Canarsie - Rockaway Parkway

From Canarsie–Rockaway Parkway, nearly all IND/BMT terminals can be reached. It’s easier to list the ones that can’t such as Ozone Park–Lefferts Boulevard or Far Rockaway–Mott Avenue.

Jamaica–179 Street is another interesting point to start from. You can reach any IND/BMT terminal—except 8 Avenue ((L))—without reversing!

The L can go there with out reversing.

go to broadway junction then switch to broadway then up christie st tube then via the M all the way to 179 at

You misread. From Jamaica–179 Street to 8 Avenue on the Canarsie Line is not possible without reversing.

What about from 179th St to 168 St?

168 Street ((A)(C)) isn’t really a terminal in my opinion since it is a through station, but that can be reached thusly:

  • Starting at Jamaica–179 Street, follow the southbound express track to 21 Street–Queensbridge.
  • Continue down 63 Street to 47–50 Streets–Rockefeller Center (switching to the express track for the most direct route to Coney Island since you will be taking the least amount of diverging switches this way).
  • Continue over the Manhattan Bridge, bypassing DeKalb Avenue.
  • Continue along the Sea Beach going southbound. (Either the express or local track is fine since there is no straight path no matter which track you choose.)
  • Go through the Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue station and continue along the Culver Line northbound.
  • Switch to the express track north of Avenue X and continue northbound to Broadway–Lafayette Street without taking any diverging switches.
  • South of West 4 Street–Washington Square, continue through the switches to the upper level of the station. (The switches here “naturally” favor this movement as the switches to the lower level force the train to curve right.)
  • Continue north along the same track all the way to 168 Street.

As you can see, most of the magic happens at Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue. The 6 Avenue Line is also very flexible as it connects to everything.

I don't think you can get there without reversing. All the trains there would have to go down via the (E) and then reverse back up to go via the (C) or (A).

Never mind. You can go all the way down to CI via the (F) and then the (D) and then the (N), and back up on the (F) thru CI

Mets Willits Point - Main st to Norwood 205 st

-7 to Queensboro

-Broadway/Brighton down to Coney Island

-West End/6 Av up to 205 St

Or

-7 to Queensboro

-Broadway/Sea Beach down to Coney Island

-Brighton/6 Av up to 205 St

Those are the easiest ways without changing ends.

...of course, you gotta have the right equipment for the switch from IRT to BMT, or you won't be going anywhere off of the Flushing line.

Main St to SBK 36th St railyard.

A majority of these routings will happen using Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue as a through station. Once your mind automatically considers that first, it’s pretty obvious how the routings will turn out, because from Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue, one can reach every terminal (without reversing the train) except:

  • 8 Avenue (Canarsie Line)

This pretty much means everything in between is also accessible. If Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue as a starting point can reach it, then any other starting point that can reach Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue can reach it as well.

I’ll give you a moment to figure out how this is possible.

Isn't the crossover between the (7) and (N) only on the upper (north/eastbound) level?

So without reversing, from Flushing you can't leave the 7 line. From 34th or Times Square, you can get to Astoria (or Flushing obviously) but that's it without reversing.
