R211 propulsion observation

Recommended Posts

So I was watching videos of various Indian metro systems when I came across this video of the Chennai Metro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRt08SBJgYo

The Alstom Optonix propulsion is exactly the same! And the kicker is these trains started construction in 2010 and entered service back in 2014.

For reference here is a video of the r211: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4y_sCEJ9IA

I cant be the only person that has noticed this?

Are you trying to imply the R211s propulsion is outdated?

No. I just thought it was cool that the same propulsion can be found on a totally different system.

U do realize there’s a “R211 discussion” thread for a reason brother man

I was not sure if it belonged there or in its own thread. Sorry, I am still new to the forum

In the Atlanta Subway, some of the cars have the same propulsion as the R142A/188 and R143s.

Too bad they wont be around for much longer, as MARTA is replace all their trains.

I have also noticed that the propulsion on the MTR "A" trains (Adtranz–CAF EMU) sounds like a low pitch version of the R142A/188 and R143 propulsion.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xr8WH38-N4 (Sorry I can't find a video with better audio.)
