Vistausss Posted September 20, 2013 Share #26 Posted September 20, 2013 Nice map! A and an express 8 train with 4 tracks going to LGA airport might be possible. Or there could be an airtrain for LGA airport. Subway to LGA wouldn't be a bad idea at all but Airtrain, seriously? If this were the 20s, then yes. But this is 2013. and the state only have so much money and that should be invested in service for all people, not only for the ones who can afford Airtrain. IMHO. On the other hand, Port Authority is more than welcome to build an Airtrain (light rail or Bombardier ART, so long as it's not a goddamn monorail). After all, how else is Chris Christie going to convince New York that it's worth $1B for a train to his airport? Horse trading may be morally reprehensible, but it gets things done. An airtrain is elevated, and subway is a tunnel. I prefer an airtrain instead of a subway because you have to dig a tunnel, it cost more money then just building simple concrete elevated structure. Tunneling will cost a lot of money and will take a lone time to complete. The LGA airtrains could look like the JFK airport airtrain. The JFK airport airtrain is concrete structure just like our proposed LGA airtrain and the JFK airtrain has 2 subway connections one to the and the other to the . A light rail sounds like a good idea. It cost less.

Elevated structures approaching LaGuardia from the west are impossible, because as I've stated multiple times, a landing path for one of the runways flies very low over Astoria Blvd and the GCP - there are special shortened streetlights for the GCP directly beneath this area. AirTrain is just a name. An AirTrain can be whatever the hell you want it to be. Please don't suggest otherwise.

That Astoria Blvd line is elevated all its length, including around LGA. However, it may be pushed to at-grade to deal with flight paths, as necessary, but having it go over the Grand Central would be fine in that section. Vistausss Posted September 21, 2013 Share #31 Posted September 21, 2013 Since when is a subway supposed to be a tunnel? In that case they better de-classify almost all of the subway lines in NYC because there's only few that truly stay underground. And I'm not even talking about subways in other countries which also don't run 100% underground...
