R36 Preservation Posted September 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2011 The last white IRT cars would be on the in late 1988, as unrebuilt R33s. During 1987-88, the 5 was mixed between white and red cars. The red R17s ran on the 5 until 2/29/88, mixed with red R33s (an interior shot can be briefly seen in the credits of Oliver Stone's Wall Street). On the , white cars lasted through 1986 (they appear in the "Commuting/Community" photo montage at Woodside, taken in 1986). Some clean, white cars might have lasted on the 7 as late as 1987, from several photographs. The first "Gunn red fox" cars began appearing on the Flushing Line in autumn 1984.
