mark1447 Posted June 14, 2009 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2009 Do you think its fair as a NYCT Museum member to pay for special events higher cost for an event, while children pay less then a member? I dont find fair as much. Why do we pay higher then the Children, but less then the Adult. It should really be Members > Children > Adult, not Children > Members > Adults. I mean for example the Nostalgia ride is like $30 for Adult, $25 for Members and $10 for children. We should be paying $10 instead of the children.. Doesn't seem fair as much right? Maybe for some it is fair, but i dont find it fair at all
Y2Julio Posted June 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2009 They pay less because they are kids! You're still getting a discount.
Qns Blvd Dom Posted June 14, 2009 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2009 I honestly think the discount for members should be a bit lower like $10 off the regular adult admission price (Or 1/2 price). $5 off is ok however it should be a little lower. Y2Julio Posted June 14, 2009 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2009 Remember, the money they earn goes on helping maintain these trains. So the less money they make, the less money they have to work on future projects.
mark1447 Posted June 14, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted June 14, 2009 They pay less because they are kids! You're still getting a discount. that doesnt conclude anything`much. Notice there even members who at the Age range of 10 to 17 and they have to pay the members price if they choice to mark as member instead of the $10 or less price.. So most likly there is no poing for any1 under 17 to become a member, unless they want free admission to the NYCTM

So most likly there is no poing for any1 under 17 to become a member, unless they want free admission to the NYCTM Or, access to member's only tours and the right to book early for things that will sell out. Membership has its perks. only ONE of those perks is the discounts. There's no reason to complain about the prices because they are fair and used to 1) fund the museum 2) maintain the museum fleet. So if you like the museum and you like having operable museum trains, then pay. If not, no one's holding a gun to your head. Children get a larger discount because they are children, and they cannot go without an adult going with them, so they are accompanying someone who is often a member. Not to mention everything has to done with the next generation in mind because without a new generation of people having an interest in transit, this stuff will someday all go away and just be a figment of everyone's imagination, so giving kids a discount is investing in future generations having an interest in this stuff and preserving it for generations beyond even them. Pelham Bay Dave Posted June 16, 2009 Share #7 Posted June 16, 2009 I think its fair the kids should get a discount and besides they come with an adult. If you raise the price I am sure some people would not go on some of these trips because it be too much to pay for both of them.

It's the New York Transit Museum not New York City Transit Museum. Get it right next time. B)
