Javier Posted October 25, 2016 Share #26 Posted October 25, 2016 Isn't the crossover between the and only on the upper (north/eastbound) level? So without reversing, from Flushing you can't leave the 7 line. From 34th or Times Square, you can get to Astoria (or Flushing obviously) but that's it without reversing. What are you talking about there are two switches at Queensboro on both levels. The only reason why that switch exists (and why Queensboro Plaza is the only station to serve both the BMT and IRT on the same platform other then Court St) is because the is the only line that is built like a BMT line but was converted to a IRT line (hence why the platforms are so long and why the needs 11 cars.) Now I may be wrong on this, but Astoria also built to IRT specifications but then was converted to BMT specifications.
