R10 2952 Posted September 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2010 Recently, while taking a train that was going through New Haven in Connecticut, I happened to notice a line of 7 to 10 F9-type diesels standing in a line on a track next to the New Haven train maintenance facility, just outside of the station that is on the line from New York to Boston. These diesel locomotives are all painted in the old-style 'NH' black-red-white paint scheme, are coupled together, and seem to date back to the 1950s or 1960s. My question is: Are they F9s or something? What is their role on the New Haven line, if any?
Joe Posted September 9, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2010 Their role on the New Haven line is to take up space.

mark1447 Posted September 9, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2010 Yes its the FL9 not F9 and they during till 2009 ran as shuttle service on the branches which were then replaced by the BL20s. Before then they ran on MNCRR service to GCT. They got replaced by the Genesis P32s. in the 90s. I think the F10s also ran with them too. Correct me if im wrong.. Im glade ConnDot owns part of the NH, at least they are nostalgic compared to . If owned all of the MNCRR, then it would MTA logos for there fleets, no NH insight!
