that?

  13. Why would they add extra (W) s from Brooklyn during weekends? Especially since they shouldn't be operating that time anyway?

The Astoria G.O.? That seems interesting. I also heard some (W) s run on West End during the Sea Beach G.O.s too.

Unrelated, but apparently an (brownM) has appeared today due to some sort of incident that happened today. Ran on West End and everything.

Yep there are  (W)s that run on West End when the Astoria and  (N) via West End occurs. There is also an  (R) putin that runs light on West End during the  (N) via West End G.O

  14. That actually does make sense.  I was thinking of the (B) running in place of the (Q) as a special late-night train to 96th/2nd to avoid confusion to some in Brooklyn and parts of lower Manhattan where the (Q) does not normally run.

Why would you run the  (B) between 96 St/2 Av and Coney Island when its a part time route? It would create a lot of confusion on 2 Av and plus the  (Q) is still operating between 96 St/2 Av and Coney Island but via 6 Av. It makes more sense to reroute the  (Q) between Lexington Av-63 St and Dekalb Av than run the  (B)
