Good day, all. I'm new to New York from Detroit. Always loved the subway. I've always believed that heavy rail (not light) that doesn't share a right of way with street traffic is the biggest key to a vibrant metropolis. I don't think it's a coincidence that all the world's greatest cities also have the world's greatest subway systems, and that arguably the greatest (NYC) has the only 24-hour system. I've often discussed with Detroiters about reviving their city with a real subway system, and they always ask me what's the point, saying there is nowhere to go to. I always rebut that places to go come (and in bulk) after subway accessibility, not the other way around.
