MichalkaManiac Posted January 25, 2016 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2016 According to , LIRR service to Brooklyn will remain suspended for Monday's AM rush, and are saying that they will cross honor tickets for trains to Brooklyn. I've always figured, in the case of the suspensions, when they would occasionally cross-honor MetroCards for LIRR service to Penn (or vice versa). But since the and both stop at the express island platform (both Bronx-bound and Brooklyn-bound), how will officials know if customers are going towards Atlantic Avenue (or uptown to the Bronx) with an LIRR ticket? Will an LIRR conductor be on every car checking tickets? How does that work???
checkmatechamp13 Posted January 25, 2016 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2016 I highly doubt they'll care. What's to stop somebody from getting off at 14th Street? Technically, most of the people who bought the ticket to Atlantic Terminal are going to Lower Manhattan anyway, so either way, they would be paying a MetroCard fare, so they're actually getting off easy. Technically, they're screwing over some people (albeit a relatively small number) by not cross-honoring on the to Broadway Junction. When it comes to service disruptions, the MTA cares more about moving the large volume of people quickly, than collecting the proper fare from every single person (as they should).
