7 Train Elmhurst Posted August 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2009 This is 7 Train Elmhurst: Been a railfan for several years and used to live near the 90th Street Station of the Flushing Line. I Know the 7 line track by heart. Remember the days when the R33WF and R36WF cars ran on the line. I now live on Long Island but still come back to the old neighborhood when heading to NYC or to Citi Field to catch a Mets game. My thrill as a kid was when a neighbor who was a motorman for the IND let me ride in the motorman's cab. If I recalled correctly it was an R16 "EE" train on the Queens Line just past the 71st Continental Ave. station I used take subway joyrides all the time. I own a nice collection of books on the New York subway as well as other systems. In traveling I've had the opportunity to travel on many systems in the US, Canada and Europe. Funny thing, while they're quite nice, none compare to the vast extensive one right here at home.

D.J. Posted August 12, 2009 Share #6 Posted August 12, 2009 welcome to the forum, and thanks for making me feel worst about my local TAs: SEPTA and NJT as they have no real subway system, just 3 random routes: SEPTA: MFL. BSL, 100 Norristown High Speed Line NJT: RiverLine, Newark City Subway, Hudson Bergen Light Rail while NYC has like 4843944739493479 different subway lines
