In fact, employees who go from hourly to supervision and those who retire are required to hand in their uniforms. They do not want the MTA patches be held by the (former) hourly employee. There's is or was a uniform store on Flatbush between Flatlands and Kings Highway that sells vests as I seen it in the window, but I'd imagine you'd need a co sign from your employer, you just can't just go up in there and buy one.
