IRT Bronx Express Posted December 17, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2010 The MTA announced a 90-day pilot program for Access-A-Ride customers who will use a pre-paid Chase Visa Card to pay for taxi service on regularly scheduled, pre-planned trips. Four hundred Access-A-Ride registrants have volunteered for the pilot program that includes pick-up and drop-off locations in Manhattan below 96th Street. With the pre-paid card, these customers will be able to hail any yellow cab to take them to and from their destination. The volunteers are all ambulatory customers on Access-A-Ride's subscription service, which means they are non-wheelchair users who travel to and from the same place on a regular basis. R32 3348 Posted December 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 18, 2010 According to the Second Ave. Sagas article, this is supposed to lower the operating cost of Access-A-Ride for non-wheelchair using passengers (the majority of Access-A-Ride users) from $49 to $15.
