I rode on one only one time before October 2009. Well I did go on a train from Juarez to Mexico city and back a couple of times but I'm not sure if that counts. In October, I made my first real trip on a train. A friend was heading out to California from Providence. The person he was going with died the week before the trip, so I went in his place. We went from Providence to Rochester then to Chicago. From there we went south to Texas. From Texas is was out to Cali. We had a sleeper car with our own room. It was GREAT!!! I couldn't believe how relaxing it was and how relaxed everyone on the train was. I loved the fact that when you got to a stop you could get off and stretch your legs. If there was time we we had a walk and saw the sites. When we got back, no metal detectors or TSA agents with bad attitudes. It was just the happy face of the attendant welcoming us back. We didn't even have to show a ticket! Four days and five nights on the train. I couldn't believe how fast it went by. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
