NJ Transit F40PH-2CAT's 4115, 4116, 4123, 4125 sold to Metro-North

Hello,

 

I have heard rumors that NJ Transit F40PH-2CAT's #'s 4115, 4116, 4123, 4125 have been sold to Metro-North and now operate in the pool agreement with NJT and MNCR.

 

 

Is this true and if not why?

I guess the persons to askj about this would be NJ Transit and Metro-North personnel. How old are these locomotives and were they any rebuilds?

I spoke briefly with a NJT engineer on Sunday. If I would have remembered I would have asked.

All NJ Transit F40PH-2CAT's were orginally built as the EMD Catalogue F40PH-2 locomotives in 1983. In 1995 and 1996 Conrail rebuilt all NJ Transit F40PH-2 locomotives to F40PH-2CAT's. The car body was lengthed and Catepillar Head End Power Units (hence the CAT designation) were installed. All were rebuilt at Conrail's Jaunita PA. Shops.
