Pablo M 201 Posted December 1, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 1, 2010 Rail service is suspended between Newark and New York in both directions due to overhead wire damage near Portal Bridge. PATH is cross honoring NJT tickets at Newark, Hoboken and 33rd Street. Update as of 12:45PM *Midtown Direct trains on the Morris & Essex and Montclair-Boonton Lines operate to and from Hoboken Terminal. *Northeast Corridor trains will operate every hour between Newark Penn Station and Trenton. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here we go again.... Glad this is not the rush and that I'm not taking NJT trains today....

Pablo M 201 Posted December 1, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted December 1, 2010 Well look at the bright side itleast there is some svc cuz you know what A bus ride in this weather is not all to cool but on A dry day NJT 7000's baby vrooom They advise folks to take a bus if possible. In and out of New York for the trains are still shut down. So peeps gotta hop that PATH train which isn't a bad alternative, just takes a little longer to midtown and makes a few more stops. Amtrak7 Posted December 1, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 1, 2010 And there are wire problems east of Penn (Amtrak says Bronx, some say Hunterspoint), meaning NYP is basically shut down except for LIRR. SEPTA Keystone Corridor service was also suspended for a while due to another wire down, but limited service has resumed east of Malvern.
Pablo M 201 Posted December 1, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted December 1, 2010 Well good news is that service is slowly coming back in and out of New York just in time for the rush. How they pull the bunny from the hat 85% of the time is beyond me.
Amtrak7 Posted December 1, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 1, 2010 60 minute delays in and out of NYP west, Amtrak still suspended. MidTOWN DIRECT (yep that's how it's spelled) running to/from HOB for rest of day. SEPTA: Full service restored east of Malvern, no word on Thorndale service yet. Apparently Amtrak service is restored with just residual delays as a factor. Also something to note, all Midtown Direct trains will operate local. They're possibly combining trains wherever necessary.
