metsfan Posted September 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2009 So, these streetcar type trolly subway cars seem to have pantographs. So, how much will it take to restore them, & when will we see them on HBLR? - A
EE Broadway Local Posted September 25, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 25, 2009 Are you speaking about the current LRV's or the former PCC's?
R44 5278 Posted September 25, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 25, 2009 The PCCs are retired for good, but NJT decided to store them at a HBLR facility instead of scrapping them. I'm guessing that NJT still has yet to sell them to various museums.
metsfan Posted September 25, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted September 25, 2009 The PCC cars. Several have been rebuilt/refurbished by Brookville & put into service in other parts of the country... Would be keen to see them on the HBLR! - A

If so, then the PCCs might have their original taps from running on the Newark Subway rendering them incompatible with the HBLR.
metsfan Posted September 26, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted September 26, 2009 NCS runs the same exact voltage as HBLR, same LRV's and everything, just a different system with tracks that don't connect. - A
D.J. Posted September 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 28, 2009 The PCC cars. They are going to be put on some loop thing in Bayonne at some point, though I'm sure with all the money being put into that pit they are digging to NY there are no funds for this. metsfan Posted September 29, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted September 29, 2009 Brookville is still around, they've been around for a long, long time. Maybe you're thinking of colorado railcar? As far as loop, that'd be nice! - A
